A native Tucsonan, Michael Guymon’s twenty-two-year professional career has primarily centered on political strategy, business development and advocacy, and organizational management. As Vice President for the Tucson Metro Chamber, Michael is responsible for developing and implementing the Chamber’s local public policy and workforce development/attraction programs and initiatives.

Michael’s previous positions include Vice President of Regional Partnerships for Sun Corridor Inc.; Executive Director of Metropolitan Pima Alliance; Chief-of-Staff to Tucson City Council Member Fred Ronstadt; Asst. Melissa Sanderson

Melissa Sanderson is Vice President, International Affairs, with Freeport McMoRan and Co-Chair of the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations. Tina Waddington

Tina Waddington serves on the Board of Directors, Public Relations and Membership Committees at the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations. She has spearheaded the organization’s Young Professionals initiative to engage emerging leaders in the valley.

Tina’s background in international affairs, Italian and social sciences took her to Italy as a study abroad student, then landing her first ‘job’ as an U.S. Department of State intern at in the political office of the U.S. Embassy in Rome. After moving to back to Arizona to pursue graduate studies, Tina has spent the last six years working in global expansion and marketing for Arizona companies while building a civic engagement foundation getting involved with different organizations in the valley.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:13] Now, part of the value that we provide our clients is that they get to be affiliated with our brand, and we get to share their brand in as many ways as we can kind of creatively come up with. And that’s important for the sponsor in order to see their name associated with us, and our work is very important. So, there’s ways to do it. A lot of our studio partners are doing this in a variety of ways.

Lee Kantor: [00:00:37] Some ways that we can do it – put their brand on the mic flags; we can put their brand around the studio; we can give out co-branded mugs; we can put their business card in mugs; any of our social media posts, we can add their brand to it. Your imagination is kind of the guide here. Just be creative. Anything that is around your studio, you can put your sponsors name on it and don’t be afraid to it. You can do live reads throughout different episodes. You can make certain segments sponsored by the sponsor. There’s all kinds of ways to add a sponsor into the mix of the content we create because we create so much content, and there’s so many opportunities for their brand to come along for the ride. It’s just a matter of thinking about it, charging for it, and then executing on it.

Stone Payton: [00:01:30] No, I think we’re absolute just nirvana heaven for B2B product/service placement. I mean, don’t you?

Lee Kantor: [00:01:39] Absolutely. I mean we have TVs in the room, put them on that. Put them in between segments. I mean, you can put them in a whole different whole lot of places.

BIO Lainey

Lainey was born in Tucson, AZ and grew up in the small, area of desert in Vail, AZ.  Both of her parents grew up in the Chicago, IL area. Now her parents both work as real estate appraisers. Lainey was born on July 3 of 2004 and she was born a triplet with her two brothers. She now attends Andrada High School and is going to be a sophomore in the honors program.  At Andrada, she is involved in fitness/run club and NHS. She also is involved in Girl Scouts and 4H. She loves working with animals and hopes to become a veterinarian when she graduates college. She is an animal lover and has 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, 2 pigeons, and 35 chickens and quail!  Lainey raises rabbits, quail, chickens, and pigeons for the Pima County 4H program and competes in shows all over Arizona and the Pima County Fair each Spring.  Lainey is a junior leader for the Poultry Project in her club the Little Rascals for Pima County 4H and her parents volunteer in the club and in the county 4H.

Lainey has an iPod which she uses as a phone on Wi-Fi but doesn’t currently own any social media. She enjoys not having to deal with the extra stress and not dealing with the other pressures of things.

  BIO Grace

Grace was born in Tucson AZ. She is 15 years old and currently attends Empire High School. Her mom, Lisa, works for Too Busy Gals and her father, Brian, is a computer engineer. Grace loves all animals and raises Quail, Chickens, Pigeons, and Rabbits for 4H. In 4H she is the rabbit junior leader and pigeon junior leader and this past year she was the secretary for the club. Next 4H year she will be running for president. She shows her animals at shows all around Arizona and attends the annual Pima County Fair. Due to her 4H club, she gets a lot of opportunities to volunteer around town. Such as volunteering at Ben’s Bells, at Vail Pride Day, Humane Society, and The Fisher House Foundation. Outside of 4H, she has Dogs, fish, and cockatiels. Grace enjoys all forms of art and likes to draw the most. She would like to be a veterinarian or a job doing something to help animals.

Grace currently has her own Facebook account, along with a group for her rabbitry where she showcases animals she raises for 4H and offers them to other rabbit lovers. She also is active on Instagram and Snapchat.

BIO Elizabeth

Elizabeth is 15 years old and a sophomore in Tucson, AZ. She participates in many activities including being a Peer Mentor; where she helps her peers adapt to school and learn life skills. She is a member of the National Honor Society where they strive to help the community and inspire academic success for the school. She primarily uses Instagram on social media. She has a Facebook account at the request of her older family members. This summer she was certified as a lifeguard and work at a local pool.

Camilla Nørgaard Jensen, PhD

Camilla Nørgaard Jensen is Founder of InterPlay, a change agency that accelerates knowledge co-creation, knowledge sharing, and innovation by applying Serious Play methods and Design Thinking approaches to complex problems. Organizations hire InterPlay to design and facilitate playful activities that build trust, improve communication, drive engagement, break down silos, and boost creative problem-solving.

While InterPlay is a one woman consulting biz, scientifically grounded in Dr. Jensen’s doctoral research focused on serious play methods for accelerating knowledge transfer and innovation in organizations, it is also part of a strong collaborative of expert facilitators called PhosLabs. This synergistic collaboration enables them to cultivate sustainable change at scale in the organizations they serve.

Dr. Jensen’s passion is to develop and deliver workshops that enable people from various disciplines to communicate and collaborate more effectively when dealing with complex issues. For her PhD research she utilized LEGO® Serious Play® and design thinking methods to facilitate material deliberation and out-ofthe- box thinking in the context of nanotechnology and its broader implications to society, health, and the environment.

She is also spearheading a reintegration program for veterans. Dr. Jensen earned her Masters in Industrial Design and Engineering from Aalborg University in Denmark, where she collaborated with the LEGO Group and the MIT Media Lab on the next generation of interactive robotic play scenarios. She has worked and consulted for several award winning entrepreneurs and design firms. In 2007, she moved to Arizona and continued her work on hybrid (physical/digital) learning and play experiences. During her time at Arizona State University she has worked in the Arts, Media and Engineering program on interactive robotics, developed games for physical and cognitive rehabilitation in the Biomedical Informatics program, served as a core member of the tech team in the Decision Theater, and landed National Science Foundation grants to support her PhD research at the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment.

Lee, we often articulate our message, and we will say something to the effect of, “A pro business media outlet,” and we want to have something like that in virtually every community across the country and maybe eventually across the planet. But why is it important for those communities?

Lee Kantor: [00:00:27] I think that every community benefits by having a cheerleader that’s supporting and celebrating their work in the community, especially a media outlet that is focused on that. The benefits to the community are multifaceted. One element of benefit is that the small to mid-sized business owner feels appreciated because a lot of times, they don’t get the attention they deserve. A lot of times, people don’t know what they do. Even their own family members don’t really understand their business a lot of times. So, when you have somebody there that’s kind of vouching for them and telling their story, that’s an important just goodwill in terms of keeping them motivated to continue doing the hard work and grinding every day.

Lee Kantor: [00:01:09] Another element is for the community itself to kind of showcase some of the good work that’s being done to attract other business people to the community, and other people to come into the community to check out these important businesses because they are doing work that is important. And a lot of times, the only time they get any type of attention is if something bad happens. Like we always say, if a fire or a scandal occurs, then the press will come running. It’s the day-to-day work that they’re doing that doesn’t get appreciated. And we love being the safe place for these business people to tell their stories.
