Freaky Eater Stories From JJ Virgin Plus Her Best Fitness Tips for Sexy Arms
Nutrition and Fitness coach to the stars, JJ Virgin came on to talk about Freaky Eater stories from her TV show on TLC. It’s hard to believe that their are two shows about weird eaters. JJ helps those people who eat things like tartar sauce or corn starch all day long – not sofas or coins?
She has discovered that people really have to want to change. She can’t want them to change more than they do – it just won’t work for long – the same is true with people trying to lose weight or get in shape.
Her startegy for helping these Freaky Eaters is to…
- Shock them with the extent of their habit
- Then show them what will happen to their health if they continue their unhealthy behavior
She is now on the look out for someone addicted to those low cal or 100 calorie snacks – she said that if you want to nominate someone for that for an upcoming show to email Dr Fitness and she will send the info on to JJ.
JJ also wrote the book Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy – she generously shared some her best fitness tips to get those ripped arms. She recommended doing 4-8 minutes of high intensity training several times a week along with strength training several times a week. She also said that you have to move through out the day and not be sedentary. Use a pedometer to get those 10,000 steps.
How To Teach Your Kid A New Sport
Teaching your kid a new sport can be tricky but it is usually worth it. Some parents can’t teach their kid anything so we thought we’d give you three tips to help you painlessly coach your child.
- Make it fun first – their is plenty of time to get into the skills but first you have to get your kid to like the sport so make things as fun as possible
- Don’t talk too much – play moving games that engage your kid in an activity kind of related to the sport
- Less is more – keep the time for instruction short and the time for playing long.

Another one of Roni Noone‘s delicious recipes. Here is her roasted balsamic cauliflower recipe from her GreenLiteBites book and blog. She says it is so good even her husband ate it. You need some balsamic vinegar and some cauliflower. Roast it all up in the oven at 450 for about 15-20 minutes.
Radio Show Recap: Father’s Day Review. MizFit Shares Her 100 Calorie Workout 6 Pack. JJ Virgin Fitness Tips Plus Freaky Eater Stories
Led off with a recap of our Father’s Day.The Fat Guy had an eatfest including his favorite tootsie roll midgies, breakfast and linner (lunch and dinner in the late afternoon) at his favorite Cuban restaurant. Dr Fitness had a more fitness oriented day that involved a run followed by another run. The Fat Guy went to see the Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds and guess who was at the movie theater filming a scene from his upcoming movie The Change -up? That’s right Ryan Reynolds – how weird is that? FYI Green Lantern gets a belly down and Super 8 gets a big belly up – if you’re scoring at home.
Then our good friend Miz Fit aka Carla Birnberg joined us with some workout tips from her new My Trainer Fitness 6 Packs featuring quick and easy 100 calorie workouts. We laughed a lot and she took us behind the scenes of her new Fila modelling session.
Then JJ Virgin came on to talk about Freaky Eater stories from her TV show on TLC. Who doesn’t love stories about people who have to eat tartar sauce or corn starch all day long? JJ also wrote the book Six Weeks to Sleeveless and Sexy – she generously shared some her best fitness tips to get those ripped arms.
Run on the Track To Mix Up Your Workout
Running on the track at your local middle school or high school is a great way to mix up your workout. Sure you have your favorite run course but to mix things up it’s fun to hit the track. You can run sprints or intervals. Dr Fitness had a great tip about using the lanes as a way to count how many laps you run. You can get inspired by the kids busting their butts as they train for track meets and cross country races. It will bring back memories of your youth and get you fired up. Or if you’re like the Fat Guy you’ll just get more depressed and go home and eat a box of donuts.
New Sunscreen Label Rules Coming
If you think the new cigarette labels that are coming out are little crazy wait until you hear about the new sunscreen labels. Next summer you won’t be greeted with sunscreen labels with gross pictures of skin cancer victims or disfiguring sunburns – but the labels on your favorite bottle of sunscreen will be changing. The confusing spf system will be going away and you won’t see anymore sunscreens labelled waterproof or sweatproof. Those claims have been too difficult to really stand by. It’s great fun to be outdoors and enjoy the warm weather but please protect yourself from too much exposure to the sun. Wear protective clothes and hats. And when you do use sunscreen use a lot and reapply throughout the time you’re outside.
Jeff Graves Talks Dirty About The Mudathlon
As fitness events get crazier and muddier than ever we had on our good friend Jeff Graves explains why the Mudathlon may be the dirtiest mud, obstacles and beer oriented fitness event ever. We love the idea of having fun while doing a physical activity – you’re exercising but you think you’re playing so you don’t mind doing it. Absolutely love that concept. If you have the same mindset you will love the whole Mudathlon series.
Jeff said that over the summer there will be a mudathlon in Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati and Cleveland – check the website for dates and exact locations. Every event and course is unique to terrain of that location. These events are crazy in that lets do that again way. He’s got massive monkey bars, cargo nets, watered down hills, lots of tunnels and tires to navigate through and around and of course lots of mud. You can do this event by yourself or even better put a team together and make it a company outing.
People really get into this event – Jeff says the race is PG-13 and the parking lot could get into the R area. You will get muddy and you will have a good time. Three tips for running a mud event like the Mudathlon from Jeff were…
- Duct tape your shoes on if you want the have them at the end of the race
- Wear old clothes that you don’t mind throwing away – bring a complete change of clothes in your car
- Weight lifting gloves (an old pair) are great to have on the course – especially on the slick climbing obstacles
