Dodie and Ron Long with Park Smarts for Kids and Peter Gantner with kulaBrands

June 21, 2017 by angishields

Park Smarts for Kids publishes a series of educational activity books covering America’s National Parks. The books are designed for children 4-years-old and up. The books are each site specific to individual parks. There currently are 22 published titles and ultimately will include 120 different parks and monuments. The books are designed to teach important facts on the parks and the content reinforces knowledge acquisition through repetition in puzzles, games and artwork. They are created to encourage and promote educational interaction between adults and children. Site specific board games are in development and there shortly will be a crowdfunding campaign launched to support game development and early production and marketing. Kulabrands is leading the crowdfunding campaign. Park Smarts for Kids was created by Dodie Long after spending six years as the CEO of a 50-year-old publishing company which published text books on America’s national parks and monuments where she developed extensive networking with national park and monument personnel. She has more than 25 years’ experience in managing and, later, owning companies. She has extensive sales, marketing and operations experience, and has earned a bachelor degree in accounting. She serves multiple accounting clients, including Kulabrands, in Phoenix and elsewhere. She creates all the art in all the books, while her husband, Ron Long, creates the educational content of the books, including puzzles and subject matter. Ron Long's background includes earning bachelor degrees in Journalism, Marketing and Public Relations. He owned a Marketing Communications company in San Francisco and served clients such as Pendleton Woolen Mills, Qantas Air, Duraflame and many others. He spent years as a writer, news reporter and editor of newspapers, magazines and broadcasting. He has invented multiple water and food purification devices and has been awarded five patents by the US Patent Office. He founded, owned and operated a substantial manufacturing company in Northern California. Both Dodie and Ron are avid members and supporters of Kulabrands (also featured on this episode). Park Smarts is operated in Wickenburg, AZ. Peter Gantner is the founder and creative entrepreneur at the helm of kulaBrands. Determined to change the home-based industry model, Peter was inspired to create an innovative company for the people and by the people. The kulaBrands’ unique business model is patent pending and radically changing the home-based business model giving Community members the opportunity to position themselves to earn a true, lifelong residual income. Peter began his entrepreneur career at age 12 selling candy “for a profit” to his classmates. Early on he realized being an entrepreneur was exactly what he wanted to do in life. One of Peter’s early successes was Crazy Bones, a collectible mini game toy sensation. Along with his partners, Peter launched Crazy Bones in the United States in the late ‘90s. kulaBrands is dedicated to locating unique inventions that are looking for a way to get manufactured and find channels of distribution. By leveraging its community of members to bring these invention to market successfully kulaBrands is the answer that these inventors are looking for.

Sarah Freeman, Owner of Network Hardware Supply Distribution (NHSD), partners with clients to offer network infrastructure solutions that are tailored to their desires as well as their needs. Between the refurbished hardware options, buyback program, repair services, vendor liaisons, and their own line of compatible optical transceivers, NHSD clients have the flexibility to choose how to design their networks to fit the long term vision of their company.

Freeman has over 12 years of experience in the IT wholesale industry. She started in New York, working for a server/storage reseller. Her role was to develop the refurbished networking hardware product line. By 2012, she had gained enough industry knowledge to pursue an ownership role and partnered with Network Hardware Supply (est. 2007) in Arizona. The following year, she made the big move from small town Western New York to the main warehouse location in Tucson. From there, she was able to develop and streamline processes, creating greater efficiency in all areas of the daily operations. By the start of 2016, the other partners had decided to pursue other interests, leaving her with the opportunity to advance. Seizing the opportunity, she launched NHSD in June 2016 while successfully maintaining business continuity throughout the transition. She spent the first year revitalizing the infrastructure while creating a growth plan that has her on track to double her earnings in her second year. She is currently working on another growth plan to up-level again in year three. Her vision is to create a fun, positive atmosphere where she can help her employees and clients can create their own success while growing as individuals.

Freeman is serving her third year as an officer on the Board of Directors for UNEDA (you-need-a), an international trade association for IT hardware brokers. She is involved with the Women in Technology group at Pima Community College and is developing an internship program, offering hands on experience for future network engineers. She enjoys giving back to the community and plans to use her success to help young women gain interest in pursuing IT related careers. To learn more about NHSD, visit their website and follow them on Facebook.

If you take a look at on-line or Healthgrade reviews, most patients say they “love their doctor – but can’t stand the front/back office staff”. Passion for Patients™ is an on-site, interactive training program for front and back office staff that focuses on interpersonal and communication skills.

A lot of physicians and practice administrators complain about high staff turnover, tension or bickering among employees, finding and retaining the best talent for the team.  Practices that have completed the Passion for Patients™ training have found their teams to be more collaborative, communicative, and effective.  People want to work there!  And patients have a better experience!

Gina Ore, Founder and CEO with Passion for Patients™, has spent her career leading grassroots, established and start-up non-profit foundations to the next level of success. Along with her personal experiences and a Masters Degree in Innovative Leadership, she has enjoyed more than 25 years of relationship engagement and successful fundraising. Ore has worked closely with and developed deep connections with medical professionals, generous donors, and dedicated volunteers who have supported healthcare, human services, and medical research. She has worked in the largest physician-owned practice in Arizona and participated in health system acquistions.

Ore has been very involved in the healthcare associations including the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Arizona Women in Healthcare, and Hon Kachina Council. She has also served in leadership roles in the Rotary Club of Sun City West, The West Valley Symphony, Art Museum of the West Valley, and the Sun Cities Area Minsterial Association. To find out more about Gina and Passion for Patients visit her website, and follow her on LinkedIn and Facebook.
