First up we had on anchor-turned-publisher Gloria Lane, who produces Atlanta Social Season Magazine with amazing aplomb, holding down the dual roles of editor and publisher.

Active in the community, Lane is a member of the Marietta Rotary Club, served as a founding member of the Outstanding Young People of Atlanta, a member of Leadership Georgia and the first female president of the Atlanta Press Club. She also got involved with a little thing called the Beastly Feast in its first year. Planning this fundraiser for Zoo Atlanta was an eye-opening experience, Lane said. “We had to beg a barbecue establishment to donate food and arrange to borrow a dance floor and get a band!” With no expense budget, Lane and the other volunteer committee members staged the event with success – and even made some money. Today, the Beastly Feast raises more than $1 million in one night.

Gloria went on to chair other successful events, such as the Humane Society’s Pedigreed Affair at the illustrious Piedmont Driving Club and a day-long seminar for AT&T, introducing new products to Atlanta women.

Lane left television to be a stay-at-home mom and, eventually, a magazine publisher. Over the years, she’d grown weary of the negativity embraced by TV news with its mantra, “If it bleeds, it leads.” She wanted to report on the positive. In 1981, against the advice of friends and colleagues, she launched Season Magazine to spotlight charitable events, dedicated volunteers and upbeat happenings in Atlanta. The response was so tremendous the magazine went from an annual to a quarterly. Now she has begun Atlanta Social Season, a newly redesigned publication getting back to the heart of Atlantans. “In nearly 25 years, we have never published a negative word,” Lane says, “and we never will!”

While the magazine continues to cover Atlanta’s social scene, the editorial content includes include profiles, local interviews with Atlanta’s top philanthropists, fashion, travel, health & beauty, art, dining and home & design. “We are still keeping with the original mission to showcase Atlantans doing great things for our wonderful city,” Lane says. For more information please go to Gloria’s website www.seasonmagazine.com

Next up we had on Joe Lindenmayer President of TSS Photography talking about how he develops new products to cater to consumer needs, working with home-based franchisees, successfully building a home-based business concept into the nation’s industry leader, and TSS Photography”s unique apprentice concept to train new franchisees.

After 25 years as the nation’s leading youth photography franchise, TSS Photography has a great deal to commemorate: 230 locations throughout 42 states, 165 franchisees across the nation taking photos of more than 1.5 million children annually, a product line consisting of more than 200 novelty photo items and a brand synonymous with today’s most progressive youth photography products and services.

Joe explained “We credit our tremendous growth and marketplace endurance to the recruitment of dedicated franchisees who consistently exemplify the TSS Photography brand in markets throughout the country by providing professional and hassle-free customer service, product innovation and community care and involvement.”
Since its founding in 1983, TSS Photography has evolved its product and service offerings to remain the leader in the youth photography industry. In addition to offering a wide variety of photography services for schools, youth sports, corporations, special events and other community organizations, TSS franchisees help parents turn their children’s ordinary portraits into lasting keepsakes.

Children’s digital photos can be electronically formatted on more than 200 different novelty products at the TSS corporate laboratory in Atlanta. The evolution to digital equipment has helped franchisees step up their quality services with reduced turnaround time, immediate photo quality feedback, and increased online re-ordering options for customers. Some of the most popular products include a mock Sports Illustrated magazine cover, trading cards and cozy throws and pillows. Innovative customer offerings also include life-size wall images called ‘WallPix TM,’ photo memo boards and photo mug mates, to name just a few.

TSS launched the unique “Young Masters” program, where images of children’s artwork can be transferred onto mugs, mouse pads, sweatshirts, and other products that can be used everyday.

Joe said “Parents end up discarding much of their kids’ artwork because they simply run out of room on the fridge. We help parents turn these precious pieces of their children’s youth into beautiful, functional memorabilia.”

TSS Photography also increases its market share through alliances with national organizations and sports leagues such as the Babe Ruth League, Inc., National Recreation and Parks Association, YMCA and Police Athletic League. In addition, TSS Photography has a history of deep-rooted philanthropy within the corporate culture, giving back to the community as a vital partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Today we talked to Joyce Bone, an accomplished business woman and published author who’s recognized nationally as an expert in entrepreneurialism and real estate. She’s been featured on TV, books and magazines such as Money, Kiplinger’s and Millionaire Blueprints. She’s appeared on CNBC’s The Squawk Box and with Peggy Klaus on The Excellent Women’s Club.

As an entrepreneur and mom, she moves seamlessly from Board room to ball fields having created several successful businesses while raising her three boys with her husband, Alan. At 28, she co-founded EarthCare, an environmental company which went from a start up to NASDAQ traded enterprise (ECCO) within eighteen months ultimately achieving $125 million in annual revenues.

In 2000, desiring a family friendly business she could involve her kids in, Joyce created Emerald Real Estate, LLC managing a large portfolio in residential and commercial property. A few of her investor specialties include short sales, pre-foreclosures and rehab projects.

Joyce’s latest venture is a complimentary blend of her love for all things entrepreneurial and her sisterhood with other women. One in every ten adult women is a business owner. The Millionaire Mom membership site is designed to support mothers in the unique challenges of raising a family and a business at the same time. The site not only offers a forum for communicating advice, insights and a place to commune with other like-minded moms, it also provides concrete business advice from millionaire moms who have “been there, done that” and achieved phenomenal success in the process. Our goal is to help each woman become accomplished and profitable in her own venture-one family at a time.

Swan, LLC is Joyce’s business consulting firm. She consults with small to mid-size companies and executives. Joyce can help a company improve its marketing and sales, increase profitability, identify and solve specific problems. Having managed 350 employees herself she understands the dynamics and challenges involved in creating a synergistic environment that supports the various divisions of business. She is adept at coordinating teamwork between traditionally at odd divisions such as sales and operations and helping employees overcome their fear of change.

Joyce is a sought after speaker and will soon announce the release of her book called, “Millionaire Mom: The Art of Raising a Business and a Family at The Same Time.”

What makes Joyce Bone unique is not only her uncommon business story but her enthusiasm and the belief that each person can create the ideal life for them self. She has the ability to help others take seemingly unattainable goals and make them reachable. It is her greatest pleasure helping individuals and businesses become more efficient and successful. For more information please go to Joyce’s website www.joycebone.com

Welcome to Kid Power Radio. I’m your host Max and each week I review what’s happening on TV, at the movies, books and music I like ….You get the idea

In the Nickelodeon news…

This sort of has to do with Nickelodeon. I went to the movies today (I’ll talk about that later) and one of the “commercials”?, not the coming attractions, showed a thing for this new car. But they showed it with Jimmy Neutron as the star. I’ll give you 1 reason why it’s good and 1 reason why it’s bad. It’s good because all kids will be begging their parents for the car. But when they do get the car the kid will complain that there is noting related to Jimmy Neutron in the car so the parents will return it and they will get like 50,000 dollars back. They should’ve used other marketing.

Saw The Bee Movie…Loved it I give it an A++++.

This week on Cartoon Network…

I saw a new show called Chowder. I didn’t like it very much. It was annoying. It was boring. And they people tried to be funny but they really weren’t. Out of 5 stars for my TV grade I probably give it… 1 star. Sorry to disappoint you fans of Chowder. Remember this is just my opinion.

In the other shows news…

Remember 2 weeks ago when I yelled GABBO!! GABBO!! GABBO!!? Well now I’ll tell you what it means. On The Simpsons there was a new TV show called Gabbo. But Gabbo is planning to get Krusty the clown off the air… for good. Will little Bart and Lisa Simpson be able to save Krusty’s big butt? Or will Krusty get canceled?

Name That Tune!!

No one emailed me so the answer is Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake!

Here’s this week…

In the fun places news…

Yesterday I went to this fair with my cousin and aunt. It was awesome! We went in this inflatable jumpy thing and it was really cool. There was this big slide. That was cool. There was this obstacle course. That was cooler. Then there was this dinosaur play area. That was the coolest!! It only went on for one day so it’s over but when I was there it was so Cooool!

Whoa. Now that’s a lot of o’s!!

In the Halloween news…

How was your Halloween? Well mine was awesome. I went as a Jedi and I got tons of candy. My family gave out whole candy bars so we were remembered. Then I went to a haunted house. You’ll never believe what happened. So I’m walking through it with my Dad right? Then I barely see some feet sticking out. It’s someone who wants to scare me. I sneak next the the curtain then I jump in front of it and yell AAAh!!

I pretty much make the kid wet his pants. So what did you do for your Halloween?

In the celebrity news…

Who’s met a celebrity before? Who would like to meet a celebrity? Well I met a celebrity today on 11/4/07. I met someone from American Idol. In my early shows I talked about her. Her name is… Jordin Sparks. You may not believe it but I did meet Jordin Sparks. She was the winner of American Idol 2007. It was so cool. I got an autographed picture. Jordin…where ever you are I just want to say Thank You. You rock and roll!!

Funny Wacky Packy of the week…

And the winner is… Mr. Potato Dead !! Instead of Mr. Potato Head!!

Listener Question…

Welcome to Kid Power Radio. I’m your host Max and each week I review what’s happening on TV, at the movies, books and music I like ….You get the idea

Good Evening. This is Larry Johnson welcoming you to Radio Star Max’s Halloween show. OOO!! Now here’s Max with…ah!! It’s a werewolf! Stop you beast…HELP… SAVE Mee…

Uh, Larry? Oh you’re here. Are you ready for some scary stories from the book More Scary Stories to tell in the dark?? Is that a yes? Good. Beware. YOU’RE IN FOR A SCARE!! Ha ha ha ha!!

The Drum:

Sandra and Leslie were good little girls. They lived with their Mom and brother, Matt. Their father was a sailor out at sea. One day the girls were playing in the meadow. They saw a girl playing with a drum. May we have the drum they asked. No said the girl. I will only give it to you if you do bad things. The two girls ran home and were very bad. The next day they went back to the field. They told the girl all that they did. That is not bad enough said the girl. So Sandra and Leslie ran home and did horrible things. If you do not stop this bad behavior Matt and I will leave and your new Mother will have a wooden tail and glass eyes their Mother warned. The girls ignored this and continued doing bad things. The next day they went to the girl and once again told all of what they did. What!? The girl said. We were just playing a game. I thought you knew that. The two girls gulped and ran all the way home. When they got there no one was home. Uh, Mom and Matt probably just went to the store Sandra said. I hope so Leslie answered. The girls played in the meadow some more. When they got home candles were lit in the house. See Sandra bragged. The girls looked in the window. They gasped. There in the chair their new Mother sat. Her wooden tail tap, tap, tapping on the floor. Her glass eyes glistening in the candle light…

Pat the butcher:

Pat was the nice neighborhood butcher. One day he and his wife had an argument. Pat killed her and buried her bones. He mad her into sausage. The people loved it. Pat decided that people sausage was a big hit. One day a plump school teacher came in the deli. Pat grabbed him and grounded him up. The next day Pat’s dentist came in. Pat grabbed her and grounded her up. One by one adults, kids, puppies, and kitties started disappearing. But no one suspected Pat. One day a big fat kid came in. Pat grabbed him but the kid escaped! Pat chased the kid down the street waving a butcher knife. Now everyone knew what had happened to all the people. No one quite knows what happened that day. Some say Pat was fed to his grinder. Others say he was chase out of town by an angry mob. No one knows so you decide…

The brown suit:

A women’s husband had just died. He was laying in the coffin beside another coffin with another man in it. I don’t mean to bother you but my husband always liked a brown suit. Can you switch them the women asked. Sure said the grave keeper. 1 hour later the women came back. How did you do that so fast she asked. I simply switched their heads answered the grave keeper.

Well I hope you enjoyed the stories. Happy Halloween!! Yeah. From Larry Johnson…Happy Halloween!! Remember you can email me your spooky stories at RadioStarMax at Yahoo.com. And Maybe I’ll read them. Ha ha ha!! Happy Halloween to all you werewolves, witches, vampires, and more!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Ha ha ha!!
