Gayle Ely is a Leadership Coach, Trainer and Team Facilitator known for partnering with non-profit and public sector leaders who secretly ask themselves the question “How Do I Become a Better Leader?”

Using the Six Pillars of Passionate Leadership, together, Gayle and her clients create a firm foundation from which to successfully lead teams and organizations. Gayle’s clients no longer find themselves saying “I love my work – except for the people part.” Instead they find themselves as passionate about leading people as they are about the service they provide. The result is higher impact and more successful outcomes for clients and customers.

Gayle has also co-authored the book Spiral Up: The Surprising Secret to Great Team Results. The leadership fable provides an innovative framework for effective teamwork and reveals the secret that can take a team to new heights.

Richard MacKelfresh, Shoebox Tax Prep (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 625)

On this episode of North Fulton Business Radio, Richard MacKelfresh, Founder and CEO of Shoebox Tax Prep, joined host John Ray to discuss the work of Shoebox Tax Prep, the origins of the company name, why he decided to start the company, advice for people who may not have filed their taxes yet, and much more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Richard MacKelfresh, Founder/CEO, Shoebox Tax Prep

Fresh out of the University of North Carolina, Richard began his career with Ameriprise Financial Services in May of 1999. In 2004, he received his Certified Financial Planner designation and grew a successful financial planning practice in Sandy Springs serving high-net-worth individuals and families, which he is still involved with today.

As a financial planner, he founded Shoebox Tax Prep with the idea of bringing professional tax advice to the mass market at an affordable price with the simplest process possible.

Interestingly, the concept for Shoebox Tax Prep was a direct result of a conversation with a financial planning client who complained about overpaying her tax preparer. She said that by the time she gathered all the paperwork and completed the myriad of forms and questionnaires, she felt like she could have done the whole thing herself for a lot less money.

After 5 years, Shoebox Tax Prep has grown from a staff of 1 to a full-time staff of 4. Over the next 5-10 years, Shoebox plans to have offices in most major cities throughout the Southeast.

Outside of work, Richard lives in Buckhead with his wife and 3 children. He is on the Board of Directors at Caring Works, and volunteers with the Sandy Springs Conservancy. He loves to play guitar and sings in a rock and roll band.

Larry Ryback, Jim 'N Nick's

Larry Ryback, Chief Executive Officer, Jim ‘N Nick’s (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 623)

On this edition of North Fulton Business Radio, Larry Ryback, CEO of Jim ‘N Nick’s, joined host John Ray to discuss Jim ‘N Nick’s and the growth of the brand, his journey with the company, why community involvement is so important to the growth of the company, the new Alpharetta/Milton location, and much more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Jim ‘N Nick’s

It all began in 1985 in a reclaimed old pizza restaurant on Clairmont Avenue in Birmingham, AL. The formula was simple. Celebrate the heritage of revered bar-b-q masters, cut no corners on the menu, and serve the whole community like family.

That philosophy allowed Jim ‘N Nick’s to create something special. An authentic bar-b-q restaurant with chefs and pitmasters. A nod to their past recipes, with eyes toward the future. Sit-down dining on one hand, and a drive-through on the other. No freezers, no microwaves, and no shortcuts. 12-hour slow-smoked pork and beef, but served real fast. A celebration of Alabama, but a reverence for the bar-b-q tradition across the South.

It’s the kind of place that only happens when you don’t follow the crowd, but instead, follow your heart, trust your gut, and simply do things the hard way.

Today, Jim ‘N Nick’s has become an icon of the bar-b-q community. One bite and you’ll understand why there’s only one Jim ‘N Nick’s.

LeeAnn Maxwell, The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty

LeeAnn Maxwell, Vixen Vodka and The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 616)

On this edition of North Fulton Business Radio, LeeAnn Maxwell, Founder, and Realtor at The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty joined host John Ray to discuss how she got started in real estate, how and why she started Vixen Vodka, advice for those looking to sell their home, and much more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty

In this business, it’s all about building relationships. That’s especially true with The Maxwell Adventure Team.  Your local Real Estate Guides, LeeAnn & Phillip, provide the current and future residents of Georgia with up-to-date and accurate community information.

LeeAnn and Phillip Maxwell are ready to take you on your OWN real estate adventure. They’ve helped buyers and sellers from the mountains of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, Georgia to the sandy shores of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Specializing in residential properties in metro Atlanta, they bring a wealth of information about the local real estate market and are experts in negotiation on both the buying AND selling side.

LeeAnn has an extensive background in residential mortgage lending, which is always a tremendous help in navigating the tricky financial waters of each transaction. Both Phillip and LeeAnn have been recognized as Top 5% producers by the Atlanta Board of REALTORS as well as being named Centurion Top Producers within the Global Century 21 organization. They work with first-time homebuyers, veterans, investors, estate sales, those who are transferring into or out of the Atlanta area, and, of course, those who want/need to upsize or downsize. The Maxwell Adventure Team is ready to help you on your next adventure!

LeeAnn Maxwell, Vixen Vodka and The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty

LeeAnn Maxwell spent over 28 years in the financial industry (moving from loan processor to loan officer to underwriting and ultimately managing a foreclosure department at a local law firm).  She spent about as long in her first marriage.

Once both those chapters were over, LeeAnn realized a few things: first, she wanted more out of life; and second, she wanted to rediscover herself. She wanted to find the woman she used to be, and the one she always wished she had the courage to become.

It was 2009 NYE when she made two resolutions: one – to not ask why but to ask why not and two – to never turn down an invitation because you never know who you’re going to meet.

The first resolution brought her to start Vixen Vodka, as after a girls’ trip to St. Simons Island, Georgia, she and her girlfriend asked each other, “Why not start a vodka company?” And the second gave her the courage to meet Phillip, the man who would become her second husband and biggest fan.

LeeAnn became the CEO of Vixen Vodka, learning how to trademark, how to raise a million dollars, and how to navigate the tricky waters of the liquor industry along the way. While Vixen is still on the shelf, it is not paying the bills so she and Phillip formed The Maxwell Adventure Team and are the number one team for their Century 21 Office as well as consistently in the top 5% of the Atlanta Realtors Association.

She LOVES helping buyers and sellers on their next adventure and Vixen makes a great closing gift! Her social media for the brands blend seamlessly and have taken on a life of their own with her quest to find the craziest, creepiest houses or rooms, along with tips and tricks for decluttering, staging, and more! Be sure and follow her!

If you ask LeeAnn what the main message she wants people to take away from her story is, she’d tell you plainly – to embrace life, believe in yourself, and go for it (whatever your “it” is).
