Elease Dillard/The Student Navigator

Months before her high school graduation, Elease Dillard made the tough decision to deny the opportunity to pursue playing college basketball and solely pursue academics instead. Considering the last-minute decision to not play college basketball, plus having a younger sibling graduating high school in two years, Elease concluded that she would pay for college herself. However, there was one problem. She had no idea how or where to start!

With that goal in mind, Elease developed a plan of action and was able to graduate college debt-free. She graduated college Cum Laude from Georgia Gwinnett College and currently holds a B.S. in Cell Biology with a concentration in Biotechnology. As a freshman and sophomore in college, Elease interned with The Neuroscience Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her junior year, she interned on behalf of The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at The University of California San Francisco, where she conducted an independent study.

Experienced at winning scholarships and landing internships, Elease founded The Student Navigator because she wants to help ease the stress and frustration that is commonly associated with paying for a degree and pursuing a career. In addition, she encourages students to maximize their educational experience. Elease hopes her story will inspire others to take action towards living in freedom, passion, and purpose.

Elease is also the bestselling author of Funding College Debt-Free: your Interactive Guide Towards Living a Life of Freedom, Passion, and Purpose.

Cally D’Angelo/Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce

The Gwinnett Chamber is the forum for business, government, education, healthcare, arts/culture/entertainment, and philanthropic and public-service communities to come together to advance our region’s economy and enrich Gwinnett’s quality of life.

Rob Young & Steve Kendrick/Back to School Backpack Program

May is not usually the time of year you think about giving generously. But it is the perfect time to consider helping Subaru of Gwinnett and Infiniti of Gwinnett do just that. The Back to School Backpack Program is a non-profit charity that works to provide necessary school supplies and backpacks to children in Gwinnett County who are in need. This is a charity that is near and dear to our hearts.

When Steve K. Kendrick, Executive General Manager of Infiniti of Gwinnett and Subaru of Gwinnett, found out that Gwinnett County would have more than 5,000+ homeless children attending school, he asked his employees if they could all get behind the effort to help provide these children with something that would give them hope, trust and self-esteem for the future. From this, the Back to School Back Pack Program was launched in 2007. Each as the need has grown we have risen to meet the challenge. But we can’t do it alone!

That is where you come in. The 11th Annual Back to School Backpack Program Golf Classic will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Bears Best Golf Course in Suwanee.

Sarah Babrick/WES Leukemia Research Foundation

The WES Leukemia Research Foundation is a Gwinnett County birthed non-profit that is seeking the day “When Everyone Survives” by investing in new, innovative and potentially curative leukemia research. They work very hard to keep overhead extremely low so that all funds raised go directly to research. Each spring they have a Medical Advisory Board that reviews the grants submitted to WES from researchers all around the world and they determine the top grant recipients who will receive $50,000 towards their research on July 1st. Even though a cure has not been found yet, WES Leukemia Research Foundation funded research has been extremely successful in development and many new treatment options have been discovered that provide a better quality of life for those going through a battle with leukemia.
