Sarah Watchko/Hill & Watchko

Sarah R. Watchko is a partner with the law firm Hill & Watchko, LLC, located in Alpharetta, Georgia. Her practice areas include elder law, estate, and special needs planning, long-term care planning with Medicaid benefits and Department of Veterans Affairs pension benefits, and trust and estate administration. Sarah is one of very few Georgia Certified Elder Law Attorneys (“CELA”) by the National Elder Law Foundation, the only national certifying program for elder law and special needs attorneys.

Sarah graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University in 2005, and obtained a full merit scholarship to Wake Forest University School of Law, graduating from Wake Forest in 2008. She developed a passion for working with elderly and special needs clients during her time at Wake Forest School of Law’s Elder Law Clinic during the summer of 2007. Upon graduation, this led her to Atlanta Legal Aid’s Georgia Senior Legal Hotline, where she volunteered and eventually worked as a staff attorney. She entered private practice in 2009, and joined her current firm in 2013.

Blake is a Senior Wealth Strategist at Synovus Family Asset Management, a multi-family office housed within Synovus Financial Corp., N.A. Prior to joining FAM in 2007, Blake was in private practice with Page, Scrantom, Sprouse, Tucker, and Ford. Blake earned his BA in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law (cum laude), and his LL.M. in tax from the University of Alabama School of Law (summa cum laude). Vivian Wright/Common Sense Solutions

Born in Atlanta, Vivian actually spent her formative years in Carrollton, Ga.  She studied Early Childhood Education at the University of West Georgia and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.  She began her career at The First National Bank of Atlanta in 1981 as a secretary. Vivian quickly became enamored with numbers and within six months was promoted to Tax Analyst, preparing trust, charitable, employer and estate tax returns.  While continuing to pursue a career in Trust and Investment Management, Vivian simultaneously earned her B.S. in Accounting from Georgia State University.

She is a graduate of Southern Trust School (1991), Cannon Financial Institute, National Trust School (1994) and National Graduate Trust School (1996). In 1992 Vivian was inducted among the distinguished charter designees as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.   Frequently recognized, Vivian earned Outstanding Performer awards repeatedly during her tenure at both Wells Fargo (then) Wachovia and SunTrust Bank.

Jeanne Canavan has been with the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office for twenty years, and she currently heads the white-collar crime/elder exploitation unit. Under Ms. Canavan’s leadership, the unit has aggressively prosecuted “travelers”, fraudulent repairmen, professional caregivers, investment advisors and family members who have victimized elder citizens. Paul Black/Brannon + Black

Paul Black’s experience as the son of two parents with big health challenges is what led him to the work he does today. His mother has wrestled with Parkinson’s Disease for more than two decades. His father suffered a major stroke in May 2001. Paul’s active involvement in their care gives him first-hand knowledge of the challenges that many caregivers and family members face.

While attending Georgia State University College of Law, Paul gained invaluable experience interning at the two senior-oriented divisions of Atlanta Legal Aid Society, the Georgia Senior Legal Hotline and the Senior Citizens Law Project. Millie Baumbusch, Gaslowitz FrankelMillie Baumbusch is a litigator specializing in trust and estate matters. This includes contested will cases, claimes regarding trust and estate accountings, claims for breaches of fiduciary duty andabuses of powers of attorney, and a variety of disputes involving trust and esatte holdings in companies and partnerships.

A significant portion of Millie’s practice involves contested adult guardianships and conservatorships. Millie is certified in civil collaborative practice. She has made CLE presentations and lectured on guardianships, how to avoid estate disputes, and other related topics.

Prior to beginning her law practice with Gaslowitz Frankel, Millie was a lending officer to middle market companies at a New York money center bank. During her time there, she held several positions in strategic planning and market research. Millie currently serves on the Board of Directors of the ALS Association Georgia Chapter. Millie joined Gaslowitz Frankel in 2007.

A rare native of Georgia, Chris Brannon grew up in Gwinnett County, and went on to attend The University of Georgia.  After graduating from UGA, Chris pursued his dream to be an attorney by attending law school at Ole Miss.  Chris is a founding partner in the law practice of Duhon & Brannon, LLC. Mr. Brannon is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Georgia Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association.
