Professional Affiliation
Affiliation with a professional association is a boost to your resume. Members tell us that they prefer to work with employers and clients who value their professionalism – they get the chance to do a better job, often at better rates. That rate increase alone more than pays the membership fee.

For over a decade ITGC has built a reputation for promoting professionalism in the IT industry. It is expected that, as a member, you will make efforts to enhance that reputation further, so that your Association is seen over time to contain the best people there are in IT.

ITGC hosts a monthly “Networking Social Hour” where members and businesses can meet. Please see our events page for the upcoming events.

Chapters: Ultimate Peer-to-Peer Networking
As an ITGC member, you have tremendous opportunities to interact with other network professionals through local chapter meetings, social events,  workshops, and newsletters. These opportunities allow you to share and receive information, knowledge, skills, and opportunities with your peers. The ITGC does not have Chapters in every area of the Gulf Coast, but offers help and support to even brand new members to start them up. Peer-to-peer networking (also known as “fellowshipping”) continues to be the highest-rated benefit in member surveys.

Leadership Opportunities
The ITGC encourages members to get involved and thus enhance these important leadership and professional skills. Members have opportunities to develop leadership, communication, management, marketing, public relations, and organizational skills by serving on ITGC board, committees and in community event leadership positions. The experience of starting a Chapter is known to benefit those who do it.

Opportunities for Industry Related Conferences and Community Events
Through our joint effort as volunteers, ITGC members share opportunities for industry-related conference packages and discounts, including ITEN Wired; the Gulf Coast’s premier conference for executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, and educators working in technology. Madrina, Kolleen, Julie

Madrina Dawn Ciano-Community Volunteer

Julie Still-Rolin has been conducting professional development training since 2012. In September 2017, she published her first book, The End Game: A Training Guide for Sexual Harassment, and since then, she has seen the need for enhanced sexual harassment training increasing and made it her focus. Her book is on Amazon, and more information can be found on her website: www.sexualharassmentguru.com.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

  • Monthly networking meetings in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. These are open to all women and are free to attend. We run a structured meeting with open networking, an educational segment, a sponsor presentation, an opportunity to hear about the businesses of all attendees, and a whole lot of fun. We frequently hear from attendees that these meeting are chock full of value and a great way to build new relationships to help support their businesses. The Pensacola meetings include lunch paid for by our sponsors.
  • Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast Magazine. We have produced 4 editions of this print magazine. Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips. Our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication, however the magazine is currently on hold as we explore graphic designers. Our latest edition can still be found on our website.
  • Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2018, our conference will be held on Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Sanders Beach.
  • Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.

Women in Leadership radio podcast show – sponsored by Pensacola Business Radio X. We hold monthly shows featuring local community leaders and other men and women in business. We engage our guests in conversational style in-depth interviews. They share their advice on topics such as mentoring, keys to

DR. SARAH LEATHERMAN

CHIROPRACTOR & Owner at Integrity Weight Loss Center

Here’s something you may not know about me and why I’m so committed to giving back.

Let me provide some back story. I grew up in a rural Oregon town, a mere speck on the map and no stop lights. Well versed in my ABC’s, I skipped kindergarten and began 1st grade at age 5. While I excelled academically, I was physically awkward through my teen years. My graduating class was less than 35 students, so any school activity or sport basically required everyone’s participation to stay viable. So I played volleyball, basketball and ran track. But my favorite sport was joining the cheerleading squad my Junior year. I loved cheering on other people.

Despite being involved in sports throughout the school year, looking back, I was “the sick kid”. You know, the one that got knocked down by a cold or strep throat several times per year and I suffered with acne. I took dozens of rounds of antibiotics all while trying to keep up with the demands from academics, sports and other school programs. All of these activities kept me busy and I was used to pushing through the stress and illnesses.

College was an exciting change! So many new people and experiences at the University of Oregon. I continued to push myself academically with many hours of late night studying and take-out pizza. By the time I was ready to graduate, I had packed on the “Freshman Fifteen” and then some. I also continued to get sick and suffered from seasonal allergies and daily migraines.

I had TWO things that happened my Senior year that proved to be significant life events. First, a friend introduced me to her Chiropractor. With my first adjustment, my health began to change. My constant headaches were gone and my allergies improved. Second, I changed my major to Psychology & Women’s Studies. Again, I love communicating with people and have a passion for inspiring and empowering women. To graduate on time, I had to take 18-20 credits per quarter. To round out my graduation requirements, I took a weekend seminar on nutrition. I was fascinated to learn how to feed my body for healing and the importance of protein. I had stopped eating animal protein for several years and didn’t know anything about vegetarian sources of protein. No wonder my immune system was shot! This was my launching point for the beginning of my career.

From there, I moved to Kansas City to attend Cleveland Chiropractic College. There I met my future husband and we completed our doctorate program in 2003. I was awarded a Clinical Excellence Award and further developed my passion for women’s health, with a clinical focus on pregnant women and babies.

In 2005, we were thrilled to discover I was pregnant with our oldest son. My nutrition was on point and I exercised regularly throughout my pregnancy. Then, I had a baby. And as many new mothers can attest, my needs took a back burner and I wasn’t exercising or eating as well as I should. Then, I had another baby. And the lactation diet didn’t work as well this time. I was overweight, exhausted and subsisting on coffee and carbs.

Then I attended a weekend workshop and heard this, “you can’t be an authentic physician, advising patients to eat right and exercise if you’re not doing it yourself.” Ouch. Right through the heart. That Monday, I made the decision to invest in my health and called and made an appointment with a personal trainer. I had never done consistent weight training and was intimidated to use that section of the gym. During that first assessment, I couldn’t do a sit up or push up and my sweat smelled like greasy French fries. I was in really poor shape. But I committed to training 3x/week and my trainer was a wonderful accountability partner. As I gained strength I also gained confidence. I was no longer that awkward teenager and in fact was even able to do handstand pushups!

At age 38, I was feeling healthier and stronger then I had in my whole life. My trainer encouraged me to compete in a fitness competition. I thought, “No way!!!” But it’s funny how an idea will take root and I committed to 12 weeks of training for a competition. I hired a competition coach that aligned with my values: No crazy diets. No artificial sweeteners. No appetite suppressants. No metabolic stimulants. No hours and hours of boring cardio. Only real food and quality workouts.

At age 38, with a body that birthed two children, I won 2nd place amongst women half my age!

While my stage photos looked awesome, what I’m most proud of is the 12 week journey leading up to the 30 seconds on stage. That’s where the interesting part of the story is. Do you know my secret? Consistency. As my coach would always say, “Just follow the plan.” I meal prepped on Sundays. I would create workout “challenges” with my kids outside. I included my family on my journey. They didn’t see Mom “on a diet”…they saw Mom nourishing her body and modeling healthy food choices while pursuing her fitness goals.

In the end, this was a GREAT experience for me because it demonstrated just how powerful food alone can be and what you can do when you put your mind to it. I made simple, practical and consistent changes and I didn’t starve myself.

Whatever health challenge you may be facing and however dire your needs are for improved weight and improved health, there is an answer out there. My mission is to help people achieve their health goals as quickly as possible in a safe and supportive environment and enjoy lifetime results, thereby improving the overall health of our community and building a culture of wellness and vitality through optimal nutrition. With regular success visits, follow up body composition analysis, daily texting support, whole foods recipes and DNA testing, we are geared to help you celebrate success!

Yours In Health,

Dr. Sarah Leatherman

THE REASON FOR OUR SUCCESS

The reason we have so much success with weight loss at Integrity Weight Loss Center is because we know that everyone’s reason for weight gain can be completely different. Weight gain for some patients results from stress or poor lifestyle choices, and for others it can be more complicated. It’s not uncommon for us to find that some people are pre-diabetic and need assistance with handling blood sugars. Others may struggle with weight loss because of infections or conditions like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

At Integrity Weight Loss Center, we follow the Lifetime Metabolic Program for fat loss. Additionally, as part of this program we utilize Genetic Testing to determine the right plan for you. A well-known clinical study was performed by one of America’s top universities, Stanford University, to determine if DNA testing was effective to assist in helping people to lose weight. When compared to other well-established and effective weight loss programs, those people that were on a meal plan that was specific to their genetic profile lost 2.5 times more weight than those that were not on an individualized plan. The science clearly speaks for itself. This is the reason why we utilize genetic testing to identify the best plan for you. This allows us to put the control back in your hands! For the rest of your life, you will know how to eat and to be as healthy as possible. The test is completely painless, non-invasive, and an imperative part of your focused lifestyle change.

– Next Exit History is a product of Three21 Innovations that started at the University of West Florida and has since become a privately held company. We still have a relationship with UWF through special projects and the Innovation Institute.

– The App content covers the US and some sites in other countries. Content has been created by UWF affiliates through projects and our Partners, such at the Historic Pensacola Village, the Swan Valley Historical Society and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.

– We see Next Exit History as a bridge for demographics as well as a way to provide for accessibility.

– Mistory is about true crimes (mainly unsolved historical murder mysteries) that occurred in our region. The first whole season is about crimes in Pensacola. Mistory is a collaborative effort involving faculty and students across multiple disciplines for every stage of the research and production process.

– The purpose of Mistory is not only to provide engaging listening entertainment for our audience but also to make public history come alive by rooting it in a site-specific familiar context.

– The first season covers Hank Killam who was implicated in the Kennedy assassination by conspiracy theorists, couples murdered in the 1920s and 1930s while “parking” in remote Pensacola spots, and the legendary Whitmire Ghoul.

– Mistory podcast is committed to pushing the boundaries of storytelling and technology. We experiment with different storytelling approaches on the show, with strategic circulation of archival documents on social media, and with beacon technology in the field to geolocate sites of interest. Each story is different, and we aim to make each one the best it can possibly be.

– Mistory is truly the result of a collaborative effort across wings of the UWF institutional family. It is supported through the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, the Innovation Institute, the Historic Trust, and Next Exit History. We appreciate the support of these partners and the enthusiastic support of our listeners.

The word South is not a bad word. I was raised here my entire life, starting in Tallahassee and now residing in Panama City. The word South is a culture, not one of a negative nature but one of the exact opposite. I was taught respect, to say yes sir and no mam. To help an elderly person take their groceries to their car. To hold open that door, to always have ladies go first. To show a woman respect. I was taught to turn the other cheek. To have family dinners every night and talk about our day. To support one another and one’s community. To be a better man. This mentality is not just in the South. It is a mentality that is world wide, but I learned it here in the South. The man above in the picture is a close family friend. A man we call uncle in my family. He is a retired fire captain from Detroit. There is rarely a man as good as him. Here is a man who served his community for many years, never asked for anything, and only looked for a way to make it better one day at a time. His wife was telling me a story one day, a story that truly speaks to the Southern way of life. She couldn’t find him one day, had been calling him and wondering where he was. He was bagging groceries and helping the elderly take them to their car. He didn’t work at the grocery store, he didn’t do it for money. He did it because it was the act of a good man. Because he is a good man. Something you don’t see anymore. Something that we have long forgotten. Something that we need to bring back. The word South is not a negative word. We just have to show the world what it really means. Fishing has brought me back to that mentality. To the right mentality. Help someone, do something right, do something to make someone understand that good people do exist. When you buy a shirt, or a hat, or anything else, wear it with pride. Wear it with respect and be that better person. Show the world that the word South, is something to be proud of. Something everyone should have a little bit of in them.

Our Mission

We help local business leaders get the word out about the important work they’re doing to serve their market, their community, and their profession.

We support and celebrate business by sharing positive business stories that traditional media ignores. Some media leans left. Some media leans right. We lean business.
