“He may sound like an earthier, cleverer Ben Harper, but musically Dalton suggests mid-’80s Prince in the way he defiantly straddles so many styles, requiring an enormous musical arsenal to get his point across. These juxtapositions of sounds and style rarely feel forced or even deliberate, courtesy of Dalton’s soulful vocals and incisive songwriting.” – PASTE MAGAZINE

Micah Dalton began erecting signposts to chart the course of his musical progression back in 2004 with his pop-inflected full-length debut, These Are the Roots. Next came 2006’s seven-song Advancement EP, which displayed moments of kinship with Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye, but was anything but an exercise in imitation. In countless clubs, theaters, coffeehouses and colleges east of the Mississippi, Dalton has shared the stage with a variety of national acts.

In 2007, he also signed on with unique Athens-based nonprofit indie Rebuilt Records. In 2012 Dalton released “Blue Frontier,” collaborating with some of Nashville’s most celebrated songwriters – Trent Dabbs, Liz Longley, and Drew Holcomb. The momentum is continually building as Dalton is set to release cabin sessions through thisislvmusic in 2019.

In 2014 , Dalton founded Dwayne Shivers – a folk ensemble from East Atlanta, GA, After more than ten years of touring, six releases, and exhibiting an “appealingly intrepid mixture of folk, blues, soul, and R&B” (Obscure Sound), Dalton formed the band to match a new artistic direction and vision.

Dwayne’s 2014 debut EP, recorded in Athens, GA, was marked as a “batch of new-generation spirituals and fleecy, exquisite blues” by CMT Edge. From 2015-2017 Dalton worked to finish the Dwayne Shivers debut full-length album along with Anthony Aparo (Improvement Movement), Brooklyn-based producer Jeremy McDonald (Kevin Garrett, Welcome Wagon) and mix engineer Jason Kingsland (Belle & Sebastian, Deerhunter, Iron & Wine).” In 2017, the single “Waking Light” (with Kyshona Armstrong) was featured on CBS’ “Criminal Minds,” ABC’s “Conviction,” and CBS’ “Salvation.” The debut album “Buffered & Blest”, is slated for an early 2019 release.

Dalton also serves as artistic director and self described “community coach” for artists advocacy non-profit ATL Collective.

Conrad Cornell and Drew Williams realized there wasn’t a single athlete from any level around the world that had a publicly accessible profile with highlights from their entire career dating back to the multi-sport middle school and high school days. They are currently solving this problem for many of the top young athletes in the United States with Press Sports.

Drew Williams is 24 years old and was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. Growing up, he attended The Lovett School. Drew was a big fan of sports, playing multiple sports growing up like baseball, football and basketball. Drew attended and studied Marketing and Corporate Relations at the University of Mississippi and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Conrad and Drew have known each other since the age of 4 and always ran small businesses growing up. When they were in elementary school, they would make bats out of bamboo and duct tape wallets for people in the neighborhood.

In high school, Drew and Conrad attended rival schools and actually decided to start a car wash business at the age of 16 called “DC Carwash”. They knew at a young age they would want to start something together. Once in college, Conrad and Drew discussed multiple ideas, but decided on a business that would allow athletes to upload and share their sports highlights to a fan base that actually wanted to see them, while also having an easily accessible, mobile profile to hold these highlights.

Drew and Conrad decided to pursue this dream, and began looking for an accelerator program. They looked at ATV, WeWorks, and ATDC. At the end of the day, they chose ATDC, not only because of the great reviews and success ATDC brings to start ups, but also because they were big Georgia Tech fans growing up. They used to attend football games together, watching Calvin Johnson and Reggie Ball play.

Drew and Conrad look forward to the success of Press Sports and are working everyday to bring their vision to a reality.

BRX Pro Tip: How to Be a Good Guest Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Lee Kantor and Stone Payton here with you. Lee, let’s talk about — let’s share some some tips for being a good guest on the Business RadioX network or, I suppose, on any show.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:15] I think one of the key components of a good guest or key attributes is the ability to tell a story. When you have stories to tell that illustrate your expertise and success stories of clients, that’s where stuff really comes alive. That’s where you really have an opportunity to do something memorable. And then, you’ll be able to create content that you’ll be able to use again, and again, and again.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:39] So I would start thinking about stories, kind of crafting stories that really illustrate how well you do what you do and why you’re so unique in the marketplace. And don’t be afraid to be a little vulnerable and tell kind of the good, the bad, the ugly of things because it makes you more like a human being. A lot of — people are tired of this slick, “I got everything figured out. Just trust me and hand over your lunch money.” Nobody wants to kind of do business that way anymore. They understand that things are hard. There’s some times that you make a mistake. They care more about how you fix the mistake rather than knowing that everything’s going to work perfect every single time.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:20] So, act like a normal human being, tell good stories, don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, and don’t forget to give out your contact information and best ways to reach you. And make sure that on those pages that you do have stuff that they can kind of learn more and take next steps to do a business with you.

Stone Payton: [00:01:38] And I would say with specific respect to the Business RadioX network, and there are other radio shows out there that are this way, come prepared to have an authentic, just genuine conversation. I know when I was first introduced to the Business RadioX network, and I had my very first interview here, I came in, you know, arm for bear, right? Because I’d been on those other radio shows where you had those quick little quips, and in and out, and talking points. So, at least, for the Business RadioX Network interviews, just come in ready to be a real person and have a genuine conversation.

Lee Kantor: [00:02:11] Right. Don’t be afraid to talk about your why. Don’t be afraid to share information, tips, and tricks, and tactics. That’s all good stuff. But the bottom line is just be a normal person that isn’t too polished and isn’t too slick. People want to know the real you.

BRX Pro Tip: How Smart Listeners Use the BRX Search Bar to Grow Their Business Transcript

Stone Payton: [00:00:01] And we are back with BRX Pro Tips. Stone Payton and Lee Kantor here with you, Lee, talk a little bit about how we’ve discovered smart listeners out there in the marketplace are using the search bar on the Business RadioX website to actually grow their business.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:17] Yeah. This is one of those things where it’s hiding in plain sight. On the Business RadioX website, we have a search bar. And in that search bar, you can search for people’s names. So, that’s a great thing to do. If you have a list of prospects that you’re calling on, and you just want to hear them talk, and hear what they sound like, you could just, instead of Googling them on the internet, Google them on our website, and then you can listen to interviews. A lot of people – movers and shakers in this city – have been on a variety of shows. You can hear their interviews. You can hear them kind of articulate what’s important to them, what things they like in business, what things they don’t like. You can really get good intel just by doing that.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:56] Another thing to do, especially if you’re new to the marketplace, and you don’t know who to call on, is search by topic. So, if you’re interested in Fintech firms, or CPAs, or whatever, craft brewers, you can just throw that into the search bar, and you’re going to find a bunch of people doing that kind of work. And they may be the people that are doing that kind of work, or they might be the service providers that are doing work for those type of people. So, you don’t know who you’re going to find when you do that.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:21] And, again, you’re going to hear them talk about their industry and talk about what they do in very authentic, conversational way. This is going to be long form. You’re not going to get an eight-minute interview. This is going to be 10, 15, 20 minutes of them talking about what they do and why they do it. So, you’re going to get really good information that you can, then, reach back out to them and say, “Hey, I heard from Business RadioX, and you talked about this as being a challenge. Hey, my company does this. We might be able to help you.” So, it’ll show that you did your homework. It will show that you really paid attention to things that are important to them. And now, you have an elegant way to reach out to them that’s going to stand out from every other salesperson that calls on them.
