ABOUT YOUR HOSTS

It’s Mike Jones‘ mission to see brands grow and succeed – to reach their full potential. He believes every brand, like every person, has DNA that’s remarkable, but not every brand knows how to act like it (and communicate it to the world). It’s not about what’s trendy, whatever consumers are demanding, or whatever will turn the fastest profit. It’s about the long game – building real relationships with your customers and your community.

Chris Stadler likes to see great plans executed. In a world looking for magic formulas, his stoic outlook tends to point people back to doing the basics really well. Accountability and measurement are his tools. In the past, Chris served as the staff copywriter for a large credit union, UX/human factors researcher at the University of Iowa and full-time teaching faculty, teaching design, copy and strategy at the University of Oregon.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

  • Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.
  • Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We have produced 4 editions of this print magazine. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips. Our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication, however the magazine is currently on hold as we explore graphic designers. Our latest edition can still be found on our website.
  • Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2018, our conference will be held on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Sanders Beach.
  • Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.

Meet Our Team
Greg Devlin, Co-Founder Worldwide Neon Tiki Tribe

“After surviving a massive missile explosion, I feel like I have been given a second chance in life and want to make a difference in the world by helping as many kids at an early age as possible. I feel that if we can make a positive impression on children between the 1st to 4th grade levels (before they hit the high peer pressure age groups of middle and high school), we can really make a difference as they grow older.”

Our Philosophy
Neon Tiki Tribe book series combines comic book super heroes with real life educational values.TIKI in Neon Tiki Tribe represents Thoughtful Intelligent Kind Individuals and the world sure needs more of these.

  • SUPER HEROES SHOULD DO MORE THAN JUST ENTERTAIN.
  • TO TEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN (AND YOUNGER) VALUABLE LIFE LESSONS BEFORE THEY REACH THE HIGH PEER PRESSURE AGE OF MIDDLE SCHOOL SO THAT THEY’LL BE ABLE TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS WITHOUT THE HELP OF THEIR PARENTS OR TEACHERS, WHEN FACED WITH CHALLENGING CHOICES.
  • IF YOU KEEP A CHILD’S ATTENTION LONGER, THE EDUCATIONAL MESSAGE WILL BE STRONGER.
  • READING IS THE BASIS OF LEARNING AND EVERY CHILD, IN EVERY COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY.

It goes without saying; that we never want to lose our children, ever. Empowering them when they’re young (1st to 5th Graders) with “real life” lessons will  position them to make the right decisions when we’re not around.

The topics in red ink above are serious, but by using fictional TIKI Super Heroes and funny cartoon like settings we’re able to keep the children engaged without the stories being overly scary.

WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Charlie-Hess-St-Clair-Technologies-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioX2Charlie Hess was born in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada, and enjoyed playing Canada’s 2 national sports: hockey and lacrosse, growing-up in the small town where St. Clair Technologies Inc. (SCT) originated. He graduated from The University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1994 with degrees in Business, and Environmental Science & Resource Management. He began his career in the family business after graduation, with plans to continue his education focusing on Environmental Law. Before he could return to a post-graduate program, SCT requested a volunteer to relocate to Mexico in order to greenfield the company’s first international division. Charlie answered this call, and while his ability to speak Spanish was non-existent, his background in manufacturing had been developed over several years of employment in numerous positions working for the company he now partly-owned.

In the summer of 1996, Charlie and a small crew from the Canadian Operation opened a plant in Empalme, Sonora, Mexico. Having only 4 direct employees in the beginning, the learning curveCharlie-Hess-St-Clair-Technologies-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioX was steep in this developing nation, but soon a profitable 2-shift operation was growing under his guidance. SCT needed second manufacturing location to manage growth, and after 4 years a facility in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, was constructed. Through a partnership with The Offshore Group (of Tucson, AZ, USA) SCT expanded into automotive and non-automotive electrical system manufacturing in Mexico. Several US Tier 1, and OEM customers were being supplied with electrical harness system utilizing a just-in-time, and in some cases a ship-to-vin sequence process. Under the mentorship of Dave Thomas, President of SCT, and former President of Stoneridge’s harness division: Alphabet (a major competitor to SCT), Charlie expanded his management of the company to include all manufacturing operations, which totaled 4 plants through most of the 1990’s. He was responsible for many facets of the business, and became a driving force behind
the Shareholders’ decision making.

Charlie-Hess-St-Clair-Technologies-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioX1In 2005, he became SCT’s President, and took on all facets of the company’s directions, including: operations, sales, marketing, P&L, asset management and strategic plan development. Since that time, the company’s overall revenue has increased by 225%, and profitability has been successfully maintained through the automotive crash in 2009/10, and into the past 7 years of stable economic growth in the US automotive marketplace. Charlie’s vision is to continue investing in technology and developing his management team to ensure that SCT has a bright future.

ABOUT 1 MILLION CUPS
Based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012—a free program designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs around the country. Through the power of volunteers, 1 Million Cups has grown to more than 180 communities.

As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups works with entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and resources to break down barriers that stand in the way of starting and growing their businesses. Mr. Kauffman believed it was a fundamental right for anyone who had a big idea to be able to bring it to life—and we’re here to fulfill that mission.

OUR CULTURE
Diversity, equity and inclusion are key to the success of our programs. Nationwide, 1 Million Cups communities aim to present an inclusive and supportive front door to their local entrepreneurial ecosystems. These qualities are essential for 1MC to fulfill its mission to educate, engage and connect entrepreneurs with their communities. And they are too essential to leave to chance as the number of 1MC communities continues to grow.

ABOUT THE KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION
Founded by Ewing Marion Kauffman, the Foundation is driven to provide uncommon ways to create opportunities and connect people to the tools they need to achieve success, change their futures and give back to their communities. We believe that if you have an idea, you have a fundamental right to start a business to make it a reality.

We also believe that opportunity lies in the fields of education and entrepreneurship. Our team is based in Kansas City and made up of connectors and doers who dream big, solve problems with the communities we serve and take calculated risks to drive results.

Tiffany and Steven are joined by Don Muntner and Noah McNeely of Product QuickStart to answer Frequently Asked Questions about launching a new product.

Don Muntner & Noah McNeely/Product QuickStart

Product QuickStart was created out of a passion to meet the product development, prototyping, and manufacturing needs of entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small companies. In their careers, they’ve met way too many inventors and would-be product entrepreneurs that have been taken advantage of in this industry, so they decided to do something about it. There is no shortage of engineers, marketing people, and “submission companies” that will gladly take your money and get you nowhere. That’s not Product QuickStart. Their goal is to be honest operators, and do everything they can to help clients understand what they are getting into and their odds of success.
