BUSINESS SOLUTIONS Heidi Jannenga with WebPT and Scott Marsh with Mind and Body Strengthening

With 30% market share, WebPT is the leading rehab therapy platform for enhancing patient care and fueling business growth. Operating under an overarching mission to empower rehab therapists to achieve greatness in practice, WebPT currently serves more than 80,000 rehab therapists, providing documentation, scheduling, billing, outcomes tracking, analytics reporting, lefferts201705044140patient relationship management, and system integrations.

WebPT’s mission has always been rooted in serving a deeper purpose and a higher vision—and that philosophy revolves around culture, people, and conscious leadership. In line with the tenets of Conscious Capitalism, the WebPT team believes in giving all stakeholders a voice—and considering them before making any important business decisions. This includes employees, customers, vendors, partners, and investors. WebPT focuses on the “we” instead of the “me”—and the executive team is integral to fostering this approach. With that in mind, WebPT leaders put forth a concerted effort to continually inspire, challenge, and collaborate with their team members in a highly visible, hands-on way. And it’s through their mission to serve a deeper purpose and their commitment to maintaining a people-first mentality that WebPT has achieved sustained growth and success.

Heidi-Jannenga-WebPT-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXDr. Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, ATC/L, is the Co-Founder and President of WebPT, the country’s leading rehab therapy EMR platform for enhancing patient care and fueling business growth. Since the company’s launch in 2008, Heidi has guided WebPT through exponential growth. Today, it’s the fastest-growing physical therapy software in the country, employing nearly 500 people and serving more than 75,000 therapy professionals at more than 12,000 clinics. WebPT has also ranked five consecutive times on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list and twice on the Inc. 500. Heidi has been recognized as one of Health Data Management’s Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT, an Entrepreneur of the Year finalist by Ernst & Young, a Most Admired Leader and Tech Titan by the Phoenix Business Journal, among other accolades.

Prior to co-founding WebPT, Heidi practiced as a physical therapist for more than 15 years. Today, she regularly speaks as a subject-matter expert at local and regional StandUp-1technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership events, as well as at national PT industry conferences.

Heidi serves on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Arizona Science Center, Support My Club, the Physical Therapy Political Action Committee (PT-PAC), the Institute for Private Practice Physical Therapy, Conscious Capitalism AZ Chapter, and the Arizona Community Foundation. She also dedicates time to mentorship within WebPT (through her women’s empowerment group PropelHer) and in the broader community (through her work with physical therapy students and local entrepreneurs).

ScottMarsh1The New Warrior Program was inspired by helping one future sailor get “in shape” for boot camp. The goal was to have his body and mind prepared for the stresses that he would endure at bootcamp. As they went through six months of training, Scott and team helped him with exercise selection and form. A nutritional plan was also established. He was drinking more than enough soda each day. We asked for a commitment of no soda, sugar, or highly refined foods for the six months. He made the commitment and later stated feeling much better overall.

After shipping out to bootcamp, Scott knew he couldn’t be the only one who needs help. Scott went to the local Armed Forces recruiting station, where he explained his vision for the new program. Coincidentally they had a meeting later that same day with recruits and invited him to attend and speak with the future sailors. Scott explained what he was offering and that there was no cost to them. In the following weeks, the Marine and Army stations shared his vision. The meetings were well received and we have been moving forward with recruits. This is our way of showing appreciation for the amazing service these recruits will provide our country.

Please help support our New Warriors as they prepare to ship out to begin to serve our country and defend our freedoms.

The New Warrior Program is designed to prepare them physically and nutritionally for the demands that will be placed on them in bootcamp and beyond. There is no cost to the recruits to participate in the New Warrior Program. Your donations will go directly to our trainers, equipment and supplies needed by the recruits.

Scott-Marsh-Mind-and-Body-Strengthening-on-Phoenix-Business-RadioXScott Marsh completed his BA in Physical & Health Education from Saginaw Valley State University in 1991. In 1994 he became certified as a C.S.C.S. ( Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) through National Strength & Conditioning Association(NSCA), which is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. The NSCA supports and disseminates research based knowledge and its practical application to help assess, motivate, educate, and train clients.

Upon graduating from SVSU he worked in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic for seven years in addition to personal training. At the clinic he worked with patients to execute their exercise programs for their injury or trauma to the musculoskeletal system(muscles and bones of the body). This includes sprains, strains, post fracture, post surgery, repetitive injuries, and degenerative diseases, ie. degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis(degenerative bone disease), and arthritis(degenerative joint disease).

When a patient had completed their physical therapy they still need to continue to exercise and do their physical therapy exercises. Scott would design the home program based around their specific condition, needs and equipment available.

After Scott left the clinic to focus full-time on his Personal Training business, he has taken his experience and knowledge gained from the clinic to help his fitness clients reach their health and fitness goals with an injury free environment and proper form being the two most important criteria.

Scott has enjoyed helping people for the last 25 years reach their health and fitness goals and, maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He has also started The New Warrior Program which is a fitness and ScottMarshnutrition program, at no charge to the recruits, prepare for bootcamp and beyond.

Throughout his career as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist he is required to renew his certification bi-annually. He does this by attending National conferences, Personal Training conferences, taking quizzes, and maintaining his CPR certification. He is a “information junky”. He is always reading the latest research and publications to stay current and up to date so his clients have the best programs to meet their individual needs.

Lion HospiceSusanne Sperry has first hand experience witnessing the benefits of hospice care. Both of her grandmothers were under the care of hospice while her grandfathers were not. Having seen both sides of the end of life stage she decided to pursue degrees in Social Sciences and Healthcare Administration. She is now the Administrator of Lion Hospice.  According to Susanne, Lion Hospice recognizes that the dying process is a part of the normal process of living and focuses on enhancing the quality of remaining life. As such, she takes great pride in helping seniors and their families navigate all phases of their hospice experience.

Lori Sulak has always had a soft place in her heart seniors.  Growing up, she had a very strong relationship with her grandparents that led her to become a caregiver after she graduated from high school. Twenty two years ago, she entered the senior housing industry. After spending time in skilled nursing, independent living, assisted living and most recently electronic monitoring, she decided she wanted to work with the frailest of the frail at Lion Hospice. Susanne and Lori can be reached via phone at 817-268-2145.  Their email addresses are as follows: lsulak@lionhospice.com and ssperry@lionhospice.com.  Visit Lion Hospice on the web at www.lionhospice.com.

Meier, AnthonyAnthony Meier, MPT, is the Center Manager for the Decatur Irvin Select Physical Therapy clinic in Decatur, Georgia.  He received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1999, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio in 1993.  After his undergraduate work, Anthony took a job in product planning and inventory control.  After a number of years, he realized that this job wasn’t where he wanted to spend his career.  He started volunteering at a physical therapy clinic, and decided to take classes at Georgia State to become a physical therapist.  After completing his graduate work, Anthony took a position at Select Physical Therapy.  After 12 years, I think it’s safe to say Anthony has found his calling.  Anthony was also joined in the studio today by Venika Benjamin, who serves as the Administrative Service Manager for Select Physical Therapy for the Atlanta metro area.  To reach Anthony, call the clinic at 404-297-0821, send him an email at ameier@hq.novacare.com, or visit their website at www.selectphysicaltherapy.com.

Moore, MeredithHaving hosted many radio shows, Meredith Moore is no stranger to the studio.  Meredith’s primary business is Moore & Associates, an Atlanta-based Wealth Management firm.  She tells us the firm specializes in coordinating the work of the many advisors, insurance agents, accountants, etc. that are often involved in managing an individual’s financial affairs.  She also specializes in exit strategies for small business owners.  Today, Meredith had a different topic on her mind.  She is also a board member of an Atlanta non-profit called Kate’s Club.  This organization empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. By creating friendships with kids and young adults that share the experience, Kate’s Club guides children through their grief journey in a comfortable, safe, and uplifting setting.

Kate’s Club has a unique event coming up to help raise money to support it’s efforts.  The event is a 2k and 10k race in Grant Park on May 21 at 8:15AM.  The name of the event is GeneRacetion, and is a joint effort with Senior Citizens Services of Atlanta.  This event will bring together both young and old in an effort to spotlight the need for guidance for these children that have been impacted by the tragic loss of a parent or sibling.  If you would like more information, or would like to register for this event, either as a participant or a sponsor, call Meredith at 770-587-0281, or visit the event website at www.generacetion.org.

Haven Home Health compressedTiming is everything!  Particularly for Aqua Umoren.  Originally from Seattle Washington, Aqua moved to New Orleans to attend Xavier University.  After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Management, he went on to attend the University of New Orleans for his Masters.  Early in 2004, Aqua made a decision to move to the Dallas area to pursue his career – several months before Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans.  Today, Aqua is Area Director for Haven Home Health.  He loves the philosophy of the company that focuses on both the welfare of their staff, and the direct interaction and service to their patients.

Olivia Haynes seems to have missed her true calling, as she is an absolute NATURAL on the air!  A Dallas native, Olivia strayed from Texas long enough to earn a degree at the University of Oklahoma.  She has spent her career in human resources, getting her feet wet in the healthcare industry at a long term care facility.  A year and a half, she found her home at Haven Home Health, where she works as a Senior Healthcare Recruiter.  She tells us that she particularly looks for staff that are critical thinkers and exceptional communicators.  She prides Haven Home Health on the quality of their staff, and, as such, is extremely careful about the prospective employees that she invites to join the team.  To get more information about Haven Home Health, call them at (972) 644-3000, or visit them on the web at www.3hllc.com.

After gruaduating from college, Durbin, SandraSandra Durbin moved from Ohio to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to work with juvenile delinquents in Ft. Lauderdale.  After moving to Atlanta, she decided to change careers.  Little did she know she would simply be working with OLDER juvenile delinquents.  Today, Sandra is a Senior Director of Community Relations for Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody.  Brighton Gardens is part of the Sunrise family, and thus the oldest assisted living company in the US.  Having worked for Sunrise for a number of years now, Sandra loves the sense of community at Sunrise.  One of the unique projects being undertaken by Brighton Gardens is their Ageless Design Symposium.  Coming up from May 13 to May 15, Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody will be taking four of their apartments and showcasing Aging in Place improvements to help seniors stay in their homes as their conditions progress – whether physical or cognitive.  In addition, join Brighton Gardens on May 19 for a Taste of Sunrise.  Brighton Gardens is also hosting both a Mothers Day Brunch or a Father’s Day Barbecue that will benefit the Diabetes Association.  To find out more, contact Sandra at 678-896-5650, visit them on the web at www.bgdunwoody.com, or stop by their Ashford Center location in Dunwoody for a tour!

As everyone knows Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy were invited to the Healthy Living Expo in Knoxville, TN this past weekend. It was awesome. We got to hang out with some of our fans, some past guests and some of the vendors at the show.

On the night before the show began we connected with Dan Brady, who you might remember we interviewed awhile back about the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer that is featured on the Biggest Loser TV show. Dr Fitness, Dan, his colleague Ginny Kappler, our Producer Stone Payton and I decided to walk over to a dive Mexican restaurant called SoccerTaco for some margaritas, I mean dinner.

We have an awesome time…a lot of embarrassing stories and a lot of laughs. I mean we talked only about business stuff.

So on the first day of the show we interview Dan and Ginny and they do a great job telling us all about the NuStep. How it started in the rehab world and is now making its way direct to consumers. Listen for yourself here.

I don’t remember exactly how this happened but someone had the bright idea to do another interview but this time bring the NuStep machine to our booth and have Dr Fitness work out on the NuStep while we do the interview. You know Dr Fitness cannot pass up a chance to workout. It has been his dream since we started doing the show to workout while we do our show – and as the video attests his dream has come true.

So as you can see we had Dr Fitness sweating up a storm while we interviewed Ginny and Wes Franks from Provision Physical Therapy. Wes was familiar with the NuStep as he had used it before.
