Orginally from Scotland, I worked overseas for 25 years as a satellite systems engineer. My career started on very large Satellite Antennas measuring over 100 feet across and weighing over 400 tons. Work varied from communications support for the NASA Space Shuttle to providing a video link for a presidential visit to Africa. Travelled to over 100 different countries and territories. A decade ago, my life changed forever when a chiropractor used too much force while treating an old parachuting injury. The best spinal doctors not only could not diagnose my very rare injury, but also told me I would never walk again. I refused to accept that and used my engineering background to figure out what had been done to me. After more than 8 years of physical therapy, I am now working the Alternative Energy Field. Never let anyone tell you what is or is not possible.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Humanistic Studies from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame and her Master of Arts in Social Justice and Human Rights with a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Management from Arizona State University.

Kimberly is responsible for the design and implementation of entrepreneur programming at BBB, including the development of new services for both accredited businesses and small business startups. Prior to joining the BBB, she served as the Manager of Partner Relations in Entrepreneurship + Innovation at ASU where she managed programs and external partnerships in the greater business and startup community.

Mayor Greg Stanton grew up at 39th Ave and Dunlap, attending Cortez High School. Greg then attended Marquette University and went on to earn a law degree from the University of Michigan. Before he was elected to his first term as mayor in 2011, he served nine years on the Phoenix City Council and as Arizona’s Deputy Attorney General.

In 2015, Stanton won reelection for Mayor and successfully led one of the most ambitious transportation initiatives in the country – a plan that is now working to triple Phoenix’s light rail system, expand bus service and build 1,000 miles of new bike lanes over the next 35 years.

Now, Greg is taking on a new challenge, running to represent Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since October 2017, Greg has been running a robust, grassroots campaign for Congress focused on bringing new ideas and new leadership to Washington to better serve the needs of hard working Arizonans and their families.

He and his wife Nicole have two children.

Nicole Stanton is the Managing Partner of the Phoenix Office of Quarles & Brady LLP and Assistant General Counsel for the firm as a whole. She previously served as adjunct faculty at the ASU Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Her practice is focused on business litigation. She was selected as one of the Top 100 lawyers in Arizona for the past three years, listed in Best Lawyers in American for legal malpractice law since 2012, and a Southwest Super Lawyer 2013- present.

Nicole founded the state-wide anti-bullying initiative, Stop Bullying AZ/The Dion Initiative in 2012. She is a member of Charter 100 Women, graduate of Valley Leadership Class XXIX, Founding Board Member/Past President of the Women’s Metropolitan Arts Council, and Arizona Equal Justice Foundation board member. She has co-chaired the RED Brunch, a World AIDS Day celebration benefiting Aunt Rita’s Foundation and was the Co-Chair of the Night for Life gala benefiting the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS.

Nicole is the wife of former Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton and mother to Trevor and Violet. She is a foodie and loves the Phoenix Mercury.

Kolleen Edwards Chesley has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and spent the majority of her career as a financial advisor. In that role, Kolleen was responsible for finding her own clients and quickly learned the value of networking, networking, and even more networking. It was in 2004 and during her sales career that she, along with two other professional business women met for lunch with the purpose of helping to motivate each other after Hurricane Ivan had blown through our area and changed not only the physical landscape of the area, but also impacted the business landscape as well. Out of that lunch was born what is now a thriving not-for-profit organization for business women.

Kolleen currently serves full-time as the Founding Director of what was originally called Women’s Business Lunch and is now known as Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast. The organization advocates a culture of confidence building, lifelong learning, collaboration, empowering others and a spirit of charitable giving.

The mission of Powerful Women of the Gulf Coast is to promote, advance and improve women in business and the organization accomplishes these in a number of different ways.

Each edition features interviewees of local successful leaders in business who share their honest thoughts on leadership, success, obstacles, and inspiration as it relates to women in business. We also include other articles on leadership, networking, and other skill development. It is geared for anyone in business or looking for business motivation and tips. Our goal is for this to be a quarterly publication, however the magazine is currently on hold as we explore graphic designers. Our latest edition can still be found on our website.
Annual Pursue Your Passion Women’s conference. To help celebrate National Business Women’s Week, we hold a full day conference during the third week of October along with several other events leading up to the conference. We feature a national keynote speaker, several local successful leaders in business, along with Speed Networking, an Experience Hall, structured and unstructured networking exercises and plenty of laughter, relationship building and excitement. Our attendees are not only motivated by the conference but they leave with tangible tips they can take back and implement in their businesses to lead them to success. For 2018, our conference will be held on Wednesday, October 17^th and Thursday, October 18^th, 2018 at Sanders Beach.
Power Up Challenge is a 12 week educational series where we hold classes once a week for two hours. Classes focused around four main areas of business: Networking, Marketing, Business Efficiency, and Sales Skills. Open to men and women and all classmates receive the full audio recording of each class along with class notes, expanded notes, and extra resources. Remote classes also available. Classes are affordable and attendees are elated with the amount and quality of the information that is shared.
