Entreprenurial Route to CFO E3

Chad and Scott talk about Scott’s upbringing in a military family and his meteoric rise to the CFO of a publicly traded company. Scott grew up in upstate New York, received his Finance degree from Syracuse, and went to work as an investment banker. After a few years he knew he wanted more out of his career. He decided to move clear across the country to the West coast for B-school. This set off a series of career moves with smaller start-ups that quickly got him into the executive suite.

Scott goes into detail on unconventional moves he made that allowed him to quickly move into the executive suite and eventually hold the title of CFO for a publicly traded company. Anyone who has their eyes on the upper levels of financial management should tune in to hear this incredible journey.

For the next 25 years he helped lead public and private ecommerce, education, healthcare and transportation companies through aggressive growth cycles and capital raises in southern California, concluding that time as CFO of NASDAQ-traded HyreCar Inc. where he instilled the financial discipline required to raise $40M in capital and increase market capitalization 10x in less than 3 years.

Scott recently joined OpenTech Alliance in Phoenix as CFO where he is helping build value again by focusing on recurring revenue growth and profitability.

How to Level Up Your Digital Marketing Strategy E41

From SEO to paid media to website design, refining your company’s digital marketing strategy can be overwhelming. But if created intentionally, it can be a critical step towards meeting key business goals.

The August 2023 episode of the Arizona Technology Council’s AZTechCast podcast featured experts including Simon Golding, senior digital marketing consultant at Intero Digital; Rianna Lowrance, content marketing manager at Trimble SketchUp; and Andrew Smart, co-founder and commercial director at Slator. These leaders joined Bianca Buliga, director of marketing and communications at the Council, and Karen Nowicki, president and owner of Phoenix Business RadioX, in shedding light on the up-and-coming digital marketing solutions that can give your company a competitive advantage.

In this hour-long episode, the panel of three experts discussed the evolution of marketing from a traditional or physical format to a digital modality, the most in-demand digital marketing services in today’s world and the biggest challenges that they see companies needing support with that digital marketing agencies can help tackle.

Throughout the conversation, the speakers shared specific use cases of companies that turned to digital marketing agencies to help achieve business objectives, the solutions that were implemented and the results they have seen. Finally, they suggested useful metrics to track when introducing a new digital marketing platform, highlighted the role that technology plays in improving a company’s digital marketing strategy and provided myriad tips for how to select an effective agency and build a lasting relationship with them.

Kindra Maples  is spartan racer, past animal trainer, previous magician’s assistant, and has a weakness for Oreo cookie shakes. Her journey working with people actually started working with animals as a teenager (don’t worry we won’t go that far back for her bio).

She worked for over 15 years in the zoo industry working with animals and the public. Her passion of working with animals shifted into working with people in education, operations and leadership roles. From there her passion of leadership and helping people develop has continued to grow.

Then came the opportunity for leading  the Culture Crush Business Podcast and she jumped on it. Leadership, growth, and strong company cultures are all areas that Kindra is interested in diving into further.

Your Passion Is Not Just a Pastime E9

More Details, Please podcast hosts Emmanuel and Angela Williams welcome artist Laura Madden into the studio to talk about turning her passion into a profitable business.

Making beautiful pieces of art is no longer just a pastime for Laura Madden. When she decided to pursue her art professionally, Laura set up ReFashioned Art, a sustainable business specializing in abstract upcycled artwork using repurposed materials. Her purpose is to create more style with less waste. Laura chats to the Williams about unlocking confidence and courage when she decided to turn her love of creating beautiful things into a thriving business.

Laura-MaddenLaura Madden is an artist and sustainable fashion advocate. In 2019 she decided to pursue her art professionally and created ReFashioned Art.

Her work is modern, abstract art made using reclaimed materials to align with her mission of merging style + sustainability, and helping people live a stylish lifestyle while lowering their environmental impact. The ReFashioned Art mission statement is to Create More Style. Less Waste.

Madden prides herself on helping art collectors & designers pick the perfect piece to add a fashionable edge to their walls, which is why she started creating art in the 1st place- to feel like she was living in a luxury home of her own.

She collects unwanted art- salvaged canvases, antique and vintage frames, discarded building materials, paints- to create each one of a kind piece of ReFashioned Art. She has a large collection of available art, and is available for commissions.

ReFashioned Art has been featured in publications Modern Luxury Scottsdale, Iconic Life, So Scottsdale, Stroll Paradise Valley, Stroll Biltmore, The Redbook, Frontdoors, Fabulous AZ, Green Living, Arizona Foothills, Eluxe, and TV networks Fox 10 Phoenix, AZTV Channel 7, Arizona Midday Channel 12, Arizona’s Family Channel GMAZ 3, ABC 15 Arizona, and Jaime’s Local Love.
