About Brad Anderson

I grew up on a family farm in northern Colorado and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University. After graduation, I returned to the farm where I worked in partnership with my father for 10 years.

I was then selected as the Executive Vice President of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, a position I held for 15 years. During my tenure, the organization expanded its membership to include dairy and pork producers and became the Colorado Livestock Association.

Wanting to expand my knowledge and take on new challenges, I became a partner in an automobile dealership.

In 2010 I became a financial advisor with Edward Jones and joined the Greater Vail area Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, I purchased a Farmers Insurance Agency, which I have owned for the past 3 years.

In May of 2020, I became the President/CEO of the Vail Chamber.

I see numerous opportunities and challenges the community has ahead of it as it continues to grow at a dramatic rate.

As an advocate for business growth, I hope to help guide the Chamber to play a key role in influencing Vail’s future to enhance growth opportunities and advanced economic development in the Greater Vail area.

Paula Pedene, APR, Fellow PRSA, has a well-earned reputation as a public relations strategist and counselor in both government and nonprofit realms.

She currently serves as Executive Director of the nonprofit Honoring America’s Veterans and as Owner/Principal of her public relations firm Paula Pedene & Associates. In these roles, she provides strategic counsel to senior leaders and managers and builds trusted relationships between them and their stakeholders.

Pedene is a five-time PRSA Silver Anvil award recipient for Institutional Programs (2004), Reputation Management (2007), Community Outreach (2010, 2020), and Public Service (2020).

Her leadership awards include the Percy Award from the Phoenix PRSA Chapter, the Platinum Leadership Award from the PRSA Western District, and the Senator John McCain Inspirational Leadership Award in Arizona.

She is a member of the PRSA College of Fellows, a member of the PRSA Board of Ethics and Professional Standards, and she earned distinction as a PRSA PR Pro of the Year (2015) for her ethical stand as a Phoenix VA Whistleblower. In this realm, she was able to help expose the VA Wait Time Scandal and call for change to legislation and accountability within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Soldier’s Best Friend provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that touches two lives at once and inspires countless others.

Soldier’s Best Friend is devoted to helping our veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). A second part of our goal is to make a positive impact on the pet overpopulation problem. We are dedicated to pairing and training service dogs with veterans at no cost to the veteran.

Through his veterinary practice, our Founder, Dr. Burnham worked with veterans and cared for their pets. He saw how the interaction with the animals helped returning veterans interact more comfortably in civilian environments and an idea was sparked. With the support of his devoted wife and business partner, Jan, the organization was founded in 2011 and became a reality.

John’s goal was to create a nonprofit devoted to placing and training service dogs for our veterans, at no cost to them. He also wanted to acquire many of the dogs through local rescue organizations, thus helping Arizona’s pet overpopulation problem.

We offer training in Flagstaff, Prescott, Phoenix (East and West Valley), Tucson, and Sierra Vista. Using the owner/handler model, our professional Service Dog Trainers train the veteran to train their canine partner.

While our program is provided at no cost to our veterans, the average cost of a team from accepting through graduation (which takes a minimum of 6-9 months) is approximately $5,000. By the end of 2020, 302 veteran/dog teams have graduated from our program and over 183 dogs have been rescued from shelter and rescue partners across the state of Arizona.

Aaron Anderson, CEO of Axxeum Partners and franchise owner of four Original Hot Dog Factory restaurants, partnered with Chef Reuben Harley to launch the new business in 2020. While nearly half of Black-owned businesses were forced to close during the pandemic, renowned Philadelphia entrepreneur Anderson found creative ways to not only stay open, but to also grow, by pivoting and adapting to current trends.

“I will do all I can to make sure I can not only thrive during this time but will motivate others to do the same,” said Anderson.

In addition to his four Original Hot Dog Factory locations in Center City, The Bourse Food Hall, Fishtown and Subaru Park, in summer 2020 he opened another franchise in Philadelphia and is in negotiations for one in New York. Menu items include the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Dog, topped with grilled pineapples, sweet onions and a sweet island sauce; a surf ‘n’ turf dog; an all-beet hot dog topped with lump crab meat and the Italian dog, a deep-fried sausage topped with peppers and onion. The Original Hot Dog Factory also serves chicken wings, burgers, fries and corn dog nuggets.

Anderson credits some of his success during the pandemic to catering to first responders and essential workers, and making sure all his employees and take-out customers are in a safe environment to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with social distancing, face masks and the installation of self-service kiosks.

Born and raised in the tough inner city of Philadelphia, Anderson credits his mother, a single parent of five, with his unyielding strength, discipline, humility, passion and persistent need to be of service to those in need. Anderson’s foray into being a business owner — the very first in his family — started with the launch of his own screen-printing company in 2009, Union Printing. The idea to start this company culminated while working as an assistant to a top record company executive at Mega Brand in New York City.

Anderson realized a need to provide quality merchandise for an affordable price after seeing an invoice at work and convinced his bosses that he could not only meet the demand for the record label’s printing needs but most importantly for a far better price. As the saying goes, the rest is history. Nikki A. Beasley is the Executive Director of Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. She joined the organization in 2016 after retiring from a 25 year career in banking and financial services. Although new to housing, she had a strong infinity to community and service. Because of her leadership, RNHS has doubled it’s property management rental portfolio for low to moderate income families through multifamily acquisition. Nikki established the organization’s Changing the Narrative of Homeownership Initiative, started the Lender Ready program in 2017 assisting over 100 new first time home buyer‘s secure ownership, established RNHS Money Matter’s Series which the organization host monthly, and became small site infill developers in 2018.

RNHS has also become a staple in the housing conversation throughout the Bay Area and Region advocating for tenant and landlord rights, consumer affairs, fair housing, working with municipality to address zoning, and creating equable programs for it’s residents through the organization’s mission and focus to lift up homeownership as a tool to addressing housing need(s). The work was launched as RNHS launched it’s Filbert Promise Homeownership project in 2018. This acquisition started the organization’s conversation and advocacy around uncoupling race and income related to the lack of subsidy for production of homeownership projects targeting 80- 120% AMI (Area median income aka Missing Middle, Workforce Housing) addressing the wealth gap and disparity in communities of color. This development project has sparked a new initiative that Nikki has launched – the Emerging Developers program in 2020; assisting Black developers, addressing the barriers new developers face in securing projects.
