Kyros

Daniel Larson, Kyros (Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Radio, Episode 39)

CEO and Founder Daniel Larson created Kyros to help people suffering from addiction connect with the resources they need for recovery. On this episode of Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Radio, Daniel joined host John Ray and discussed how his own journey with substance abuse informs his work, the importance of technology in addressing the opioid epidemic, how Kairos is working to improve access to care, and much more.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Radio is produced virtually by the Minneapolis St. Paul studio of Business RadioX®.

Kyros

The goal of Kyros is to remove barriers along the recovery pathway for clients, providers, and organizations alike to facilitate a simplified approach to drug rehabilitation with one platform.

They know the treatment industry is messy and confusing, they’ve experienced it. This is the impetus to create the Kyros platform. It gathers resources in one place, allowing clients easy access through a self-serve menu, and providers a simplified approach to processing client information.

Kyros gives the client access to progress monitoring, rewards, and tracking. They can measure progress and begin to truly develop new lifestyles in their long-term recovery.

For providers, Kyros values quality over quantity. Work when you want, and as much as you want and track your impact on clients as you work alongside them.

For organizations, the platform was created to help simplify processing on all levels through functions aiding in proper workforce management, and automated billing.

In previous roles at SHI One Platform and Field Nation, where he served as Program Manager and Director of Strategic Business Development respectively, Daniel successfully built two nine-figure revenue programs from the ground up, resulting in eight-figure revenue streams for each company during his tenure.

This year he launched Kyros, the first of its kind digital platform for recovery services, which harnesses the power of technology to connect and empower clients, providers, and organizations. Daniel is two years into his recovery and developed Kyros after encountering obstacles on his own journey with substance use disorder. Elizabeth Johnson, Jesse’s House (North Fulton Business Radio, Episode 363)

Jesse’s House is a Forsyth County-based emergency shelter for adolescent girls who have experienced abuse and neglect. Executive Director Elizabeth Johnson joined host John Ray to discuss the history of Jesse’s House, the services and hope for healing they offer their residents, and some of their successes. The stories Elizabeth has to share in this episode are compelling. North Fulton Business Radio is broadcast from the North Fulton studio of Business RadioX® inside Renasant Bank in Alpharetta.

Jesse’s House

Jesse’s House Inc., originally known as the Forsyth County Youth Shelter, was founded in 1998 as a result of a 1996 needs assessment survey for the north Georgia region conducted by Kennesaw State University. The survey identified the need for an emergency shelter in Forsyth County for adolescent girls who were experiencing abuse and neglect. The Larry Morris family answered the call by donating a 2 bedroom home in honor of their father, Jesse Morris. With a house in place and generous contributions from the community, Jesse’s House began operation. In their early years, Jesse’s House was able to serve seven residents with a maximum-allowed stay of 90 days.

The past 22 years have seen tremendous growth in response to the changing needs in the community. Their new shelter has the capacity to serve 12 girls, and the average length of stay in this past year was 8 months. Jesse’s House has served over 1,000 girls from all over the state of Georgia in these past 22 years, and with the support of our community, we hope to serve another 1,000.

Follow Jesse’s House on Facebook.

Elizabeth Johnson, Executive Director, Jesse’s House

For most of her professional career Elizabeth has provided therapy to individuals, and family members of those who had co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Elizabeth’s involvement with Jesse’s House began in 2016 through her work as a therapist by providing counseling to the residents. Her involvement with Jesse’s House grew in 2017 when she became the Program Director, and in October 2020 she was installed as the Executive Director.

Elizabeth is passionate about helping others heal, overcome trauma and empowering them through change to create a different outcome in their life’s story. She is passionate about affirming the dignity of those most vulnerable among us and sees sacred potential in everyone. She is inspired by the courage and resilience of the girls at Jesse’s House, and humbled to work alongside the women at Jesse’s House who are so skilled and dedicated to helping the girls who are placed with them.

“In a world that seems so lost at times, I am grateful to be in a position where I am often reminded of the goodness of others. I see it in my co-workers on a daily basis. I see it through the thoughtfulness and generosity of those in the community who support our work. But I see it most clearly in how all of that support comes together and starts to take shape in the girls. They begin to value themselves and see potential in their life that they hadn’t dare dream before.”

Paul Knowlton, Ubercounsel, joins “North Fulton Business Radio” to discuss how he combines his legal expertise with his pastoral care and counseling experience to better serve his clients, the spirituality of business ownership, and much more. It’s a fascinating, thought provoking discussion. The host of “North Fulton Business Radio” is John Ray and the show is broadcast from the North Fulton Business RadioX® studio based in Alpharetta.

Paul Knowlton, Ubercounsel: The Firm of Paul Knowlton, J.D., M.Div.

Ubercounsel, the Law Firm of Paul Knowlton, J.D., M.Div., is more than a law firm. It’s an extension of the founder as a person; a highly trusted and skilled attorney-counselor whose counsel and action are fueled by compassion. Other firms have vision statements, Ubercounsel has a soul.

Drawing from the unique combination of the founder’s legal, business, and pastoral counseling successes, the firm presently offers six categories of services:

First Step: Evaluating and crafting your action plan
Family Care: Protecting your personal and financial objectives
Business Law & Consulting: Legal and executive experience helping you succeed
Conflict & Dispute Resolution: Skilled assistance getting to your best resolution

Professional Development & Coaching: Supporting your growth on the journey

About Paul Knowlton:

Paul Knowlton Ubercounsel
Paul Knowlton, Ubercounsel

Prior to law school Paul’s corporate roles include being a construction superintendent with Ryland Homes and a forensic engineer with Georgia Pacific. During law school he clerked for and joined an intellectual property boutique, also becoming a patent attorney, that was soon acquired by Kilpatrick Stockton. At Kilpatrick and later at his first firm, he built a successful intellectual property prosecution and litigation track record. Paul initiated, co-founded and was the managing member of a successful IP boutique and then later the director of another. After successfully serving as the CEO of a large human services agency, he most recently launched his second firm Ubercounsel and received an appointment at Mercer University.

In addition to being licensed in GA and the 11th Circuit, a registered patent attorney, a Henning trained mediator and arbitrator, a Martindale Hubbell Distinguished attorney, and Georgia Trend Legal Elite, in 2014 he earned his Master of Divinity with a concentration in pastoral care and counseling. An active leader of the State Bar of Georgia’s Attorney Wellness and Lawyer Assistance Program committees, he offers solutions to the stresses of professional life.

What is Paul’s back story, and particularly why does he have a passion for family care, pastoral counseling, and professional development?

The son of an immigrant Hispanic mother and federally convicted father, Paul was placed in foster care as were all his siblings. From a very early age he has the lived experience of the relentless stresses, anxieties, and fears that push so many of us to irreconcilable despair.

Turning inwardly as a young adult to develop the skills to recover, redirect, and wildly prosper after a brutal beginning, he is an attorney-counselor who is authentically and creditably a friend on the journey.
