Our Family

In 1998, my parents, Stylianos (Steve) and Alice Vatsolakis, moved myself and my two sisters, Chrissoula and Katerina, to Pensacola, from Crete, Greece, to purchase Shoreline Foods from Mike Gavallas. My father, Steve, is a FAA Authorized Inspector by trade and is now the Aircraft Maintenance Officer for the Civil Air Patrol while my mother, Alice, retired from the U.S. Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and, upon retirement, supported my father’s decision in purchasing Shoreline Foods by handling all the business’ finances and books. In 2000 they started importing our Shoreline EVOO and it quickly became a product you could find in most kitchens of Pensacola and the surrounding area. Since then, my father has introduced countless products from Europe and the Middle East.

In 2002, I joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, CA where I met the love of my life, Maia. In 2006 and 2008 she blessed me with our two gorgeous girls, Lucianna and Ellynne and after five years in the Corps and three tours to Iraq I ended my enlistment. We decided to stay in San Diego for another seven years, at which time we were presented with the opportunity to take over the amazing business Mr. Mike and my father created. In 2014, Maia and I moved our family to Pensacola and started the transition. It took almost 2 years for us to feel ready to take over and in July, 2016 we purchased the business from my father and made it official.

Since moving here, in 2014, my father and I have introduced many new items, including the Greek olive bar, our own brand of wines from Crete, Greece, a great selection of craft beers, and others. Now that my wife and I have taken ownership we plan on improving even more and are very excited about sharing our improvements with all of you.

My parents worked very hard to take care of each and every customer and his/her needs. We plan on working even harder to not only accomplish the same, but also to bring out all the potential this business has, so it can be even more enjoyable for everyone.

We appreciate all of your support and hope to continue being the local grocery/import store you’ve come to love.

Nancy Bullock-Prevot retired from the Navy after 21 years as a Chief Petty Officer, in Cryptologic Technician Collection (CTRC). Her last command was the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25), named after flight 93, which was the last of the 9/11 ships. As a plank owner and first Chief CTRC onboard the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25), she assisted in the building of the Operations Department and OT Division.  As the first Chief for the OT Division she served as principle advisor to USS SOMERSET’s Commanding Officer and the Operations Officer on their security programs and cryptologic matters.

As a retired United States Navy veteran with over 20 years of service Chief Prevot wanted to continue serving her country. As a woman veteran, she believes that women veterans are the ones who are often forgotten. “People forget that women served just like their male counterparts and fall on their luck in the same way”. Prevot wanted to do something to help women veterans that are struggling with varieties of obstacles that have led them to homelessness, knowing that could have easily been her.

In August of 2016, Prevot founded The H.E.R. (Honor, Empower, and Rebuild) Foundation, which she formed to help homeless female veterans who are single. HER is ready to help the homeless female veterans by providing affordable housing and other services that may lead them to establishing successful futures.

Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

–            Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.

–            Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We are in our third year of production of the magazine and our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication. For 2017, we will only produce one edition. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips.

–            Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2017, our conference will be held on Thursday, October 19th at Sanders Beach.

–            Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.

–            Women in Leadership radio podcast show – sponsored by Pensacola Business Radio X. We hold monthly shows featuring local community leaders and other men and women in business. We engage our guests in conversational style in-depth interviews. They share their advice on topics such as mentoring, keys to success, time management tools, personal mantras and favorite inspirations, and what men can do to help support women in business.

–            Membership in Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is also available.

Contact kolleen@powerfulwomengulfcoast.com for more information or visit our website at www.powerfulwomengulfcoast.com or Facebook at “Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast” for all of our meeting information.

StevenCarse

In true Founder fashion Steven Carse has never walked into King of Pops without a new idea and a pat on the back for the crew. His mind never stops moving, producing on average 100 ideas per week, and though most of them are beyond our possibilities, the 1% that make the cut are true gold. Steven loves his community, his KoP family, and he truly couldn’t envision a different life.

Steven Carse is one-of-a-kind; he has a really big heart and his employees are proud to have an owner who cares about their well-being as much as he does.

Diego Torres is simultaneously the most stylish and saucy employee at King of Pops, wearing exclusively black or rose gold. He is our resident Marketing Coordinator and is a man of many talents. He runs our social media accounts and wears the hat of in-house publicist. Even though he’s new to the Kingdom, he’s taken to it like a fish to water, diving right into the deep end of KoP shenanigans.

Diego is a founding member of the KoP Running Club, which is a great way to burn off all the Cookies n’ Cream pops he eats throughout the day. Diego wears the shirt and it reads, “Fearless.”

Andrei Caciula moved to the United States in 2003 and began his long-standing career with The Palm Restaurant Group in 2004 at the age of 21. Starting out as a server’s assistant and bar back in addition to numerous kitchen positions, Andrei quickly worked his way up to Manager of The Palm Atlanta.

After spending a few years in his managerial position, Andrei transferred to New York where he took on the role of Assistant General Manager at The Palm West Side. Today Andrei oversees all operations and staff at The Palm Atlanta where he says every day is his favorite day on the job.

Since Atlanta is constantly growing with an eclectic mix of locals, Andrei caters to professionals in industries such as music, television, sports, legal and real estate to name a few. He goes above and beyond to make every diner’s experience memorable and reminds his staff that every guest wants to be treated like a celebrity and every celebrity wants to be treated like a regular guest; a philosophy that has earned The Palm top ranking in Atlanta’s restaurant scene.

As the General Manager, he encourages all guests to stop by the bar and ask for a “Pinky;” an exclusive cocktail unique to The Palm Atlanta and a local favorite. Cheers!
