On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy closed the show with Dr Lisa Thornton, spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Lisa has been working with kids for years and is the medical correspondent for Good Morning America. She has seen 300 pound 12 year olds and
140 pound 4 year olds. She says kids are getting diseases that were only found in middle aged and seniors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Lisa has just helped write the new book Eat! Move! Play! A Parent’s Guide to Raising Healthy Happy Kids featuring 75 recipes tested by moms and kids. The book explains how your personal relationship with food and exercise as a parent affects your child’s perception of what is a healthy lifestyle. By the end of reading the book you will have the skills and the tools to create and sustain a fit household. Lisa shared some great weight loss tips for keeping kids healthy and in shape like: the importance of giving kids a variety of foods to taste and try; teach your kid what a proper portion size really is; learn what it feels like to feel full and then stop eating; how to deal with picky eaters; how to eat together as a family; by limiting your child’s time in front of the TV, computer and other screens you will invariably increase their time moving and playing. To learn more about the book go to www.weightwatchers.com or order online at Amazon.com

When you get to the point where you can’t budge the weight with your greatest effort and perfect form then you have reached momentary muscle failure and you are ready to move on.
