Designated as one of Georgia’s top providers of small business assistance, the SBDC has 18 offices ranging from Rome to Valdosta to serve the needs of Georgia’s business community. Since 1977, our network of partners has helped construct a statewide ecosystem to foster the spirit, support, and success of hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs and innovators.

Prior to joining UGA SBDC, Mr. Kruse was an account executive with Bearcom Wireless in Atlanta, where he was responsible for developing a new customer base from prospects in the Atlanta market. His areas of specialization are business and market development, program management, strategic account planning and general management.

Mr. Kruse has worked in small businesses that focused on site leasing, Wi-Fi ‘HotSpots’, corporate network management and accounting software solutions.  He has experience working in the healthcare, hospitality, telecommunications, utility markets and with internet-based services including SaaS.

Mark-Lupo-SBDC Mark Lupo, Business Education & Resilience Specialist, joined The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center in Columbus in 2005 as a Business Consultant and was promoted to Area Director for the Columbus office in July of 2012.

He served with the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, NC during the 1980’s as the medical supervisor for an “A” detachment, with a language specialty of Turkish. He served in both the Middle East and Europe and was deployed during Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm in 1990 and 1991.

Mr. Lupo specializes in assisting businesses in developing emergency preparedness and business continuity plans. He has a passion for working with entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping others successfully identify the path, and the resources needed to develop a successful, profitable, and prepared business.

He currently leads the UGA Small Business Development Center at Georgia State University where his team provides consulting services, market research, business resources, and educational support to startup, growing, and mature small businesses to help them achieve their short and long-term goals.

He has extensive industry experience that spans leadership roles in supply chain management, supplier diversity, and small business development. His expertise includes strategic planning, organizational development, process improvement, leadership development, government and corporate contracting, and curriculum design and development.

Georgia Power is an electric utility headquartered in Atlanta, GA. It was established as the Georgia Railway and Power Company and began operations in 1902 running streetcars in Atlanta as a successor to the Atlanta Consolidated Street Railway Company.

Bob Woosley/Frazier & Deeter

After beginning his professional service career at Price Waterhouse, Bob Woosley became the first professional employee of Frazier & Deeter shortly after the firm was founded in 1981. In 1985, Bob became a partner and over the next 18 years he served the firm as head of the Audit and Strategic Consulting services departments. In 2000, Bob founded iLumen, Inc., the CPA profession’s leading business intelligence and analytical platform which is today used by leading CPA firms and financial institutions across the country. Bob served as CEO of iLumen through 2010 and is currently an active board member and advisor to the company.
