Bruce’s public speaking experience includes presenting at both regional and international professional conferences such as PMI Global Conference (Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia) and PMI EMEA Congress in Dublin, Ireland and LearnFest Caribbean in Jamaica. Bruce is an adjunct professor for Norwich University (Northfield, VT) teaching courses in a Project Management certificate program. As we honor our Veterans this month, we dedicated this episode to Project Management topics for our Veterans. We discussed the Veterans Project Management Mentoring Program offered by THE PMO SQUAD and Vets2PM. In less than a year this Program has over 100 participants across 30 states and continues to grow. Eric shared his story which lead to founding Vets2PM and eventually on to building VetStone. Both of these organizations serve our Veterans in the Project Management space offering training, career services, and prep for certifcation. Thank you to Eric for his multiple tours of duty and now for providing tools and services to assist Veterans transitioning into civilian PM careers!

Trevor and Paul are both Veterans as well. Now with their roles within the PMI Phoenix chapter they are leading efforts to give back to our Veterans. Listen to hear Paul discuss the Project Language Learner initiative and plans to launch a Veterans Mentoring Program from the PMI Phoenix Chapter. Trevor shares his experiences in the military and how those activities and skills translate to his role as a BA and PM leading projects for the Make A Wish Foundation.

We honor our Veterans for the service they provided to our country. We get to honor a second time on this show for their service post military career. Eric, Trevor, and Paul are all Veterans who continue to serve, as Project Management Leaders working to assist our Veterans!

The Military Outreach team at the Phoenix PMI Chapter does an amazing job of connecting with local veterans. This is the 40th anniversary for the Phoenix PMI Chapter and the year has been highlighted by a great series of speakers and educational opportunities including James Snyder, Harold Kerzner, Dr James Brown, and Steven Fullmer. The Chapter conducts dinner meetings every other month and has numerous breakfast meetings and social events.

PMI-Phoenix-Trevor-Stasik-on-Business-RadioXTrevor Stasik was recently elected as the VP of External Relations for PMI Phoenix for the 2019-2020 term. He is currently a Project Manager & Business Analyst with Make-A-Wish America, but has experience from his past life in records management, retirements, and financial services.

Trevor was a petty officer in the Navy back in the early 2000s.

PMI-Phoenix-Paul-Martin-on-Business-RadioXPaul Martin is the AVP of Military Affairs at PMI Phoenix. He is a Specialist Section Chief with the US Air Force Reserves. Fabrice Allibert, graduated in Business Administration by the University of Jonköping (Sweden). More than 15 years working on IT companies. John Sievila is PMO Project Director for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.  John is a graduate of University of North Dakota with a BSEE. As an accomplished Technology professional with extensive PMO experience in large-scale projects including Healthcare (PACS, HIS, RIS, etc.), John has successfully led large scale PMO driven projects and programs, including Professional Services organizations throughout his career. Expert at developing and aligning corporate strategies with operating processes, organizational structures and IT, John has built development models and project delivery methodologies for large scales projects including PACS, CRM and data warehousing.

John’s career highlights include 3M Healthcare implemented PACS projects for USC University Hospital, Baylor Medical Center, University of Washington, and Blodgett Medical Center. Supported RSNA and trade-shows in Singapore and Japan. While at Imation (3M Spinoff) John led the team (Project Director) for CRM selection (RFP, RFQ) and Deployment. Negotiated license fees. Acted as IT liaison to (5) business units. Moving to Eloyalty (Formerly Bentley Group) performed logistics technology selection (RFP/RFQ) for GE Medical Systems. Project Director (CRM deployment) for RCN, Frontier Telecommunications, Century Link, and Agilent (HP Medical devices). While at Braun Consulting John was the Program Manager for DirecTV which included technology selection and deployment for CRM and data warehousing solution.

John enjoys a good round of golf and working with K9 rescue groups.

Lynda Stanton began her career as a business analyst working on financial systems at Phoenix-based Apollo Education Group.  After enjoying varied experience at Apollo, which included internal audit and playing a key role on a PMO for a $13M business transformation project, she moved into the consulting world.  As an advisory consultant at PwC, Lynda led efforts to develop an adoption dashboard for a large cloud application implementation and ran the PMO for a $10M+ trade promotion system transformation.

Feeling it was time for a new challenge, Lynda began working in the newly established PMO for Phoenix-based software company, WebPT.  Over the last year, Lynda has worked with WebPT leadership to create the PMO function as well as manage internal projects including obtaining a security certification and the efforts to integrate a new acquisition.

Lynda lives in Scottsdale with her husband, 2 dogs and a cat.  She spends her free time doing yoga and volunteering for the Arizona Animal Welfare League where she is also a member of The League, AAWL’s Young Professionals Council.

Mark Kill/ Chief Operating Officer, Cooper Carry

Under Mark Kill’s leadership, Cooper Carry continues to enhance its ability to deliver creative project solutions with exceptional professional service. Prior to joining Cooper Carry, Mark was a Partner at THW Design where he specialized in commercial, hospitality, senior-living, and transportation projects. Notable senior living projects under his direction include Lenbrook’s Expansion and Renovation in Atlanta, Georgia and Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia. His area of expertise is in Team-oriented project programming, documentation, coordination, delivery and management. While with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago, he worked on temporary assignment on the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Prior to SOM, Mark worked at The H.K. Ferguson Company in Cleveland, Ohio. His international experience includes various project assignments in Western Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Mark received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University in 1977. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in 2009 from Kennesaw State University’s Executive MBA Program. Mark earned his Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) credentials in conjunction with Leading Age. The coursework consisted of three core modules centered on senior living community administration, management and aging residents and physical and financial environmental management. The CASP certification requires biennial continuing education. Mark is also a Construction Specifications Institute Construction Documents Technologist Certificate holder and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects where he served on the Board of Directors and was the State Coordinator for the Intern Development Program for seven years. Mark also serves as a Team Coach for Coles’ Executive MBA Program and is the Vice-Chair Elect for Lenbrook’s Board of Directors.

Prior to Cooper Carry, Mark joined THW Design in 1991 as a Managing Architect for Delta Air Lines’ Terminal Expansion in Cincinnati and named an Associate in 1996 and a Partner in 1999. Before joining THW, he worked as a Project Architect for COOPER CARRY, Atlanta (1986-1991), as Technical Coordinator, Architectural Staff and Intern Architect for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago (1978-1986) and as an Intern Architect at The H.K. Ferguson Company, Cleveland Ohio (1977-1978). Mark’s focuses were predominantly large-scale office, hotel and mixed-use developments.

Mark is married with three children and he enjoys outdoor activities with his family including gardening, camping, hiking and jogging. He also finds collegiate team sports and music exciting.

Keric Shanahan/ Director of Global PMO, Experis

In his current role, Keric’s organization provides professional services in IT, Engineering, Accounting, and Finance to a variety of international and domestic clients.

Keric’s career path spans from being an entrepreneur to working 18 years for a Fortune 10 company. He considers his core competence to be “a bridge builder” and he has a strong customer experience background that blends well with his business acumen. His career experiences and academic background allows him to be successful in bridging the gap between client needs and the needs of the business.
