Before returning to work in the Real Estate industry, April worked in the Senior Care field for seven years.

She helped seniors and their families with all of their care needs during a very, very challenging time of life for everyone.

One thing she realized after helping with her grandmother’s transition and then helping many other families navigate through those transitions, having a solid care plan created in conjunction with someone’s other health care providers, is absolutely essential.

Also, knowing where to find trustworthy information and help is critical.

There are a lot of resources out there — the big problem is most people don’t know they even exist.

For example, many Gainesville residents don’t know there is an adult daycare center located within the community that can help working families care for their elderly loved ones.

Terry Bowser was born and raised in southwest Pennsylvania. After earning a degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Terry was vacationing in Myrtle Beach, fell in love with the south, and never went back north. He’s now been in Atlanta for 30 years. Today, Terry is a Reverse Mortgage Advisor for CBC National Bank. Joining Terrry in the studio this morning is Dan Diaddigo, Director SI – Group Mortgage Banking. Dan moved to the Atlanta area when he was 10, and earned a degree in Broadcast News from the University of Georgia. Very quickly Dan migrated to the mortgage industry, and has worked in the industry ever since.

Terry notes that the reverse mortgage loan is a very safe, payment-free way to access the equity in your home. He also notes that it is a non-recourse loan that will allow a borrower to live in the home for as long as he or she lives. An interesting side-note is that a reverse mortgage may not necessarily be used for living expenses or healthcare expenses, but could alternative be used as an asset preservation technique.

Lane Tharp is a rare Atlanta native, attending Briarcliff High School and the University of Georgia. She initially began her career as an interior designer. After a hiatus in Florida, Lane returned to Georgia and began a second career in real estate. Having first been an interior designer, Lane had an inherent advantage in the real estate industry. Jan McFarlane is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Dallas after college to pursue a career in court reporting. She soon decided that she wanted to pursue a different path and entered in to the insurance industry. This move quickly led her to real estate which then turned her on to the path of mortgages. Jan now has over 26 years of combined experience between real estate and mortgages, and specializes in reverse mortgages as a Reverse Mortgage Specialist. Jan notes that she is licensed in all 50 states, and often provides services to family members from all over the country.

The best part of Jan’s job Is helping her clients take charge of their financial situation by unlocking a wealth of resources. As a senior herself, Jan enjoys interacting with her clients on a daily basis. She says that “They’ve taught me that it’s never too late to continue to enjoy life.”

Originally from New Jersey, Donna Sharp has spent more than 20 years in the nursing field. Sarah also is drawn to seniors, and couldn’t imagine working in any other field.

This community, being built by George and Earl Schoepf, is committed to helping individuals with some type of dementia age in place.
