Nelson Pizarro is the Director of B.I.S. in Social Entrepreneurship and Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at GSU. He is also the CEO at EcoStatic Industries LLC. He received his DBA in Business Administration at Grenoble Ecole of Management, France. He also received an MBA from the University of Florida and a BBA from Washington State University. His primary research interest is opportunity finding, entrepreneurship education and sustainability in organizations. Dr. Pizarro has published in journals, such as Journal of Entrepreneurship Education, New England Journal of Entrepreneurship and Economies et sociétés. He helped start up 6 companies including business consulting, consumer electronics, consume electronics refurbishing, and automatic vehicle location systems. In April of 2012, he launched EcoStatic Inc. He has done business in 46 countries. He also has experience in a corporate environment working for multinational companies such Brother International and Uniden. In the government sector, he worked for Americorps as a full time volunteer, Miami Dade Community College, and at the City of Gainesville, FL, as the Small and Minority Business Development Coordinator. Elijah Sullivan is a Junior at Georgia State University studying Computer Information Systems and Mathematics. He founded and currently resides as president for the Social Entrepreneurship Club and works with Henry Health, a digital health startup aiming to provide culturally competent therapy for black men. Interests include blockchain, investing, data science and education.

Jasmin Chestnut is a film student at Georgia State University who aims to use film as a tool to bring people together. She sees social entrepreneurship as a way for people to put their minds together to solve the problems we see in our everyday lives.

Richard D. Phillips was appointed the seventh Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University in July 2014. He is also the C.V. Starr Professor of Risk Management and Insurance. Under Phillips’ leadership, Robinson is pioneering a new kind of business education, one uniquely capable of developing people from all backgrounds into talented business leaders who create value in an era of digital transformation. Emphasizing the establishment of strategic research relationships and the development of emerging leaders who never stop striving for impact, Robinson helps businesses meet the real and emergent needs of rapidly changing global markets. An expert on risk management, Dean Phillips has produced more than 50 scholarly publications. He has received several research awards, including twice receiving the Robert 1. Mehr Award given to an articlejudged to have had the greatest impact on insurance economics 10 years after publication. Beyond the university, Phillips is a corporate director at Munich American Reassurance Corporation anda senior consultant with Charles River Associates. From 2017-2018 he was president of the American Risk and Insurance Association, he is a past-president of the Risk Theory Society, and he serves as a trustee for the S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education. Phillips serves on non-profit boards for the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and for The Swift School – one of Georgia’s largest private schools serving dyslexic children. Phillips’ doctoral and master’s degrees in managerial economics are from the Wharton School. He graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mathematics.

Luis E. Ferrer-Labarca is originally from Venezuela, son of entrepreneurs, started his entrepreneurial life selling chocolate chip cookies when he was 6. Luis moved to the US in 2014. Co-founder of Panther Hackers, one of the biggest tech student organizations in GSU. Been to 17+ hackathons and achieved Top 5 in the first Atlanta Startup Battle hosted by Tech Square Labs with Upet, a pet rental service during my junior year. In late 2017 started BitCraft, a software development agency specializing in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, which later switched focus to DevOps and cloud infrastructure. Studied Computer Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship at GSU and graduated in May 2018. Currently working as a Software Engineer at Rigor, one of the most mature startups in Village, while hustling with BitCraft on the side. Ideating a lot more projects on the daily, Motivated to make others’ lives better and sharing the impact that entrepreneurship has had in his life. Inspiring others to find out a way to live fulfilling lives on his Instagram. Serving as an advisor for, and might jump in as a team member, Observe, a digital shadowing experience for people to better decide what careers will fulfill them the most.

Jeanine McDonald is the founder of Suzi Soma Chokers with a mission to remind women that they are limitless! Jeanine designs chokers and chains paired with original affirmations to inspire women to focus their dreams into reality. Brennen Dicker, a film and video professional with 25 years of experience, is Executive Director of the Creative Media Industries Institute at Georgia State University. Before joining Georgia State, Brennen was the general manager of Atlanta operations for SIM International, a company that provides production and post-production services to the film industry. In that role, he worked with companies such as HBO, Warner Bros. Television, AMC and Netflix. He also was the chair of the Atlanta Advisory Council for the Savannah College of Art and Design. As chair, he helped to create a television festival to showcase trends in design and innovation for television production and intensive 48-hour media production workshops for students. He has served as an executive board member of the Georgia Production Partnership and is the former chair of its government relations group. Through the organization, he has been an industry liaison for the state legislature and govemor’s office. In addition, he has been chair for both 2018 and 2019 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, which is the largest film festival in Georgia. He is a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. Brennen appointment as executive director of the CMII is playing a key role in Georgia State’s efforts to fulfill its strategic plan, aimed at elevating the university’s reputation for excellence and innovation in research, scholarship and creative endeavors. The CMII aligns with a strategic goal to highlight the arts and media, and to use the university’s strengths to create opportunities for exploration of the intersections among creativity, technology and entrepreneurship as metro Atlanta’s media industries in film, television, gaming and more form a vital part of the regional economy.

Dave Beck is founder and Managing Partner at Foundry 45, an Atlanta-based company that helps brands train their teams and tell their stories through Virtual and Augmented Reality. His company has built over 200 experiences for notable clients such as AT&T, Coca-Cola, IBM, and Delta. Before starting Foundry 45, Dave served as the Chief Operating Officer at Equip Codes, a mobile SaaS and Augmented Reality company. Dave also serves on the board of the MAK Historic District and is very active in the Georgia Tech community as a board member, mentor, and frequent guest speaker. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Wake Forest University and his MBA from Georgia Tech.

Dr. Paul Lopez is the President of TiE Atlanta. Jackie Davis is the Associate Director for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute (ENI) at Georgia State University’s (GSU) J. Mack Robinson College of Business where she contributes to the Institute’s vision, strategy, marketing, and co-curricular efforts. She is also the faculty advisor for GSU’s Chapter Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) and the E-House Living Learning Community (LLC).

In her tenure with ENI, Jackie has helped grow Georgia State’s entrepreneurship programs beyond the classroom. She has established and overseen the planning and facilitation of over 30 co-curricular events a year that extend beyond the university’s academic programs in entrepreneurship. She also created the E-House LLC, and assisted in the development of the LaunchGSU Student Incubator. As an “intrapreneur”, Jackie enjoys building signature programs for the Georgia State community including, the WomenLead Center and the Women’s Mentoring Program.

Ms. Davis holds a M.Ed. and a B.A in Spanish and International Business from Georgia State University, and she is currently pursuing an M.B.A. at Georgia State.

Taylor Built Brands is a branding, marketing, and sales strategy consultancy based in Roswell. The founder Brad Taylor is a 30-year sales and marketing veteran who spent the last 24 years in marketing and sales leadership roles at The Coca-Cola Company. Mallory McKenzie is the assistant director of alumni programming at Georgia State University where she oversees high-level signature events for the Alumni Association. Mallory’s path at Georgia State began in the Honors College where she served as the assistant director of external relations, focusing on student, alumni and parent engagement. Previously, Mallory worked at The University of Alabama and Vanderbilt University in Admissions and Student – Alumni Engagement roles. Mallory earned a B.S. in Sociology from Vanderbilt, an M.A. in College Student Development from Appalachian State University and is currently pursuing her MBA from Georgia State.

Dr. Bill Bogner is the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs and an Associate Professor in the Department of Managerial Sciences at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. His research primarily focuses on the dynamics of industry competition and in particular seeks to explain the past and current competitive postures of firms, groups of firms, and whole industries. Increasingly Dr. Bogner’s research has focused on global industries and the technological trajectories that drive industry evolution. He has published in leading journals including Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management Studies, International Management, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice Long Range Planning and Advances in Strategic Management. In addition, he has made numerous presentations at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, and the Strategic Management Society, as well as at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management in Brussels. Several of his articles have appeared as book chapters and in proceedings publications. He has published two books on the pharmaceutical industry. At Georgia State University Dr. Bogner teaches courses on Strategic management in the MBA, PMBA, EMBA and PhD programs. He has also taught on the Masters level in International Business. In addition to service as the Assistant Dean for of the J. Mack Robinson College’s over 6000 Undergraduate degree students, he currently is very active on the University level in assessment, accreditation and continual improvement of programs on the graduate and undergraduate level. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Management Studies, and the Journal of Management, as Treasurer of the Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy of Management, and as the Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer of the Strategy Research Foundation. Dr. Bogner is also an attorney and is licensed to practice law by the state of Illinois.

Taz Lake’s passion is making websites better. When his career began over two decades ago, he relied on a passion for web technologies to tear him away from medicine and science. Nathaniel Smith serves as Founder and Chief Equity Officer (CEqO)/CEO of the Partnership for Southern Equity. Empowered by the unified vision and voices realized through its regional engagement efforts, PSE pushes for policies and actions that promote balanced growth and inclusive prosperity in metropolitan Atlanta and beyond. Among PSEs notable accomplishments where the creation the American Souths first equity mapping and framing tool the Metro Atlanta Equity Atlas (MAEA); The Atlanta Regional Commissions Equitable Target Areas (ETA) mapping index to promote and measure equitable land-use planning efforts; supporting the creation of the nations first Equitable Development Plan for a large scale neighborhood transformation project The Atlanta Beltline; convening the inaugural Equity Atlanta Forum on the equitable utilization of Federal Stimulus Funding in metro Atlanta as well as its supporting document, co-written by PolicyLink, Recovering Stronger: Building an Inclusive Metro Atlanta Economy. Among his many acknowledgments, Nathaniel was selected for the National Congress for Community Economic Development (NCCED) 2000 Emerging Leaders Program; the Outstanding Young Person of Atlanta Award in 2003; Georgia Trend Magazines 40 under 40 list in 2006 (cover); The Atlanta Business Chronicles Up and Comers List in 2006; the 2007 Atlanta Housing Association of Neighborhood Based Developers (AHAND) 2007 Affordable Housing Champion Award; the 2014 designation in the Whos Who in Black Atlanta publication as a Champion of Diversity and Inclusion and honored in 2014 by the Atlanta Business League as a Man of Influence. Nathaniel was designated a Notable Georgian by Georgia Trend Magazine in 2016 and 2017. Tris Sicignano is a New Orleans native,who began her career in television at the age of 16 working for the local PBS station. Tris has worked for several major cable networks during her career. She has worked both behind the scenes and in front of the camera in the film and entertainment industry. After taking a break from the industry to pursue other career goals, Tris has returned to her original career choice to co-found Surge Television.

Chris Hardman/Georgia Restaurant Association

In addition to Hardmans role in membership, he also serves as one of the GRAs registered lobbyist. The GRA serves as the unified voice for over 16,000 foodservice and drinking places in the state of Georgia with total sales in excess of $17.1 billion which provides more than 421,800 jobs.  Hardman graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors and a BBA in Hospitality Administration from Georgia State University (GSU). Hardman then went on to receive his Masters in Global Hospitality Management from GSU. Prior to working with the GRA, Hardman served as the Research Associate for Georgia Capitol Associates, advocating on behalf of the hospitality and tourism industry. In addition to Hardmans work with the GRA, he also sits on the Advisory Board for ATL Industree, a group that hosts networking events just for people who work food and beverage.
