Vecus Miller & Theresa Hayes/Waffle House

Waffle House was founded in 1955 in Avondale Estates, GA. by neighbors Joe Rogers and Tom Forkner. They both passed away last year. While not being involved in the day-to-day operations, they both were still very present throughout their lives. Waffle House grew from that one restaurant to 1,900 in 25 states. Waffle House also has a very unique culture which they celebrate. From being open 24/7/365, to their unique “Call-in” system, to how they deliver a great experience, Waffle House feels their culture is what puts them above the competition.

Lowell Smoker/Dynamic Media Consultants

Dynamic Media Consultants is a group of marketing professionals with over 20 years of experience committed to helping local SMB’s understand how to navigate through and prosper in the ever-changing Internet marketing space. They combine analytics, expertise, and specialized knowledge to assist the business owner in analyzing their digital footprint, or what the search engines and others see. Using specialized tools, an assessment is given of what their competitive strengths and weaknesses are compared to others in their marketplace. Dynamic Media Consultants then help them put systems in place to either capitalize on their strengths or repair the weakness. Sometimes it is as simple as repairing their on-line reputation. DMC’s systems then monitor the various campaigns or actions. This allows them – along with the business owner – to measure the results and where to focus their efforts.

The end result? Their business will be found when others search for their service or product, their phones will ring regularly, and their business will grow again. If their offer or service is in demand, the growth can be explosive and quick.

Cristi Donahue/Oconee State Bank

In the early 1900s, there were banks in all the small towns of Oconee County… Bishop, Bogart, Eastville, Farmington and Watkinsville. When the Depression came along in 1929, all the banks went broke and Oconee County was without a bank for the next 30 years. Farmers and small merchants had to travel to Athens for their banking needs.

In 1958, a group of community leaders recognized the need for a bank in Oconee County and started a process of getting the necessary approval for a state chartered community bank. In 1959, the FDIC approved a community bank and Oconee State Bank opened its doors for business on February 1, 1960 with 3 employees and a small corner office on Main Street in downtown Watkinsville.

Today, Oconee State Bank has 3 full-service financial centers located in Oconee County, GA as well as a website which serves as an “Internet Branch.” The vision of the founders continues today. Oconee State Bank is proud to provide an unparalleled commitment to personalized service, value-added products, and a deep sense of responsibility to the communities they serve.
