Briana Carson/Crave Pie Studio

In 2010, after being laid off from a corporate job of 20 years, Briana decided to go to culinary school. She entered school with a passion for savory cooking and a complete disdain for baking. Briana dreaded taking Baking 101.  She forged ahead though, and for the practical final exam she had to bake an apple pie from scratch.  As fate would have it, that was a pivotal experience.  Briana became entirely enchanted with all things pie!

Crave Pie Studio is an artisan pie bakery specializing in individual sized pies that are baked daily with creatively combined seasonal ingredients.

Carl Schuessler/Mitigate Partners

Mitigate Partners is an intentionally small “concierge” consulting firm offering a unique approach to benefits management to a select group of clients. Mitigate Partners provide insurance, risk management, cost containment, and employee benefits consulting services. They have chosen collaboration over competition and maintain healthy relationships with a cadre’ of like-minded consultants and resources throughout the region. Being open to and encouraging the ideas of others allows them to remain on the cutting edge of thinking in their area of expertise, rather than developing the myopic view of the world that so often occurs in single source benefit brokerage shops.

By serving as a fiduciary and steward of their client’s health plan dollars, and focusing on how to reduce the cost of healthcare (rather than the cost of insurance), they operate more as Population Health Managers rather than as “Brokers”, allowing their team to specialize in cost containment and risk mitigation strategies that result in dramatic reductions in the overall health plan spending of their clients. More than 100 years of combined experience in benefit planning, allows Mitigate Partners to offer clients improved cash flow, “employer friendly health plans”, and lower cost trends over time.

Having spent the past six years deeply engaged in research also makes Mitigate Partners sought-after speakers and authors as well. Their recent speaking engagements have led them to the National Community Pharmacy Association as well as to the Substance Use and the Workplace Community Forum (Opioid Abuse) in Morganton, NC which included North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein in the speaking lineup. Click here to see their interview at the 14th Annual World Healthcare Congress.

Susan Boland Butts & Keith Fenton/Hi-Hope Service Center

Hi-Hope Service Center provides weekday, residential, and employment services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They operate a weekday program intended to help individuals to be active participants in the life of their community, including many opportunities for them to make a contribution through volunteering. Hi-Hope Service Center supports individuals seeking competitive employment by helping to reduce the barriers that often times keep them from successfully obtaining and maintaining a job. They operate five group homes nestled in neighborhoods throughout Gwinnett County. Providing round the clock staff ensures that individuals can live in their home over the long term, including aging in place. Hi-Hope believes that their work ensures that adults with developmental disabilities have every opportunity to show themselves as vital contributors to our diverse community.

“THE TOUGHEST SPORT ON DIRT”

The rules are simple. Place a wiry 150-pound cowboy on the back of a hulking, snorting temperamental 2,000 pound bull and see if he can ride the beast for an eternal eight seconds…with one hand strapped to the bull’s massive backside.

In 1992, when 20 bull riders from the rodeo circuit came together to give life to a dream they all shared, they never imagined it would so quickly develop into what has officially been declared the fastest growing sport in America – the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). The riders pooled their resources – $1,000 each – and broke away from the confines of the rodeo format to make bull riding, the most popular of the seven events in traditional rodeo, a standalone sport and take it to major markets across the United States. Today the visionary founders are riding a wave of popularity as the PBR continues its charge as one of the fastest-growing properties in the history of sports.

The PBR has rapidly transformed one of the fastest-growing sports in America into a worldwide phenomenon. In just two decades, the dream of 20 bull riders has grown into a global sports sensation that has awarded more than $140 million in prize money.

Professional bull riding is a fierce, rough, and grueling sport with roots deeply imbedded in American culture. It’s America’s original extreme sport.

Atlanta United

Atlanta United played its inaugural season in 2017 with record breaking attendance numbers and became the first expansion team to qualify for MLS Cup Playoffs since 2009. The club’s average attendance was higher than every MLS, NBA, NHL and MLB team in 2017. On March 11, 2018 Atlanta United broke the MLS single-game attendance record for the third time, welcoming 72,035 fans to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was the fourth-largest soccer crowd in the world that weekend. Atlanta United and Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host the 2018 MLS All-Star Game on Aug. 1.

Atlanta United 2

In January, 2018 Atlanta United launched its United Soccer League (USL) team ATL UTD 2. The team will play its home matches at Gwinnett County’s Coolray Field. ATL UTD 2 will help bridge the pathway from Academy to First Team, allowing the club to develop younger players in its system. ATL UTD 2 will allow academy players experience at the professional level while also giving First Team players an opportunity to stay match fit and when returning from injury. The ATL UTD 2 roster is a blend of local talent and seasoned pros coached by Scott Donnelly, former assistant coach of the U-18 Men’s National Team.

Marsha Anderson Bomar/Four Forks and Madcaps

Four Forks and Madcaps specialize in offering unique cuisine from four regions in the United States, which is why their name is Four Forks!
