Gwinnett Ballet Theatre was founded in 1977 by Lynn Snipes, becoming the first performing non-profit organization in Gwinnett County. The original mission continues: to provide local students with the training and performing experience necessary for a professional dance career while serving the community with entertainment, outreach, and education.

Following Ms. Snipes, Lisa Sheppard Robson took over as Artistic Director and provided 15 years of nurturing leadership. Under Ms. Robson’s tenure, GBT produced many dancers who became notable professional dancers around the world, including Princess Grace Award winner, Alessandra James (Charlotte Ballet), Jessica Collado (Houston Ballet), Robert Dekkers (Post:Ballet in San Fransisco), among many others dancing across the country. In 2011, Wade Walthall joined GBT as Artistic Director, and continued the tradition of excellence. Mr. Walthall presented two regional premieres, Journey and Pictures, which GBT performed in 2014 & 2015.

In 1996, Aurora Theatre was established in a converted hardware store in the suburbs of Atlanta. The City of Lawrenceville, GA recognized the positive economic impact the arts have on its community and invited Aurora Theatre to serve as the cornerstone for their revitalization plans. In a unique partnership between city government, private development and a non-profit charity, the city purchased a 100-year-old church and together with Aurora Theatre transformed the space into a $7.5 million theatre complex, which opened in May of 2007. Now, Aurora Theatre houses 2 performance spaces, boasts 5,000 season ticket holders, produces over 850 events annually and entertains 80,000 visitors. Currently in our 23rd Season, Aurora Theatre has become the largest arts organization in Gwinnett County and the fastest growing professional theatre in the state of Georgia. The Peach State Federal Credit Union Mainstage Signature Series is comprised of the biggest Broadway plays and musicals. The GGC Harvel Lab Series produces exciting contemporary theatre. Additionally, Aurora produces concerts, stand-up comedy, children’s programs, Metro-Atlanta’s top haunted attraction Lawrenceville, GA Ghost Tours, as well as Atlanta’s only professional Spanish language theatre, Teatro Aurora. Rick Strawn serves as the President and CEO of Paradigm Security Services and Strawn Security Services. He retired from law enforcement in 1998 after 25 years of service with the Atlanta Police Department. During those years, Rick worked in many assignments ranging from patrol to Detective Sergeant and Day Commander over the White Collared Crimes Unit.

Rick started Strawn Security Services in 1988 to provide services of top quality off-duty law enforcement personnel to major construction firms throughout Atlanta. The company also provided traffic control and security for executives. He developed one of the largest resources of dedicated state, county and municipal law enforcement officers and deputies available in Georgia.

In 2006, after years of establishing their reputation as a provider of highly trained law enforcement personnel and at the repeated request of their clients, Rick and his wife Susan formed Paradigm Security Services to provide those clients with professional unarmed uniformed and plain-clothes safety and security personnel.

The CID is a special benefit district that works to increase property values, promote economic development and improve the overall quality of life in the southwest portion of Gwinnett County, including portions of Norcross and Peachtree Corners.

The Gateway85 Community Improvement District (CID) is the largest single CID in the state of Georgia. They are a public-private partnership funded by commercial property owners in the 14-square mile area spanning the I-85 corridor in southwest Gwinnett County. Formed in 2005, the formerly named Gwinnett Village CID represents more than 550 owners, accounting for more than $1 billion in commercial property value. Three thousand six hundred businesses employ almost 40,000 workers within the CID, making the district one of metro Atlanta’s most important employment centers.

Gateway85 is the threshold between the city of Atlanta and its largest suburban county, Gwinnett. They work to increase commercial property values in the district by promoting redevelopment and new business, investing in infrastructure improvements that enable safe travel by bike or on foot, enhancing public safety with sidewalks and crosswalks, and creating an attractive roadside landscape that makes traveling, living and working in our district a pleasure.
