Building Stronger Communities with Arizona Credit Unions

In this episode of Phoenix Business RadioX, host Karen Nowicki welcomes back leaders from several Arizona credit unions to discuss the growth of Arizona Credit Union Week. The representatives Monica Meyerand of OneAZ Credit Union; Brian Lee of Landings Credit Union; David Krexel of Arizona Financial Credit Union and Mike Waldron of TruWest Credit Union explain how their collaborative effort, called “co-opetition,” promotes keeping financial resources local and reinvesting in their communities. They highlight the success of the initiative, which aligns with International Credit Union Day, and its expansion to include 11 credit unions.

The conversation shifts to financial literacy and education, with credit unions offering programs like Bonsai and My First Nest Egg to teach youth about money management. The guests share personal stories about their careers, emphasizing the community-centered values of credit unions and inviting local businesses to join their initiative. They express excitement about the future of Arizona Credit Union Week and its potential to grow even more next year. 24-AZCU-Week-Color-Logo

On this episode of “On the Money“, host Joe Moss discusses residential mortgages with Tom Hogan, Senior Vice President of Residential Mortgage Banking at Embassy National Bank.

Tom Hogan/Embassy National Bank

A new building with an old soul, Embassy National Bank was founded in 2007 to meet a need of its community: a truly business-friendly local partner who could make lending and banking accessible, straightforward and grounded. A local group of businessmen with backgrounds in finance, banking and hospitality created that partner for the greater Atlanta area, especially the communities of Lawrenceville, Duluth, Suwanee and Norcross. To support that vision, Embassy National Bank has assembled a team of managers and bankers with both local and nationwide experience to support the bank’s mission: to be the community partner small businesses want, and one their neighbors need.

Today we opened the show with a couple of  Atlanta’s top Certified Public Accountants Bruce Paulk and Gary Clayton with Clayton Paulk and Associates CPA firm.  They shared a ton of business planning tips that they use to help their clients prepare for life’s uncertainties. They talked about how they work with their business owner clients to create a checklist that helps them with their succession planning, risk mitigation, disaster planning and other important stuff that most business owners don’t spend enough time thinking about. If you are looking for a business CPA firm that does more than your taxes you should really check these guys out.

Next up we had an in depth conversation about short sales and the foreclosure process with Closing Attorney Matt Dickason with Dickason Law Group and Renovation Loan Specialist Brian Stephens with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Many Atlanta short sale sellers have homes that have not been maintained and they do not have the funding necessary to bring the homes up to good condition. Renovation loans allow the buyer to buy a short sale “as is” and then have funds added to their purchase mortgage to have the home renovated after closing

A special shout out to our sponsor – the Business Marketing Association – Atlanta Chapter.  Please go to their website to register for their monthly events www.bmaatlanta.com/events
