Taking the Guesswork Out of Vitamins and Supplements, with Laurie Coello, Nutrishop Roswell (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 691)

Laurie Coello, owner of Nutrishop Roswell, talked with host John Ray about her experience of getting healthy and deciding to open a Nutrishop in Roswell to help others regain a healthy lifestyle. Laurie shared how Nutrishop is different than the big box competitors, tools they use like the Body Composition Machine, the quality of their vitamins and supplements, their personalized service, success stories, and much more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Laurie Coello, Nutrishop Roswell

Laurie Coello owns Nutrishop Roswell. Laurie can be reached at the shop at (470) 223-4909.

Since 2003, Nutrishop® has helped individuals like you achieve various health and fitness goals by offering top-quality dietary and nutritional supplements and services coupled with unparalleled personalized attention – all at guaranteed low prices.

At Nutrishop®, their focus is on your results!

Founder and CEO, Bryon McLendon, turned down a lucrative career opportunity to pursue his passion of helping others live a fit, happy and healthy lifestyle. Unemployed yet determined, he drained his bank account and opened his first retail nutrition store in 1997. With laser-sharp focus, he went to work every single day, morning to night. His wife, Tania, a personal trainer and former college track athlete, was his rock, encouraging him along the way. Within two years, Bryon had opened five locations.

After gaining several years of knowledge and expertise in the industry, Bryon decided to start his very own company, thus NUTRISHOP®, Inc. was born with the first store opening in Norco, California in 2003. Bryon extended the opportunity to other like-minded, hard-working entrepreneurs who were passionate about helping others. Founded on the pillars of honesty, integrity, trust, opportunity and good ol’ fashioned hard work, our NUTRISHOP® family grew.

“We have store owners who hated their jobs and now they’re able to do something they love while changing lives for the better and providing for their families,” says Bryon. “That gets me excited!”

Pre-Retirement Planning for Business Owners, with Tony Van Gelder, Van Gelder Financial (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 690)

Tony Van Gelder, a Certified Financial Planner and Owner of Van Gelder Financial, joined the show to talk about his career journey, becoming a financial planner, how to choose a financial planner, the value of having an advisor younger than you, how pre-retirement business owners should be planning, and more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Van Gelder Financial

It’s Van Gelder Financial’s belief that a Financial Plan is really a Life Plan.  While there are the technical aspects, a properly built plan should:

  • Help to articulate the “why” behind your plan
  • Clearly identify your personal and financial goals and how to achieve them
  • Establish clear action steps to accomplish the desired outcome
  • Be written and explained in an easy-to-understand way
  • Evolve into a living document; not something that gathers dust on the shelf.

They manage the investment of your assets according to your current financial situation, future goals, and risk tolerance level. In saying that, they firmly believe in the power of consistency and do not employ market timing or specific stock selection methods but encourage longer term strategies with periodic reviews and adjustments.

They will work with you to determine the optimal asset allocation based on your unique needs. As independent financial advisors they are not motivated by sales targets or commissions which means they will put your interests above anything else. Once an initial plan is crafted and underway, the investments are consistently monitored to ensure they not only meet your needs, but also adapt to the changing financial landscape.

Van Gelder supports families and individuals who want to help plan for their child’s or loved one’s college education. They can help with the decision on which investment and savings vehicle is right for your situation, maximize the tax efficiency, and then put a plan in place to help ensure the money is there when you need it. Alternatively, if you are on the other side of college and currently dealing with student loans, they help to determine your goals and then implement the right repayment strategy that considers your specific situation and circumstance.

Estate planning is not just for the super-rich, but instead something everyone should consider. It’s about ensuring that when something happens to you, the ones you care about won’t have to guess about desired outcomes. Estate Planning gives family members the freedom to grieve and the comfort of knowing they’re honoring your wishes. Having a plan for your estate means you can continue to help your loved ones reach goals you set together, even after you are gone. They help clients look after their investments including insurance policies, savings accounts, and overall goals, to create a plan designed to set yourself and family up for financial success.

In 2005, she was hired for the Georgia Aquarium’s opening sales team and worked alongside Chef Wolfgang Puck. Her career continued up the corporate ladder including the opportunity to work in sales for Atlanta’s premier event planner, Tony Conway, and Legendary Events.

Matthew Bent, Executive Chef, Three Sisters Catering

Chef Matthew is the gift that keeps on giving. He is given carte blanche to pursue his passion in the Three Sisters kitchen. He’s edgy, original, authentic, and innately understands flavoring, technique, and presentation. His “never rattled” demeanor allows him to check all the boxes. No kitchen? No problem. Dietary restrictions? Gotcha covered. Last-minute pop-up event? We’re on it.

Matthew began his love affair with food as a line cook at a Sandals Resort in his native Jamaica. His diligence and talent allowed him to quickly work his way up the “food chain” from Sous Chef at a leading catering company, to a popular Atlanta restaurant, to the Executive Chef position at Three Sisters Catering. Celebrating his 13th year with Three Sisters, he is known for his ability to create menus for clients that satisfies the diverse palettes of their guest no matter how grand or intimate the occasion.

His first love may be food and cooking, but he also loves his family, friends, and traveling. Chef was recently nominated for Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40.

Care for Caregivers of Special Needs Children, with Stacy Georges, Special Needs Respite (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 685)

Stacy Georges, Founder of Special Needs Respite, was the guest on this episode of North Fulton Business Radio discussing the care for caregivers that her nonprofit offers. She talked with host John Ray about the needs of caregivers who have children who need round-the-clock care.  Stacy shared stories of families who have benefitted from having care so they can take a break, what happens when parents don’t get a break, adult special needs children, coming events, and more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Special Needs Respite

Respite care is a form of short-term substitute care for children with special needs, be it mental, emotional, or physical, and is provided by someone other than parents or the usual 24/7 caretakers of the child. It gives parents a break from their exhausting job.

As a group, parents of special needs children are more stressed, and even more at risk for divorce, or worse. Also, according to ARCH National Respite network, three-fifths of family caregivers age 19-64 surveyed recently by the Commonwealth Fund reported fair or poor health, one or more chronic conditions, or a disability, compared with only one-third of non-caregivers.

Respite is something that parents of special needs children desperately need. Although programs in Georgia exist to help these parents, such as the NOW waiver, there is a very long waiting list and very little money available. Many families, as a result, don’t have funds available for such an essential service, putting a strain on them physically, emotionally, and financially.

Special Needs Respite helps bridge the existing funding gap that many parents have when trying to get childcare for their special needs child. They can provide funds that will pay qualified caregivers to care for these children when no other way to pay is available to the parents.

Stacy Georges, Founder, Special Needs Respite

Stacy Georges has been serving the disability community for 32 Years. The last 15 years have been focused on serving families here in Metro Atlanta. Even in a densely populated area such as Metro Atlanta, there are families isolated and decimated due to their children’s special needs. This results in loss if hope, and frequently ends in murder suicide. These are the families we can give hope.

Stacy holds a B. A. in Therapeutic Recreation from Purdue University.  Becoming a parent was her real education with all its challenges, and especially interacting with parents who had even more challenges with children with special needs. Founder of YourRespite special needs child care, Stacy started Special Needs Respite to help meet the needs of even more parents of children living with special needs.

She is available for speaking engagements to  churches and civic groups to further the community  understanding of how to minister to Special Needs families.

Stacy and her husband, Tom, reside in Roswell, GA.

Renasant Bank is proud to bring the Renasant Roots Entrepreneurial Success Series to the Atlanta market again this year. The capacity-building workshop is a four-week program customized to help small business owners sharpen their business development skills and fill gaps in their knowledge and experience to make their enterprises stronger. Renasant Roots was created in partnership with the Birmingham Business Resource Center five years ago.

With the program having great success in the Birmingham market, Renasant’s Birmingham team and the BBRC are sharing the Renasant Roots template with the Atlanta Renasant team to share with small business owners in Atlanta. “We are excited to bring the Renasant Roots program to the Atlanta market. After watching the success and growth of the program in Birmingham, we decided that it would be a great opportunity to share these business resources with the Atlanta community as well,” said Zennie Lynch, Atlanta Market President. “In addition to the skills development and powerful information these participants will receive, they will also be provided with a small business development grant of $2,500 when they complete the program.”

The workshop will focus on business development and planning, marketing and branding, accounting principles and tax preparation, funding options, and resource development. Speakers for the sessions will be provided by Invest Atlanta, Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs, LiftFund, and Atlanta Black Chambers.

There is no cost to participate in the program other than committing 10 hours over five weeks. 10 participants will be selected through an application process.
