Tyler Ogburn Photography and KEYLAY Design

This week, co-hosts Emma Foulkes of Greenwood Wealth Management, and Bruce Logue, of Common Ground Real Estate, and members of Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC), were joined in the studio by Tyler Ogburn of Tyler Ogburn Photography and Kyle Strahl, of KEYLAY Design.

Tyler Ogburn shared how he developed a passion for capturing images of people when he was young, ultimately deciding to make a career in photography.  Ogburn’s website describes his work this way, “The images you and I create will always have an upscale fashion flair. These are techniques and styles I crafted from my experience living in incredible cities around the world: from Melbourne, Australia to New York to Atlanta. My style can be described as high-contrast and dynamic with a coy play between shadow and light.”

KEYLAY Design describes their firm, “KEYLAY is a full-service, Atlanta graphic design agency that specializes in big ideas for small businesses. Those ideas are produced by an expertly crafted team built on innovation, experience, reliability and passion for creative work. Together, we deliver an experience to our clients based on several principles…”

Emma Foulkes recently rebranded her wealth management firm to Greenwood Wealth Management.  Greenwood Wealth management is a merging of different individual companies and financial advisors who have come together to be the beacon of light in the murky waters of the financial industry. Said Foulkes, “We get in the face of the industry when they try to work in the gray areas of putting their best interest above the needs of the clients. At Greenwood our clients come first.”

Bruce Logue talked about the new realty office he became part of, Common Ground Real Estate.  Bruce explains, “I have a true passion for real estate and I’m never too busy to help you find your way home! Prior to entering the real estate profession, my focused on marketing implementation and fulfillment. I have also engineered processes to enhance customer satisfaction for various businesses in the financial services and utility industries. I’m active in many business associations throughout the Greater Atlanta area and considers myself a professional networker. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I also lived in the St. Augustine, FL area for 20 years before relocating to Atlanta in 2006 and deciding that I’d finally found my way home.”

Fred Levin gifts $550,000 to UWF to establish new institute
Pensacola, Fla. – April 17, 2017 – Attorney and community advocate Fred Levin is investing $550,000 in the University of West Florida to establish the Reubin O’D. Askew Institute for Multidisciplinary Studies. The gift will also help the University purchase land to house the Institute.
The Institute will substantially further UWF’s leadership in STEAM initiatives – combined applications of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Activities within the Institute will include increased visibility of potential STEAM initiatives, partnerships with area schools and businesses, internships and research opportunities.
“This gift can be a game-changer for UWF,” said UWF President Martha Saunders. “It allows us to build on the existing strengths of the University to create one-of-a-kind approaches to teaching and learning. I am grateful for the trust Mr. Levin has placed in us.”
In addition, the Institute has the flexibility of supporting numerous opportunities for integrating humanities and social science disciplines toward solving community problems. It will draw on existing strengths of the University to inspire relevant research.
Reubin O’D. Askew was an American politician who served as the 37th governor of the state of Florida from 1971 to 1979. In 1974, he became the first governor in Florida history to be elected to a second consecutive four-year term. During his two terms as governor, Askew was primarily involved in tax reform, especially in the increase of homestead exemption and passage of the “Sunshine Amendment,” which called for full financial disclosure by public officials and candidates. In 1955, David Levin, Fred’s deceased older brother, and Askew founded the law firm of Levin & Askew. In 1961, Fred Levin joined the firm.
“Governor Askew, besides being a friend and a law partner, was one of those rare persons who lived the principles he spoke,” said Levin. “He would not abide a curse word on a tennis court, nor would he abide a false statement in a court of law. As Governor, his only guideline was to ask whether it was good for the people of Florida. If it was not the right thing to do, he would not do it, regardless the political fallout. There is a reason why he was the first Governor in modern Florida history to be re-elected for a second term. Hopefully, the students and faculty who come to know Governor Askew will be inspired to do good for its own sake, and to serve the people with the humility and dedication that he practiced.”
More than 20 years ago, Levin gifted an endowed professorship at UWF in honor of his father, Abe Levin, which is now worth more than $400,000. With the establishment of the Institute, this professorship will be directly associated with the Institute and will be dedicated to arranging visiting scientists, writers and creatives to enhance intellectual capital. The endowed professorship, his recent gift of $100,000 to support UWF Football and the $550,000 contribution to establish the Askew Institute total more than $1 million in giving.
Levin is one of the most successful trial attorneys in the country. He has received more than 25 jury verdicts in excess of $1 million, six of which were in excess of $10 million. He is best known for rewriting Florida’s Medicaid Third-Party Recovery Act to allow the state of Florida to recover billions of dollars from the tobacco industry for smoking-related illnesses. He is a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates, an organization limited to 100 members throughout the country, and he has been listed in every edition of the publication, “Best Lawyers in America.”
Among his accomplishments, Levin was named The Trial Lawyer of the Year by the National Trial Lawyers for 2015. He was also inducted into the Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame in 2009, which is located at Temple Law School in Philadelphia. Other honors include receiving the Perry Nichols Award in 1994, which is the highest honor bestowed by the Florida Justice Association and is given in recognition for a person’s lifetime achievements in the pursuit of justice.
Levin’s tremendous professional success has enabled him to donate generously in support of higher education. In 1999, he donated $10 million to the University of Florida for the renaming of the Fredric G. Levin College of Law.

Gary Austin / OneCare
CEO and Co-Founder

Gary Austin is an experienced and visionary entrepreneur with 20 years of experience starting businesses, developing technology, building sales channels and raising capital.  He has deep experience in the electronic payment systems industry, and has been involved in the development of unique banking and healthcare solutions, products and transaction systems.

Gary is the inventor of the patent on merchant paid cash rewards tied to credit and debit cards and is the founder and CEO of HERO, Inc., a holding company managing intellectual property in the payment-card-based, cash rewards business. At HERO, developed client relationships with some of the country’s leading financial institutions such as Citibank, Chase Merchant Services, and Discover.  HERO’s Board of Directors included the chairman of MasterCard.  Under Gary’s direction, HERO introduced merchant-paid cash rewards, opt-out auto enroll marketing initiatives and Omnibus-Trust-Lockbox bank accounts. Because of these initiatives, the bank, the cardholder and the merchant were finally aligned. Today almost every card-issuing bank offers merchant-paid, cash reward cards. The patent was sold to a leading credit card rewards transaction processor for $10,000,000.00 in stock plus 15% of patent proceeds.

From HERO, Gary went on to become a co-founder of Clearwave Corporation where he invented a kiosk system that enabled patients to check themselves in and out when visiting their doctors. With the swipe of a card and entry of a 4-digit pin number, the patients were checked in and insurance eligibility was verified. The Clearwave kiosk improved patient flow and cash flow for medical practices, reduced claim rejections and decreased the amount of paperwork patients needed to complete. Today millions of patient self-check-in/check-out transactions are taking place each year through Clearwave Kiosks.

In both HERO and Clearwave, Gary raised more than $15 Million in early-stage, private and venture capital investments.

After Clearwave, Gary formed Austin Capital & Consulting, Inc.   Clients of Austin Capital & Consulting included innovative companies within the healthcare, technology, biometric ID and pharmaceutical industries.

In 2008, Gary became a founder of Symbionce, LLC.  Symbionce is a technology and revenue cycle management company performing medical billing and collections for hospitals and clinics. At Symbionce, Gary designed a healthcare payment technology and transaction processing solution, which replaced the legacy healthcare claims payment system. This novel process creates a healthcare payment solution that works similarly to credit cards. A patent is currently pending on this process.

In 2005, Gary was chosen to receive the CEO Diversity Award by the Georgia Minority Business Leaders Association.  And in 2007, Gary was selected to be a Keynote speaker and was recognized as one of the innovators of the year by the Georgia Chapter of The Healthcare Information Managers Systems Society (HIMSS), the largest healthcare technology organization in the US.

Gary is very active in his church and he enjoys music, hunting, fishing and cooking for his friends and family. Gary and his wife Reva, live in Atlanta, Georgia.
