ABOUT 1 MILLION CUPS
Based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012—a free program designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs around the country. Through the power of volunteers, 1 Million Cups has grown to more than 180 communities.

As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups works with entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and resources to break down barriers that stand in the way of starting and growing their businesses. Mr. Kauffman believed it was a fundamental right for anyone who had a big idea to be able to bring it to life—and we’re here to fulfill that mission.

OUR CULTURE
Diversity, equity and inclusion are key to the success of our programs. Nationwide, 1 Million Cups communities aim to present an inclusive and supportive front door to their local entrepreneurial ecosystems. These qualities are essential for 1MC to fulfill its mission to educate, engage and connect entrepreneurs with their communities. And they are too essential to leave to chance as the number of 1MC communities continues to grow.

ABOUT THE KAUFFMAN FOUNDATION
Founded by Ewing Marion Kauffman, the Foundation is driven to provide uncommon ways to create opportunities and connect people to the tools they need to achieve success, change their futures and give back to their communities. We believe that if you have an idea, you have a fundamental right to start a business to make it a reality.

We also believe that opportunity lies in the fields of education and entrepreneurship. Our team is based in Kansas City and made up of connectors and doers who dream big, solve problems with the communities we serve and take calculated risks to drive results.

Kelly Reeser

Kelly Reeser serves as the Director of Entrepreneurial Development for FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance.    In this role, Kelly is tasked with supporting our region’s high-growth entrepreneurs with both startup and growth strategies.  She accomplishes this goal by managing the Gulf Coast Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship- an innovation and technology-based incubator, partnering with local entrepreneurs to host Startup Weekend Pensacola, ITEN Wired and by coordinating entrepreneurial efforts with community partners.

Kelly currently serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement and The Global Corner, and is a member of the International Business Innovation Association.  She was a member of the Leadership Pensacola Class of 2013 and also serves as a volunteer with middle school students at Olive Baptist Church.

Kelly holds a Master of Arts degree in Development Management & Public Policy from Georgetown University and bachelor degrees in Spanish & Latin American Studies from Southern Methodist University.  She is a native of Pensacola, an avid traveler and loves being a mom—she enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, daughter, Evangelina, and baby boy, Elliot.

Jim Rhodes

Jim has actively participated in the planning of the annual ITEN Wired Summit since 2012 and is in his 5th year serving as its director.

He is a native of Pensacola and a graduate of Tate High School and the University of West Florida, where he received his degree in finance. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 1997 with a goal of furthering his career in banking, but later developed a passion for information technology. Upon graduating ECPI College of Technology, he officially entered into the world of IT in 2001. After working several years as a network engineer, he and his family relocated back to Pensacola in 2007.

Jim has been employed by AppRiver since 2008 and currently manages the mobile solutions team which provides mobile device support for a global customer base of almost 300,000 users. He also serves as an advisor to the board of directors for IT Gulf Coast and as a board member for Innovation Coast.

He is married and has two sons. He enjoys golfing, kayaking, and fishing.

OUR MISSION

Guns To Hammers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides our wounded veterans with Americans With Disabilities (ADA)-compliant remodeling and renovation services, making their homes easily accessible, helping them live independent and manageable lives.

After founding H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc., a successful remodeling company in Houston, Texas, founder, JR Smith, decided to redirect his time, money and energy toward this mission. As a former U.S. Marine, coupled with some guilt that he was able to leave the USMC unhurt and able-bodied (unlike many), JR feels he has a huge sense of responsibility to his wounded brothers and sisters who are now living at home — many of them in need of various home improvements.

Your donation will help make this happen, sponsoring veterans across the United States, transforming homes — opening doors and possibilities — to our veterans who need it most. Many of our veterans made huge sacrifices to protect our freedoms — it’s our responsibility to ensure they are never left behind. Donate, today.

Culinary Fight Club brings the passion of a high-energy kitchen and the thrill of a timed competition for you to enjoy. No two events are the same, with new teams and themes every month, we promise you’ll come back for seconds.

cooking up some good

From there, contestants have 60 minutes to create the most gourmet dish that represents their take on our monthly theme. The audience and judges vote and decide on a winning dish.

Aside from being an incredibly fun event, Culinary Fight Club events exclusively give back to the           501(c) (3) non profit organization Fight2Feed, an organization that partners top restaurants with food trucks to provide service and support to hungry men, women and children in our communities.

WE CAN’T DO IT ALONE

Sherry Moore is the Market Manager for Manpower covering Pensacola, Mobile and Ft Walton Beach. She has been with Manpower for 34 years and started as a temp employee after being laid off from a previous employer. She fell in love with the company and pursued a full time position within the company. She hasn’t looked back since!

Bethany Lauren is a Pensacola native and is the Marketing Director for Digital Now printing company as well as the co-founder and Marketing Director for DeLuna Winery and Court of DeLuna event space. She is passionate about Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast because as a single mom, she believes in promoting and encouraging other hard working women who want to achieve success in their own companies.

Margie Kalaluhi has been into health since 1976, when she graduated from Pensacola Junior College with a degree in Dental Hygiene, joining the United States Army in that year and serving honorably for 4 years, after which she learned several different healing modalities, including Reconnective Healing with Eric Pearl, the LifeLine Technique with Dr Darren Weissman, and the Body Code with Dr Bradley Nelson.  She is also a PTSD intervention practitioner and uses one or a combination of these techniques to assist her clients in dealing with any problems they might have, whether in body, mind, or spirit.  She is an intuitive holistic practitioner who is passionate about life and loves to help those who come to her with an open mind and a sincere desire to help heal themselves.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

  • Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.
  • Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We have produced 4 editions of this print magazine. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips. Our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication, however the magazine is currently on hold as we explore graphic designers. Our latest edition can still be found on our website.
  • Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2018, our conference will be held on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Sanders Beach.
  • Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.
  • Women in Leadership radio podcast show – sponsored by Pensacola Business Radio X. We hold monthly shows featuring local community leaders and other men and women in business. We engage our guests in conversational style in-depth interviews. They share their advice on topics such as mentoring, keys to success, time management tools, personal mantras and favorite inspirations, and what men can do to help support women in business.
  • Membership in Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is also available.

Convenient

No long drives in traffic to start your adventure (unless you want to). Choose from a large selection of our favorite launch points all over the Emerald Coast, Choctawhatchee Bay, rivers, bayous, or dune lakes. If you’re staying Gulf-front, we’ll come to you!

Value-Packed

Your Green Fin guide will be photographing your entire excursion. After your tour, your photos are made available to you digitally at no additional cost. No watermarks, they’re YOURS!

A Home Run

When looking for fun things to do on vacation, families often struggle to find common ground. Our SUP tours have something for everybody, so the entire crew can come together and create memories that will last a lifetime.

About Our Tours

Green Fin Paddle Company’s tours are a unique experience (no matter your skill level) for everyone to enjoy. You’ll get to stand-up paddle board at any of our beautiful locations on the Emerald Coast. Whether you choose to adventure the bayous, Bay, or Gulf you’ll have an experience you’re entire group will remember forever.  We’ll even supply you with the photos taken by your guide of your one of a kind excursion.

Inexperienced? No problem! We’ll teach you what you need to know and as always, guide you along the way.

If you’re looking for something a bit different and exciting, or need to decompress while peacefully connecting with nature, a Green Fin paddle tour is just the adventure you need!

Start Time

This is the time we meet to begin our tour.  We recommend arriving a little early, in case there is confusion on where to park and where to go.  If our launch point has public restrooms (most do), this is last call to use it!  Your guide will be in touch with you well before the day of your excursion to go over where we will specifically gather at first, as it is unique to each location.  Do not bring valuables to the launch point.  There is usually not a secure place to leave them.  We advise that aside from your flip flops, you show up with only what you plan to take on the water.

We will issue boards, paddles, leashes, and PFDs to everybody, and will gather at the waters edge to go over safety procedures and current water/weather conditions, discuss the plan for our tour, and do a quick gear check.  We’ll address any questions you may have and give some pointers for rookie paddlers, then we’ll hit the water!

Launch Time

This is the time we hit the water.  For sunrise paddles it’s about 30 minutes before the sun appears, right at first light.  For sunset paddles its about an hour before the sun begins to set.

We’ll cruise around for a while exploring and learning about the area, and settle into a good spot to hang out for a while while the sun does its thing.  Then we’ll begin heading back, keeping an eye out for dolphins, turtles, fish, and any other cool things we can find!

Landing, and Post-Tour

Except for our multi-day tours, we’ll always land at the same place we launched from.  We’ll gather up the equipment, and double check that we have accurate contact info for the head of your group.  You see, we’ve been taking tons of pictures this whole time, and will be uploading them to Google Photos within the next 24 hours.  We’ll send you a link to access them, which you are free to disburse to anyone you wish.  The photos are yours, so you can download them, edit them, print them, and anything else you want to do with them.  The only editing we’ll do before posting them is to delete the ones that are obviously garbage, and occasionally straighten an image.  We take a TON of photos while we’re out there, so there are always plenty for the album.

At that point, your tour will be complete!  We may follow up with a request for a review, and will hope that you enjoyed yourselves enough to tell a friend!

HISTORY

Pensacola Little Theatre has been providing live theatrical events to Pensacola for nearly 80 years. Our organization was formed in 1926 by a group of individuals at the San Carlos Hotel. The organization performed dramatic theatre for three years before the Great Depression. In 1936, after a period of “dark years,” the organization was reestablished through the Works Progress Administration (WPA), which created theatre companies across the country as part of the federal government’s recovery program after the Great Depression. Called the Civic Drama Players in the beginning, the organization was incorporated one year later as Pensacola Little Theatre, Inc.

PLT’s early performances were held in the old Chamber of Commerce auditorium and later at Pensacola High School. By 1949, the Board of Directors developed a plan for a home that Pensacola Little Theatre could call its own. In January of 1952, the first show opened in the Quonset, and our all-volunteer productions continued there through the 1970s.

Manna can’t meet the needs of the hungry in our community without a new facility. The April 2014 flood destroyed our equipment and food. Our work cannot continue effectively in these conditions. We need your help to raise the $1 million needed to make our new facility the solution we know it can be. We can only move those in need from hunger to hope with your support.

How to help MANNATell me how I can help make it possible

Want to help fight hunger in our community?

Help us provide your neighbors healthy food options. Manna is the only pantry in the region packing grocery bags using USDA Standards for a Healthy Diet. Every month with your help we provide 26,414 meals for 938 families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Every day we see areas where we can have a greater impact. We have to reach the needs of more children, senior citizens and even military in our area.

Help restore hope to those overwhelmed by hunger.

Eighty-five cents of every dollar we raise goes directly to providing emergency food assistance, addressing the food-related needs of vulnerable populations, and engaging our community in the fight against hunger.

Tony’s Tejas Local Love

Although the world’s best salsa is sold in all Whole Foods Markets throughout their Southern Region, as well as online via Amazon, we like to shine the spotlight on local retailers that also feature Tony’s Tejas Salsa. Each is very unique and caters to the desires of their community. #buyfreshbuylocal #shopsmall

The Produce Place

Has been providing fresh regional produce and products to the Sylvan Park area of Nashville, TN since 1988. This little neighborhood store has a wide selection of items you can find in the biggest natural food stores and several items you can’t get anywhere else.  It’s Family owned and operated and has a welcoming feeling when you hit the door. They host events also, like their strawberry festival, where they have in season produce and local vendors. We are proud to have The World’s Best Salsa in the building and share our love with the community.

Thanks for visiting the home of the world’s best salsa!

Having relationship problems? Can’t relax, your mind always races, memories keep intruding and affect your work, family, or social life? Tried a variety of ways to fix it but nothing really worked? These are problems I can help you with.

I focus on what’s happened to you vs. what’s wrong with you in two primary areas – relationships and couples as well as trauma. In the process I also work with individuals and children. I’ve helped several thousand people regain their lives, just like this woman, and I can help you as well.

Couples I work with are often struggling with a lack of emotional and physical intimacy, they’ve lost respect and trust for each other, and have little companionship or communication. And they often have frequent arguments about finances, sex, children, social media, etc.

I help couples open up to each other, rebuild mutual respect, trust, and honesty, understand what’s not working in their relationship and why, help them come up with mutual solutions for their problems, and re-experience friendship and simple joy in just being with each other.

Past trauma, accompanied by grief,  is all too often an underlying and untreated cause of relationship, work, and health problems. Many have ongoing struggles with mental health and substance use. They feel guilty, ashamed, stressed out, damaged, alone, confused, emotionally numb, can’t sleep or concentrate, have racing thoughts, have mood swings and anger issues, worry constantly. Alcohol or other substances may have helped to a point, but also caused other difficulties. They ‘ve tried psych meds, therapy, substance rehab but nothing has really worked. They want their lives back but feel lost and out of control.

I provide outpatient therapy to help my clients identify and address those underlying causes, work with them on eight aspects of wellness, help them restore emotional and physical balance, and in the process help people regain their lives and experience a renewed sense of joy, inner peace, calmness, self-control, purpose, and meaning.

What do I do differently than others? First, I don’t focus on mental disorders. I focus on what’s happened to people, not what’s wrong with them. I also consider and help my clients explore other possible causes. I get feedback each session from my clients about how they’ve done over the past week, as well as how they think I’m helping them in each session and we track and work those results. The therapy I do is structured and we stay focused on clients’ initial problems. While we work together on new problems as they arise we also stay focused on those primary problem areas.

The majority of those I’ve worked with over the years have had significant improvement, many 30-points or more compared to their pre-therapy scores in as little as 10 sessions.

Thank you for all you are doing for me, on and off the table. It means a lot to me. Kelly S. [former client]

Thank you Ray for everything. You have helped me so much. Billie G. [former client]
