LeeAnn Maxwell, Vixen Vodka and The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 616)

On this edition of North Fulton Business Radio, LeeAnn Maxwell, Founder, and Realtor at The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty joined host John Ray to discuss how she got started in real estate, how and why she started Vixen Vodka, advice for those looking to sell their home, and much more.

North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty

In this business, it’s all about building relationships. That’s especially true with The Maxwell Adventure Team.  Your local Real Estate Guides, LeeAnn & Phillip, provide the current and future residents of Georgia with up-to-date and accurate community information.

LeeAnn and Phillip Maxwell are ready to take you on your OWN real estate adventure. They’ve helped buyers and sellers from the mountains of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, Georgia to the sandy shores of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Specializing in residential properties in metro Atlanta, they bring a wealth of information about the local real estate market and are experts in negotiation on both the buying AND selling side.

LeeAnn has an extensive background in residential mortgage lending, which is always a tremendous help in navigating the tricky financial waters of each transaction. Both Phillip and LeeAnn have been recognized as Top 5% producers by the Atlanta Board of REALTORS as well as being named Centurion Top Producers within the Global Century 21 organization. They work with first-time homebuyers, veterans, investors, estate sales, those who are transferring into or out of the Atlanta area, and, of course, those who want/need to upsize or downsize. The Maxwell Adventure Team is ready to help you on your next adventure!

LeeAnn Maxwell, Vixen Vodka and The Maxwell Adventure Team of Century 21 Connect Realty

LeeAnn Maxwell spent over 28 years in the financial industry (moving from loan processor to loan officer to underwriting and ultimately managing a foreclosure department at a local law firm).  She spent about as long in her first marriage.

Once both those chapters were over, LeeAnn realized a few things: first, she wanted more out of life; and second, she wanted to rediscover herself. She wanted to find the woman she used to be, and the one she always wished she had the courage to become.

It was 2009 NYE when she made two resolutions: one – to not ask why but to ask why not and two – to never turn down an invitation because you never know who you’re going to meet.

The first resolution brought her to start Vixen Vodka, as after a girls’ trip to St. Simons Island, Georgia, she and her girlfriend asked each other, “Why not start a vodka company?” And the second gave her the courage to meet Phillip, the man who would become her second husband and biggest fan.

LeeAnn became the CEO of Vixen Vodka, learning how to trademark, how to raise a million dollars, and how to navigate the tricky waters of the liquor industry along the way. While Vixen is still on the shelf, it is not paying the bills so she and Phillip formed The Maxwell Adventure Team and are the number one team for their Century 21 Office as well as consistently in the top 5% of the Atlanta Realtors Association.

She LOVES helping buyers and sellers on their next adventure and Vixen makes a great closing gift! Her social media for the brands blend seamlessly and have taken on a life of their own with her quest to find the craziest, creepiest houses or rooms, along with tips and tricks for decluttering, staging, and more! Be sure and follow her!

If you ask LeeAnn what the main message she wants people to take away from her story is, she’d tell you plainly – to embrace life, believe in yourself, and go for it (whatever your “it” is).

Pay Per Click Advertising

This week I caught up with Eric Jones from Jellyfish, the digital strategy experts.  We talked about Pay Per Click Advertising, mistakes that can be made, things to think about when planning your campaign, and why it makes sense to work with experts such as those at Jellyfish to engage in a digital marketing campaign that employs pay per click advertising.

Having tried our hand at DIY Google AdWords campaigns that quickly cost us $$$ while getting us no conversions, our business can surely say there is value to working with experts who can guide you and help you spend wisely.  Eric talked about the value of analytics to track the effects of a given campaign, as well as why it’s important to consider the page on your website the ads direct your prospective customers to.

Eric shed some light on how the bidding process works in determining where your ads will rank, ultimately controlling where your ads will be displayed (1st page?, top of 1st page? etc).  We talked about how when there is much competition for a given set of keywords the cost per click can rise significantly, so advertisers must be prepared for that.

I also discussed some guests who have been on the show before that our listeners could benefit from getting to know.  I’m planning to incorporate some occasional shout-outs to be sure the companies who need their solutions can link up with them.  We hope you enjoy our show and subscribe to the podcast.  Let us hear from you with feedback, guest recommendations, and where you’re listening from.  If you tweet us questions or put them up on Facebook we’ll try to get them on the air and/or follow up with the guests after the fact to get you answers.  Thank you for listening to us!  Looking forward to 5000 downloads!

LeeAnn Maxwell/Vixen Vodka

CEO

Vixen Vodka was conceived after a girls’ trip to St. Simons Island in Georgia. It was an idea that came to fruition after a few slightly dirty martinis and several sun-soaked hours lying by the pool. An idea that took root and took hold of friends who wanted to make a difference in their lives; it was their why not moment. After all, women like to hang out, chill out and drink vodka just like the boys. But research and focus groups showed that no vodka brand currently on the market tapped into targeting women. In fact, it was a boys’ club waiting for a revolution. So they decided to raise their glasses to toast an idea that eventually became Vixen Vodka. This award winning company is poised for national expansion and is the perfect marriage of a sexy flirty brand and the smoothest gluten-free vodka youll ever taste.

LeeAnn spent over 28 years in the financial industry and about as long in a marriage. Once both those chapters were over, she realized she wanted more out of life; to rediscover the woman she used to be and the one she wanted to become. Her varied experiences have contributed to an extremely detail-oriented work ethic along with a very savvy business acumen.

Move Over Gentlemen, this is the Year of the Vixen. When LeeAnn sat down with a business consultant to review her initial business plan, he closed the document, told her how well written it was and then said, Youll never make it. When asked why, he replied, Because its the liquor industry, its all men, and they will eat you up and spit you out. LeeAnn looked right back at him and said in her sweet Southern syrupy way, Sugar, this could be a pair of pantyhose or a tube of lipstick, were creating a brand and we know what women want. Intrigued? Learn how she took a brand from beach to shelf and disrupted a male dominated category along the way.

Vixen Vodka
CW & Schwegman talk spirits with Rick Tapia and LeeAnn Maxwell

Vixen Vodka and JR Revelry Bourbon

Vixen Vodka was conceived by LeeAnn Maxwell and Carrie King after a girls’ trip to St. This award winning company is poised for national expansion and is the perfect marriage of a sexy flirty brand and the smoothest gluten-free vodka you’ll ever taste.  Schwegman and CW can attest to how great it tastes!

I had a chance introduction with Rick Tapia of La Bodega Interacional and founder of JR Revelry Bourbon during his appearance on our sister show “Let’s Talk Small Business“, sponsored by the Georgia Minority Supplier Developmental Council (GMSDC) just before we were going to be talking with LeeAnn of Vixen Vodka on Midtown Business.  On “Let’s Talk Small Business” he was celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month while talking about his involvement with the GMSDC and the launch of his new product.  Given the chance to sit down with two innovative entrepreneurs who were launching their own brand of spirits we were glad he was able to stick around and talk more about how JR Revelry came to be.  La Bodega Internacional is a wholly minority-owned producer of specialty craft premium spirits.  Rick spent 17 years in the alcohol beverage industry, gaining experience in the gamut of business roles from accounting to brand marketing and more.  He knew he wanted to have his own line of spirits and ultimately decided to plant his flag and leverage his working knowledge of the business to develop his own small batch bourbon.  He partnered with a well-respected distillery (SPEAKeasy Spirits) in Tennessee to produce JR Revelry, a combination of what he describes as “Some expected and some unexpected” flavor profiles in this excellent bourbon.  JR Revelry will begin to hit the shelves later in 2014 and expanding in early 2015.  Schwegman and CW are pleased to have been able to sample one of the bottles from his first 20 case batch!
