With a background in film and a heart for helping people feel seen, Bryan explains how he’s worked with organizations like Chick-fil-A, Coca-Cola, and Mercedes-Benz to build trust, emotional intelligence, and collaboration through curated movie experiences. He also shares how this innovative method has transformed everything from corporate cultures to personal relationships.

John Ray is the host of North Fulton Business Radio. The show is produced by John Ray and North Fulton Business Radio, LLC, an affiliate of Business RadioX®, and is recorded inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Movies as Personal Fingerprints – Your favorite films reveal your unique “story thumbprint” and core desires. No two people have identical top 10 movie lists among 6,000+ participants.

Accelerated Team Formation – Traditional team-building can take 6 months; movie-based approach achieves results in one session. Teams develop trust, vulnerability, and collaboration faster through shared movie experiences.

The Science Behind Movie Connection – Movies trigger empathy and human emotions in ways that prepare us for an AI-dominated future. Neuroscience supports the connection between storytelling, personal revelation, and team bonding.

Corporate Applications – Successfully implemented at major companies: Chick-fil-A (150+ sessions), Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Mercedes-Benz. These applications have proven to be particularly effective during organizational change, new leadership transitions, and post-layoff recovery periods. Helps executive teams articulate company brand stories and cultural values

Beyond Entertainment Value – Combines fun with deep insight, avoiding the typical choice between engagement and learning. Addresses symptoms like low engagement, team disconnection, and difficulty with change management. Works for both movie enthusiasts and non-movie people through guided app-based selection process.

Building Purposeful Teams, with Teresa Caro, Co-Author of The Purpose Playbook (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 825)

In this episode of North Fulton Business Radio, host John Ray interviews Teresa Caro, the founder of Liminist and co-author of The Purpose Playbook: The Definitive Guide to Building Your Team’s Purpose, Vision, Tenants, and Values. Teresa discusses the significance of her new book in helping leaders develop their teams’ purpose, vision, tenants, and values. She shares insights on the inspiration behind the book, coauthored with Jeff Hilimire and Megan Barney, and the collaborative process involved. The conversation extends to the practical tools and methods of implementing the playbook within organizations, the importance of constructive conflict and accountability, and key success stories from Teresa’s experience. Teresa also emphasizes the detailed steps for ensuring a team is ready for the book’s methodologies and the benefits of maintaining a transformative mindset.

The Purpose Playbook: The Definitive Guide to Building Your Team’s Purpose, Vision, Tenants, and Values

Everyone knows that the “right kind” of team includes a clear purpose, clear vision, clear objectives, clear roles, and mutual trust. However, establishing this is easier said than done—especially in today’s ad hoc and asynchronous work culture. So where do leaders of teams or organizations who aim to drive high performance begin?

The Purpose Playbook, a companion guide to the Turnaround Leadership Series, is designed to help teams and businesses alike to develop purpose-driven leadership. The methodology and corresponding activities help teams uncover and craft their Purpose, Vision, Tenets, & Values (PVTV), leveraging Jeff Hilimire’s proprietary leadership concept.

This book was written by co-authors Jeff Hilimire, Teresa Caro, and Megan Barney and developed from their years of experience running this process with their own teams and countless consulting assignments working with partners going through their own journeys.

Whether you’re a seasoned leader or a facilitator, this playbook is designed to help you navigate the meaningful journey of shaping a culture that’s rooted in purpose and clear vision. Part narrative, part roadmap, part execution, The Purpose Playbook uniquely helps leaders and teams picture themselves going through this process, while including practical activities and instruction to help tactically guide them along the way.

This playbook includes the formula for creating a shared objective, instilling a sense of “why” within the team that deepens commitment and engagement, and ultimately embeds purpose at the heart of your operations.

Andrew Traub, Chef/Owner, A&S Culinary Concepts

When Andrew was 15, his mother requested he go out and find a job. So he went down the block to the local Italian steakhouse and asked if they needed help. Luckily they did, and he was hooked into the world of food and beverage. That experience cemented his desire to become a chef and led him to choose a culinary school in the Catskill Mountains of New York for his college education. Andrew gained invaluable experience working in the enormous kitchens in the Catskill resort hotels while earning his degree. Recruited right out of school by Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Andrew was asked to be a member of the opening management team of the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.  After moving his way up the culinary ladder and winning several culinary awards along the way, from culinary shows to corporate events, he left Marriott.

Andrew partnered with his college friend and opened Love at First Bite Catering in Manhattan. Clients included Radio City Music Hall, the Luxembourg Consulate, the Pace Collection and Fordham University. After selling Love at First Bite, Andrew and his wife, Sue, followed a dream and traveled around the United States for six months, sampling the cuisines of the various regions of our great country along the way.

Upon returning to New York after their travels, Andrew was offered a position as Executive Chef at a corporate catering company in Manhattan. Ten months later, Marriott came calling again and Andrew was offered a position as Executive Sous Chef at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Georgia. He accepted the position at the Marquis, which was the host hotel for the 1996 Olympic Headquarters.

After three years, Andrew was offered the opportunity to become Executive Chef of the Memphis Marriott Downtown Hotel and Convention Center. After a couple of years, Atlanta once again beckoned, and his next promotion was the position of Executive Chef of the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Andrew was at Evergreen for 14 years. During that period, he served on several Advisory Boards, notably Avendra (the purchasing company for Marriott, Hyatt and several other hotel companies); Lakeview High School in DeKalb County; and Grayson Technical Culinary Arts Program. The board position he is most honored to hold for thirteen years is on the Advisory Board of the Atlanta Community Food Bank and he is proud to continue to serve.

With his extensive professional contacts–many who have become friends–and his knowledge of the local culinary scene, he is ready to share his experience with you through his food studio, A&S Culinary Concepts.

Sean Glaze, Great Results Team Building and Author of Staying Coachable (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 412)

Being coachable is an essential ingredient for successfully navigating change. Knowing Your People as People and Building Diverse Teams
Knowing Your People as People and Building Diverse Teams E16

This was such a great show, with two wonderful guests, to round out the first year of the Culture Crush Business Podcast. This first year has been a blast and we have plans to grow even more this year.

It was so great to have Darren Thompson from DiverseCity and Brian Mohr with anthym on the show this month. We are thankful for their honesty and openness to discuss the real things that really grow company culture.

The show also reached some very honest and real discussions surrounding company culture when it comes to diversity and inclusion and supporting your people as real people with feelings. This show was also lighthearted and fun, with momma Maples (Kindra’s mom Connie) in the studio as well.

Company culture is deeper than just the values on the wall that people align with though. It is important to understand the others that you are working with as more than just what their job is. Who are they? We spend the majority of our days with the people that we work with, so why not understand them on a deeper level. It is also extremely important to understand the importance of diverse teams and making sure that everyone truly feels included and accepted.

Once your company has been able to include diverse teammates and see them as people with feelings, then they can grow the culture of the company even further.

There were so many great tidbits in this show, that people will definitely want to take a listen.

  • Leaders get the teams they deserve
  • Culture is the way and how things get done
  • People simply want to be
  • Once you have the taste of a company with a good culture you just can’t go back.

If you are a company that is trying to take your company culture to the next level, then you need to listen to the show. This podcast is for all leaders. Brian and Darren give examples, tips, and reasoning for the ways that they are helping to grow company culture. Both gentlemen are supporting companies in their journeys to grow company culture.

DiverseCity is a mobile technology designed to help engage and sustain DEI initiatives.

Today, Darren is devoted to building his own tech-based start up and currently resides in sunny Phoenix, Arizona near his identical twin brother. He is an avid traveler, musician, chess player and remains committed to working with young entrepreneurs to help them achieve their goals.

Thriving organizations recognize that their level of future success will be a direct result of a highly connected and engaged team working together to create value and impact for those they serve. Connection and engagement can’t be dictated or mandated, and it doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the result of a deliberate focus on fostering a deep sense of belonging, inclusion, and trust within the culture.

The anthym experience harnesses the power of personal storytelling to knock down artificial walls and shine a bright light on the depth and breadth of authentic human connection that exists within every team. By leveraging the universal accessibility and time machine-like power of music, anthym sparks a new level of curiosity and opens the door for a heightened level of conversation leading to unparalleled levels of connection and trust.

About Culture Crush

Culture Crush is officially relaunched! We are thankful to Debra Caron who launched and hosted the show originally. Culture Crush is back with a new host but the same focus- highlighting what makes a great company culture and how it affects the overall success of a company.CultaureCrushKindraBanner2

Culture is not just a tag word to be thrown around. It is not something you throw in job descriptions to draw people to applying for jobs within a company.

According to Marcus Buckingham and Ashely Goodall in their book Nine Lies About Work, “Culture is the tenants of how we behave. It’s like a family creed. This is how we operate and treat each other in the family.”

On this long form podcast we will highlight companies local to Arizona and beyond that are crushing it with great culture!

We will talk with company leaders to learn about real-life experiences, tips, and best practices for creating a healthy work environment where employees are finding joy and satisfaction in their work while also striving and growing within the company.

About the Host

ABHOUTHOSTHEADSHOTKindra Maples is your new host taking the lead on the relaunch of Culture Crush! She is spartan racer, past animal trainer, previous magician’s assistant, and has a weakness for Oreo cookie shakes. Her journey working with people actually started working with animals as a teenager (don’t worry we won’t go that far back for her bio).

She worked for over 15 years in the zoo industry working with animals and the public. Her passion of working with animals shifted into working with people in education, operations and leadership roles. From there her passion of leadership and helping people develop has continued to grow.

Then came the opportunity for relaunching the Culture Crush Podcast and she jumped on it. Leadership, growth, and strong company cultures are all areas that Kindra is interested in diving into further.

Shout Outs

We want to thank a few people for their behind the scenes effort in helping this relaunch to come to life. James Johnson with Tailored Penguin Media Company LLC.– It is a small, but powerful video production company with a goal to deliver the very best by articulating the vision of your brand in a visually creative way. Gordon Murray with Flash PhotoVideo, LLC. -Flash Gordon has been photographing since high school and evolving since then with new products that will equip, encourage, engage, and enable. Renee Blundon with Renee Blundon Design – She is not only one of the best free divers (that’s not how she helped with the podcast) but she is great with graphics design and taking the direction for the vision that you have while also adding creative ideas to bring to your vision to life.

These are just a few of the folks that supported the relaunch of the podcast. If you would like to be part of the Culture Crush team or would like to support underwriting the show- please reach out: culturecrushpodcast@gmail.com

Growing Culture Through Music – Brian Mohr E9

When it comes to finding the right guests to bring on to the People and Profit Podcast, our team always has our eyes open for great company leaders that align with Conscious Capitalism and the four tenants. This month we did not have to look very far to find a well-known leader in the Conscious Capitalism network here within the Arizona community as well as the Conscious Capitalism International Team.

Brian Mohr jumped on the Conscious Capitalism bandwagon back before 2015 when he found “his people.” As many others, Brian stumbled upon the Conscious Capitalism movement and knew he had to be part of the tribe. He has been on the board for Conscious Capitalism International and currently sits on the board locally for the Arizona Chapter as well. Not only has he been part of Conscious Capitalism in that facet but also in his past and present company leadership roles that he has held. From growing the very culture focused company Y-scouts, to his new and very culture focused company anthym.

anthym is an interactive, personal storytelling platform leveraging the power of music to catalog some of the most meaningful and pivotal moments and memories in our lives.

It’s becoming clear that the future of work will be embracing an increase in work-from-anywhere and remote work scenarios, which presents a whole new set of challenges for teams and companies. anthym is focusing on bringing the team members together and allowing them to connect on a deeper level. We know WHAT people do but this program allows the team members to truly learn about WHO the people are that they work with.

This podcast dives into the tenant of company culture, why it is important, the need to improve it, and how anthym can improve it. This is a great podcast to listen to if you have read about conscious capitalism and you think that these people align with you. Listen in to fund your tribe just like Brian did.

Building cohesive remote teams and culture is incredibly difficult – anthym is here to make it easier. At its core, anthym is a personal storytelling platform that helps you reflect on and catalog  some of your most meaningful and important life moments by leveraging the power of cultural touchstones like music, movies, books, and TV shows, which results in your personal anthym profile.

Together with your teammates, the anthym experience is brought to life by a facilitated virtual onboarding where you and your teammates share stories with one another and create powerful, authentic connections. After the onboarding experience, the anthym platform allows for continuous team connection and helps promote connection, inclusion, belonging and trust.
