Nancy Bullock-Prevot retired from the Navy after 21 years as a Chief Petty Officer, in Cryptologic Technician Collection (CTRC). Her last command was the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25), named after flight 93, which was the last of the 9/11 ships. As a plank owner and first Chief CTRC onboard the USS SOMERSET (LPD-25), she assisted in the building of the Operations Department and OT Division.  As the first Chief for the OT Division she served as principle advisor to USS SOMERSET’s Commanding Officer and the Operations Officer on their security programs and cryptologic matters.

As a retired United States Navy veteran with over 20 years of service Chief Prevot wanted to continue serving her country. Prevot wanted to do something to help women veterans that are struggling with varieties of obstacles that have led them to homelessness, knowing that could have easily been her.

In August of 2016, Prevot founded The H.E.R. (Honor, Empower, and Rebuild) Foundation, which she formed to help homeless female veterans who are single. HER is ready to help the homeless female veterans by providing affordable housing and other services that may lead them to establishing successful futures.

Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

–            Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.

–            Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We are in our third year of production of the magazine and our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication. For 2017, we will only produce one edition. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips.

–            Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2017, our conference will be held on Thursday, October 19th at Sanders Beach.

–            Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.

–            Women in Leadership radio podcast show – sponsored by Pensacola Business Radio X. We hold monthly shows featuring local community leaders and other men and women in business. We engage our guests in conversational style in-depth interviews. They share their advice on topics such as mentoring, keys to success, time management tools, personal mantras and favorite inspirations, and what men can do to help support women in business.

Born into an entrepreneurial family, Julie Gareleck was convinced that business was not her passion and that becoming a reporter was more intriguing. At the age of 21, Julie punched her international card, in Paris, working for Angela de Bona, the top PR Agent, representing the top fashion photographers in the world. A venture to Philadelphia after Paris directed Julie to work for a leading entrepreneurship institute.

In a few short years, she was recruited to join a venture capital organization, focused on early stage companies in Technology, Biotechology, among other industries, as its Executive Director. Julie earned her place in the Board Room at the age of 25.

A transition to Atlanta over 12 years ago enabled Julie to take her strategy experience and work as a senior strategist for interactive advertising agencies. It was here that Julie realized there was a gap between business-based strategy and what was defined as strategy at agencies. Junction Creative Solutions was born out of the need for strategies that intersect key business segments and the need for a firm that can manage the implementation. For over 8 years, Junction has worked with nearly 225 companies, helping do just that.

Julie has created an environment that empowers her team and her clients to be the very best they can be, and success follows naturally. She has earned the respect of her peers not just for her shining personality, but for her authenticity, integrity, and drive as a business leader. Her portfolio includes measurable integrated strategies for prominent brands across various industries, including Yahoo!, Mailboxes Etc., National City Corporation (PNC Bank), GE Energy, Mohawk Industries, Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. (SWM), and Alcatel-Lucent. Early stage companies in the portfolio include AcuteCare Telemedicine, 85 Broads, Intelaplay, Competitive Sports Analysis, XIOSS, Infinite Resource Solutions, Guardian Watch, Pro Diligence, Cost Management Group, the National Tennis Foundation, Saffire Vapor, among others.

Julie established the JXN Executive Roundtable in 2012 as a resource for entrepreneurs, senior executives, and marketing leaders to share industry experiences and insights. She remains actively involved in industry organizations often participating as an expert panelist or guest speaker.

It’s the worst nightmare for any parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, cousin, teacher, administrator, social worker, school official, and others. This episode of “The Dr. Dionne Show” features an in-depth discussion about the problem of domestic sex trafficking with three experts trying to protect the well-being of our children.

Bob Rodgers/Street Grace

Street Grace is an Atlanta-based faith-driven organization collaborating with faith, business, and community leaders providing a comprehensive path to end domestic minor sex trafficking in metro Atlanta and throughout the United States. Domestic minor sex trafficking is sexual activity in which there is a promise of the exchange of something of value to another person(s) for sex with that child.

Elizabeth Bigham/Georgia Bureau of Investigation

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is an independent statewide agency that provides assistance to the state’s criminal justice system in the areas of criminal investigations, forensic laboratory services and computerized criminal justice information. The GBI consists of three divisions: Investigative Division, Division of Forensic Sciences, and Georgia Crime Information Center.

Tracie Cason/Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office

The goals of the Gwinnett District Attorney’s Office include the efficient handling of all felony cases to ensure that swift, sure justice is handed out to those who present a threat to public safety; to be stewards of public funds by managing effectively and making the most use of public resources; and to anticipate and effectively deal with new threats to the safety and economic well-being.

The people of Gwinnett County have the right to honest, effective prosecution in all cases where there is sufficient evidence. To that end, the objectives of the DA Office is to conduct the prosecution of criminal matters in the Superior and Juvenile Courts of the County; investigate, prepare and present all felony cases referred to the Grand Jury and conduct special investigations initiated by the District Attorney’s Office; represent the people in all appeals, legal motions and special proceedings relating to the prosecution of defendants within the county; vigorously prosecute public servants and those within the criminal justice system who would abuse and violate their public trust and public integrity; and to bring to justice those who abuse the vulnerable such as women and children.

Join us for a fascinating conversation with The City of Maricopa Economic Development Team. Mayor Christian Price, Denyse Airheart and Mary Wolf-Francis share stories about the city’s rich history, current state of affairs, their unique community and exciting plans for the future.

Mayor Christian Price has been a resident of Maricopa since early 2005. After moving from Chandler with his wife, they purchased their first home and started a family. Mayor Price immediately got involved with his community by running for his HOA Board of Directors and was president for six years. He is very active in the community and volunteers his time whenever possible to non-profits, churches, the food bank and other service organizations. He was also selected for Maricopa’s first Board of Adjustments commission and served as the Vice Chair, before resigning to run for Mayor.

Mayor Price is an enormous advocate of networking – meeting new people and establishing relationships with citizens, stakeholders, regional partners, members of neighboring cities, and other government officials. He strongly believes that good working relationships with these groups and individuals will help Maricopa become a strong well-rounded regional player and directly influence the quality of life of the citizens through an enhanced economic development climate.

For more than 13 years, Mayor Price has been an entrepreneur and small business owner. He is the managing partner of Pantheon Investments, LLC/NPC, a financial advisory firm. A graduate of Northern Arizona University, he holds a Bachelor of the Arts degree in English literature.

Mayor Price has also had the privilege of working as a legislative analyst for the Arizona State House of Representatives and has first-hand knowledge of legislative processes and procedures. His family hails from northwest Tucson and he is an Eagle Scout who is fluent in Spanish. As a member of the Maricopa City Council, Mayor Price has a strong desire to work closely with fellow Council members and City staff to find the most economic and efficient solutions to help Maricopa grow and prosper.

Mayor Price also serves as:

  • Treasurer and Executive Committee Member, AZ League of Cities & Towns
  • Vice Chair, I11 Coalition
  • Board of Directors Member, GPEC (Greater Phoenix Economic Council)
  • Chairman, GPEC Ambassador Program
  • Chairman, Pinal County Government Alliance
  • Regional Council Member, MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments)

  • Board of Directors Member, M.E.D.A. (Maricopa Economic Development Association)
  • Fellow of the Flinn-Brown Civic Leadership Academy

Denyse Airheart joined the City of Maricopa in August 2013. Ms. Airheart received her bachelor’s degree from California State University Fullerton and holds a Master’s in Business Administration. Denyse has more than ten years of experience in business development talent acquisition. She joined the City of Maricopa in 2013 to move the community forward to achieve growth in retail, commercial and industrial base economies. Ms. Airheart manages a number of noteworthy tasks such as marketing the community to retailers and employers, the business retention and expansion program, shop local and the Maricopa Advocate Program. Denyse takes pride in serving as a liaison to the business community, citizen committees, non-profit organizations, special interest groups and neighborhoods by proactively providing information specific to the City’s economic development department. Ms. Airheart has also completed coursework for designation as a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council. She is a member of the International Economic Development Council, the Arizona Association of Economic Development, and the Urban Land Institute. She has served as an Ex-Officio Board Member of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce since 2015 and as the Greater Phoenix Economic Council’s Economic Development Directors Team since 2015.

Ms. Airheart is passionate about public service and is honored to serve Maricopa. She is married to her husband Steve and they have two children, Emery and Nolan.

Mary Wolf-Francis has 25 years professional experience building public private partnerships in the education, workforce and economic development arena at the local, state and national levels. With a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix she seamlessly leads private and public sector entities toward common goals such as the creation of a YOB (Your Own Business) Fair™ and the Arizona Energy Consortium. As a Business Liaison for the City of Phoenix she kept her finger on the pulse of emerging industries delivering industry intelligence to job seekers, tracking our local talent pool, identifying key training opportunities and working with hiring companies as our state emerged from the recession. In October of 2011 Mary transitioned to Community Liaison for DIRTT Environmental Solutions and was recently hired by the City of Maricopa as an economic development specialist. The Phoenix Business Journal named Ms. Wolf-Francis one of the top 25 women business leaders in January of 2012.

The City of Maricopa is a community with a  “Proud History and Prosperous Future.”  Strategically located between Phoenix and Tucson in the high growth Sun Corridor, Maricopa is poised for continued success.  Maricopa became Arizona’s 88th municipality when it incorporated in October of 2003.  Since that time, it has been Arizona’s fastest growing community, transforming almost overnight from a quiet town of under 5,000 residents to a bustling city of more than 50,000.  Historically an agricultural community, Maricopa is emerging as a regional hotbed for the agritech industry.  Maricopa is home to a thriving cluster of local agritech businesses and research facilities, including the USDA Arid-Land Agricultural Research Center and the University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center.  Researchers at these centers are working to develop new technologies and solutions to problems faced by crop consumers and producers.  Partnerships with the private sector have led to the commercialization of innovative agricultural products and have helped launch a number of agritech startups.  Leaders in the renewable energy arena have also been drawn to Maricopa.  Pinal Energy opened Arizona’s first ethanol plant in Maricopa.  In the automotive industry Maricopa is helping to pave the way in vehicle research and development.  Both Volkswagen and Nissan located their North American proving grounds in Maricopa, where they put vehicles to the test under extreme heat and sun conditions.  A number of exciting projects have recently been completed in Maricopa, including the opening of Central Arizona College’s Maricopa Campus, a new City Hall and Police Administration building, the 98-acre Copper Sky Multigenerational/Aquatics Center and Regional Park and the newest commercial development, Maricopa Station.  Maricopa is a growing community that offers residents and businesses the experience of a small-town, rural atmosphere, tremendous quality of life, proximity to Phoenix and Tucson, and convenient access to major markets throughout the Southwest.

Wendy Steele-

Wendy Steele as someone who is responsible for starting an epidemic – an epidemic that has positively impacted literally hundreds of thousands of people. Wendy is the founder of Generosity Matters and the “mother” of IMPACT 100. She understands the power of generosity and has been encouraging philanthropy for most of her adult life. She truly lives by the mantra: “When everybody gives, the world benefits.” She believes that there are two kinds of people in this world: those who see human need and realize they can be a part of a solution, and those who still need to be invited to the party.

In 2001, she put this philosophy into action when she shared an idea with a group of women in her then home of Cincinnati, Ohio that was designed to invite more people to the party. Her vision was to create a pass-through foundation that would provide transformational grants to non-profits to help them tackle a variety of community issues.

This was the seed that grew to be IMPACT 100.

In 2003, People magazine featured IMPACT 100 and Wendy—and so the epidemic began. The news spread and the IMPACT 100 model began to be replicated around the country. As they say, the rest is history.

By the end of 2015, IMPACT 100 organizations throughout the United States have given away more than $33 million to people in need. And it is still growing.

In this episode, Wendy shares her story, the unique philanthropy model she birthed and the deep impact she believes generosity has on individuals and organizations.

Wendy brings the ideal combination of corporate leadership (SVP/Regional Manager in the banking industry), entrepreneurship (Successfully launched and led both non-profit and for–profit enterprises) and civic engagement resulting in keen business acumen and thought leadership.

A passionate entrepreneur, innovator and philanthropist with global success in both for profit and nonprofit worlds and a demonstrated ability to execute concepts into successful reality.

With a deep commitment to helping others, Wendy mentors/advises a number of business professionals on an individual basis. Robert Port, Page Hall, Melissa Benton, Craig Frankel

Hosts Craig Frankel and Robert Port talk with Melissa Benton with Atlanta Senior Advocates and Page Hall with Everything But The House about “What to Do When it’s Time for Mom and Dad to Move out of the House.”

Melissa Benton/Atlanta Senior Advocates

Melissa’s personal experience in the senior living industry began in 2005. She was the only family member in town, so she began caring for her grandparents in Dunwoody. Senior living options in Atlanta at that time were very limited, especially for a couple who wanted to remain living together. Their needs varied greatly as one spouse was independent and the other was struggling with Alzheimer’s disease. Over the course of 6 years, Melissa experienced first-hand the nuances, both pit falls and successes, of in-home care, independent living, memory care, assisted living, skilled care and finally hospice.

Melissa started her career working in Georgia politics in various capacities as the Chief of Staff to the current Lieutenant Governor, a Lobbyist for the Boys and Girls Club of Georgia, and a Campaign Manager for state and local races. She later moved into the legal realm as the Director of Business Development for a subsidy of the corporate and commercial real estate practices at Greenberg Traurig.
In 2012, a conversation with a friend regarding their family’s struggle with their parents not being able to live at home any longer brought to her attention that many families could benefit from what she learned when going through the same process. While she was passionate about teaching students for five years in Washington, DC, it felt like her calling to help others in crises with aging parents and serving as a voice for the senior population. She returned to Atlanta to work as a Family Advocate and became Co-Founder and President of Atlanta Senior Advocates. She dedicates her work to grandparents, Winnie and Bud, because having the honor to care for them has allowed her to help so many others.

Melissa is an Atlanta native and attends Mt. Paran Church. You can find her seeking the sun in the spring and summer and rooting for her Georgia Bulldogs in the fall.

Page Hall/Everything But The House

Page Hall leads the Atlanta sales and business development team for Everything But The House, the premier national online estate sale auction marketplace specializing in personal property liquidation. Prior to launching Everything But The House’s Atlanta operation in March of 2015, she built a diverse background in sales, retail merchandising, and home decor product design and development. Most recently, Page was a Merchandise Buyer for Atlanta’s own Ballard Designs, for whom she traveled the world seeking design inspiration and working with manufacturers. Before joining Ballard, Page worked in advertising sales for Home & Garden Television and in PR and Marketing for BD Jeffries. These experiences honed her project management skills and gave her a highly trained eye for design. This led to her opening a home decor and lifestyle brick and mortar retail store, which she successfully operated for five years. Her multi-faceted range of experiences have two common threads: a drive for unparalleled customer service and a passion for discovering unique items that make a home special. These skills and experiences give Page a genuine desire to help clients navigate life’s transitions and personal property liquidation and to bring untold treasures to the marketplace where they can find new homes to be loved for years to come.

Eileen Shuman, Mona Shuman, Dionne Poulton, Jerri Hewett Miller

This episode of “The Dr. Dionne Show” features an informative and enlightening discussion about the financial steps and decisions women should make after losing a spouse, either through divorce or death. Three experts representing divorce law and financial planning share their personal and professional lessons. Their discussion includes themes such as the importance of increasing financial awareness, always knowing one’s household financial status, and lifting the burden of female socialization requiring women to always “put others first”.

Jerri Hewett Miller/Wealth Horizon

Wealth Horizon was founded in 1998 as a comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory firm that acts as a fiduciary for their clients. They are advocates for their clients’ financial future. Their tag line is “the confidence to move forward”. They specialize in helping people through life’s transitions. They believe that money is a tool that can exponentially expand their sense of well-being when it is being put to use in line with your personal values, leaving you time to focus on the relationships that are most important to you.

Eileen and Mona Shuman/Shuman & Shuman Family Law

With more than 40 years of combined experience, attorneys Mona S. Shuman and Eileen J. Shuman of Shuman & Shuman Family Law have the compassion, tenacity, and expertise required to successfully resolve family-related legal situations in Atlanta and the surrounding area. A mother-daughter attorney team, Mona and Eileen understand the intricate relationships among family members and work with unmatched passion to achieve their clients’ goals for mediation, negotiation, or in the courtroom. Together, they achieve success for their clients in matters including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, division of property, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, post-divorce modification, and several other family legal matters.
