Sherwin Nelson Clemons / GV Financial Advisors
Sherwin Nelson Clemons is known for her calming spirit in tense or emotional financial situations. She enjoys helping her clients discover the relevance of big, and often overwhelming, life events to achieve what is most important to them.
“I relish my role as financial advisor because I believe it gives me the opportunity to make a tremendous difference in my clients’ lives,” she explains with enthusiasm. “I love helping people filter their often-tough financial decisions through the prism of their personal core values and priorities, and working with them to help them make progress on their most cherished life goals.”
Before joining the firm as a financial advisor in 1998, Sherwin earned degrees in Finance and International Economics from the University of Alabama and a certification in French from The Sorbonne in Paris, France. After graduation, Sherwin worked in the banking industry prior to becoming a Certified Financial Planner®. Sherwin worked as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® and is co-founder of the firm’s Divorce Resource Group™.
GV relies on Sherwin to develop and lead the training program for GV’s Financial Advisors on successfully integrating Behavioral Wealth Management tools and conversations into a sophisticated financial planning practice. Recently, she launched a new GV workshop series called “Who Told You THAT?” to focus on the messages each person received about money as a child and how those messages affect their adult lives. Sherwin is a published writer, blogger, workshop facilitator and frequent public speaker on a variety of financial topics.
True to her own values, Sherwin stays actively involved in the Atlanta community. She served on the Community Board of Directors of The Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation and is a member of the 2014 Class of Leadership Sandy Springs. Sherwin formerly served as a Foster Parent & Child Advocate in DeKalb County, on the board of Peace on the Move, Inc., and Stewardship Chair at Peace Baptist Church.
Sherwin’s calm work style disappears when it comes to football. Alabama football. Whether cheering for the University of Alabama or Alabama State, Sherwin remains true to her southern roots. She enjoys football season and family life with her husband, two small daughters from her husband’s first marriage, and her adult foster daughter. Sherwin has come to love cycling as both a form of exercise and a sport; she recently completed her first triathlon and plans on training for longer events.
