Sarah K. Smith and Teresa Roth of Solution Road

Life University and Solution Road

We continue our series with Dr. Gilles LaMarche of Life University, focusing on business leaders with integrity.  I had the pleasure of featuring my publicist, Sarah Smith, Founder of Solution Road, and her creative director, Teresa Roth.  Having gotten to know Sarah over the past year I can readily say she fits the theme of integrity in personal and professional life.

Her consultancy, Solution Road, brings clients expertise in branding and message, fund raising/development, a speakers bureau, advocacy, and more.  The company has worked with clients in biotechnology, health sciences, and the business sector, among others.

We talked about how important integrity is in branding and message, along with the importance of presenting useful information via social media platforms.  Peruse any marketing-related sites these days and it’s quickly clear that providing high-quality, engaging content that informs your customer with insights they can use is necessary to succeed in today’s digital world.

Holley Calmes & Amy Ward/Gwinnett Ballet Theatre

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre has been nurturing young dancers since 1977. The first performing arts non-profit school and company in Gwinnett County, GBT has grown to become one of the most respected dance educators and performance companies in the metro Atlanta area. GBT’s “The Nutcracker” is Georgia’s second largest with 16 shows performed annually at the Infinite Energy Theatre (formerly the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center) the first three weekends in December and accompanied by the beautiful Gwinnett Ballet Theatre Orchestra.

Dr. Taushlea Green/Caring Hands Mobile Chiropractic

Caring Hands Chiropractic understands how hectic life can be. That is why they come to your home or office. Caring Hands Chiropractic provides spinal correction for adults and children as well as prenatal chiropractic care. They are dedicated to finding a better way for their patients to heal and reach their full potential. It’s their belief that everyone, no matter what age, can benefit from chiropractic care. They want to help you through chiropractic care. At Caring Hands Chiropractic, they believe that the human body has the power to heal itself. Pain isn’t something you should have to live with. They can help you get on the road to good health.

Josh Seides/Technocademy

Josh Seides is a high school senior from Alpharetta High School in Atlanta. He is the Founder/CEO of a nonprofit organization called Technocademy. They help senior citizens and veterans connect with their family and friends by offering free technology lessons throughout the community. They have been featured in U.S. News and World Report, Yahoo!, Entrepreneur, and others.

Kyle Valencia/MotivDeals Fundraising

Supporting cancer research, upgrading sports equipment, remodeling your school cafeteria, or building a great youth center. Motivdeals was created to help people who are motivated to get things done. Solution Road and Mosaic

This week marked the beginning of a bi-weekly series we’ll be hosting with Dr. Gilles LaMarche, VP of Professional Relations at Life University where we’ll be focusing on integrity in the business community and personal life.  This series will be leading into the Life Talks World Congress event coming up May 12-13, 2016.

Life Talks is about empowering leaders to create social change, make a transformational impact on the world and remove the interference to maximize their perfection within.  The event includes thought leadersin business and productivity, physical health, nutrition, compassion, forgiveness, vitalism, quantum healing, and more.

We will be featuring business leaders who are known to value integrity in their professional and personal lives, and we will introduce several high school students from the community who have also been recognized for exemplifying the trait in their personal and academic endeavors.

We were joined in studio by Sarah Smith and Stu Sheldon, of Solution Road and Mosaic, respectively.  Sarah has spent numerous years helping non-profit and for-profit organizations raise funding and public awareness for their respective work.  She draws on experience from healthcare as well as media and is very selective in the clients she and her team take on at Solution Road.

Stu is an expert in experiential marketing, in which brands look to engage a targeted subset of their customer base.  Their goal is to create an immersive experience that has a measure of exclusivity and hands-on interaction with elements of the brand.  In this way, the client company is able to leverage Earned Media to get people talking about their experience.  I first met Stu on the Midtown Business show talking about Escalate, the experiential marketing company that was recently acquired by Mosaic.

Romanoff Renovations and Solution Road

This week I was joined in studio by guest co-host, Bo Wilkins, of Sound River Advisors.  Sound River Advisors is a collection of experts who help privately-held businesses create compensation packages designed to retain key high-value executives.  Their compensation plans help preserve the owners’ equity in their business while rewarding the leaders who have helped build the business.

We sat down with Doug Romanoff, founder of Romanoff Renovations, a flooring installation company he started in 1974.  Doug described how, as a young man recently out of college, he decided he wanted to start his own company after working for another company for a while.  He shared how at the time, he had only $300 in his bank account.  So, he would buy some discontinued carpeting nearby, go into the city and market it to apartment complexes that were renovating, selling them the product he’d bought and installing it for them.

Over the ensuing 40 years he became one of Home Depot’s largest contractors, installing their flooring at over 400 of their locations around the country.  His business has grown from that one man start-up to a business with over 2000 installers, billing over $100 million per year.

We also talked about how he established a charitable foundation through the company called The Romanoff Foundation, focused on helping individuals and families in the community who are struggling.

Solution Road is a not-for-profit whose mission is to help organizations in need of fundraising.  Sarah Smith and her colleague, Charlie Craig, came by to talk about how they put their skills at relationship-building to work for the organizations they serve to help them achieve their goals.

This new company’s first client is GeoVax, an Atlanta-based organization that is in the later stages of testing the vaccine they have developed to prevent HIV.  GeoVax is also now actively working to develop a vaccine that will successfully prevent Ebola as well.

Sarah and Charlie explained how rewarding it is for them to be helping an organization with such far-reaching impact if they are successful in their efforts.  We were pleased to help them tell their story!
